July 8th 2009

Will finds Sami with Rafe's wallet and calls her out on her snooping. He points out that she's pushed away everyone but Rafe, and if she can't trust even him, she has nothing. Will exits in a huff, and Rafe realizes Sami's been digging through his wallet. He and Sami argue once more about Emily, and Sami expresses her deepest fears. Rafe finally tells her that he was engaged to Emily and she died on their wedding day, and he doesn't talk about it because it's too painful. Sami is satisfied, already knowing the facts of his story to be true, and sincerely vows to drop it. At the same time, Stefano gets information regarding Emily's death.

Nicole is horrified to find Stefano indoctrinating Sydney into the DiMera ways. Stefano reminds Nicole that she has no choice but to live by his rules. Nicole likewise reminds Stefano that they both need each other. EJ gets a hint from Johnny that he and Nicole share a secret regarding Sami, but Nicole covers admirably. Stefano warns Nicole that surely she wouldn't be foolish enough to lie to EJ again. Nicole brings up her concerns regarding Rafe, and Stefano assures her he's taking care of him. EJ takes Nicole upstairs and gives her a lavish gift, and apologizes that he's been so difficult to live with. Nicole understands, and they profess their love for each other and their family. Johnny interrupts an intimate moment, and EJ exits to attend to him. Nicole picks up the phone and leaves a message for Sami, saying she needs to talk to her regarding Johnny, just as EJ moves back in.

Brady and Arianna are irritated when they realize that Melanie has lured both of them to the Horton cabin to spark a fire between them. Persistent Melanie manages to get Arianna into Brady's arms, and they gravitate towards a kiss. Meanwhile, Nathan, who has just come from visiting Alice, meets with Maggie and expresses his insecurity regarding the expectation that he will live up to Tom Horton's image. Maggie reassures him. He learns that Melanie went to the cabin without him and sets out after her. He discovers her in the outdoor shower, naked.

Mia is upset to learn that Chad has taken a job at Java Café, but she softens as they talk and she remembers their first meeting. Later, Chad finds Will with Mia and tells Will that he's Mia's boyfriend.

July 7th 2009

On Tuesday July 7th 2009, Days of our Lives will be pre-empted nationally for NBC's coverage of Michael Jackson's funeral. The show will resume regular programming on Wednesday July 8th 2009.

July 6th 2009

After agreeing to drop her questions about Emily, Sami accidentally finds the woman's "mass card" in Rafe's wallet and is nearly caught red handed. She's honest in saying she was looking for money for take-out and Rafe believes her, but Sami is unable to replace the card. The two make love in the shower and while Rafe goes to pick up food, Sami can't resist and does some research on Emily. She is shocked to learn Rafe and Emily were engaged. Sami goes on to learn Emily died on her and Rafe's wedding day. While he is out, Rafe runs into Arianna who guesses he and Sami made up. Rafe is confident that he got Sami to drop her questioning regarding Emily, but Arianna doesn't think she will. Sami's the kind of girl who won't let it go. Arianna wonders if Rafe should just tell Sami the truth about what happened. Rafe says he can't. He wishes he could, but doubts Sami would understand. He needs to protect her, and Arianna thinks that's ironic. Rafe once said the same exact thing about Emily ...

Daniel rushes Chloe to the hospital where her symptoms from having eaten Kate's tainted apple are severe. He works closely with Lexie as they franticly do everything they can to find out what's causing Chloe's illness. Unfortunately, they come up empty. Later, after Lucas arrives and Chloe's symptoms dissipate, Daniel, with Maggie's help, steps back and decides to remove himself from the case and assign a specialist. Maggie thinks that's a good idea. Meanwhile, Chloe wants a different doctor and Kate reluctantly agrees. While it appears things have gotten better for Chloe, Kate secretly promises she's only going to get much worse.

Max is leaving for London, and he and Caroline promote Arianna to manager of the Brady pub. Later, Max asks Bo for his permission to marry Chelsea. Bo says he can't grant it. Max is stunned at first, but then realizes Bo means Chelsea will make up her own mind. Meanwhile, Melanie bonds with Nathan. They make their way to the Brady pub where Max has a moment with Melanie. Big bro Max reassures her she'll be fine in Salem. His cab arrives, and Max says his final good-byes to Caroline, Melanie and Bo as he leaves for London.

Rafe is very angry that Sami broke her promise to him about Emily. Sami, her emotions colored by her loss of Grace, is equally upset that Rafe is keeping a secret from her. She tells him he's not the man she thought he was and demands he leave. Rafe refuses, pointing out that Sami always pushes him away when she doesn't want to get hurt. Couples fight and it doesn't mean they stop loving one another. They kiss, which leads to lovemaking. Afterwards, Rafe vows to help Sami get Johnny back. Later, while Rafe is in the shower, Sami goes through his wallet and finds a mass card for Emily, learning the date of her death.

Chloe takes a bite of the poisoned fruit and is ready to throw it out because it doesn't taste good. Kate subtly persuades her to take another bite. They head to Java Café where Kate secretly records Daniel and Chloe's conversation. Lucas arrives just as Chloe gets a headache. She insists she's fine, and Lucas takes Allie home. Kate leaves and edits her recording, making it sound like Daniel and Chloe are having an argument. Chloe grows increasingly ill, then collapses in Daniel's arms. Meanwhile, Kate tells Lucas they're all worried about Chloe, whose health is so precious to them.

Melanie tells Maggie she wants to help her friends be together, which is why she's going to suggest they prepare the Horton cabin. Maggie is suspicious of Melanie's motive. Melanie insists her motive is altruistic, but she also hopes the good karma will help her meet the right guy. Meanwhile, Brady and Arianna run into one another and agree they're not each other's type. But as they walk away, it's clear don't mean it. Melanie later meets with Brady and he agrees to help her prepare the cabin for summer. She then meets with Arianna, who also agrees to help her prepare the cabin, while Brady tells Maggie it's not the right time for him to be in a relationship.

June 2009

EJ learns about Rafe's plans to adopt Grace and is not happy. Nicole asks EJ to prove he is not jealous of Rafe by not going over to Sami's. EJ chooses not to go but leaves to visit Stefano at the hospital.

Philip and Stephanie realize they're lying in adjoining drawers in the morgue and profess their love. Meanwhile, Owen's father asks him to help embalm the new body - Philip. Owen intervenes before his father discovers Stephanie. Later, Owen tells Stephanie they're going to leave town. Philip reveals himself while Stephanie takes Owen's gun. A struggle ensues and Owen recovers the gun, pointing it at Philip. He and Owen struggle and Philip prevails. Bo and Hope arrive and arrest Owen. Stephanie is clearly not over the ordeal, but insists she only wants to think of Philip at the moment.

Sami enjoys a bit of role-playing with Rafe in his construction uniform. Rafe leaves for his job and Grace suddenly spikes a fever and has a seizure! Meanwhile, Arianna finds Rafe at his construction job and blames Sami for him giving up his dream of being an FBI agent. Sami is at the hospital and can't get a hold of Rafe. She sees EJ and rushes into his arms. Nicole arrives in time to overhear Daniel telling Sami and EJ he needs to run some tests on Grace to ensure her illness is not genetic.

Sami fears she'll have to come clean about being Grace's birth mother and tells Daniel she can tell him anything he needs to know. When Grace's fever spikes again, Daniel gets Sami to agree to a lumbar puncture. Later, Sami tells Will that he may not like the results of Grace's genetic tests. Lucas arrives and realizes Sami is going to tell EJ the truth. Sami is about to tell EJ when Daniel arrives with bad news.

In the chapel, Stefano tells Nicole he knows everything about the baby switch. Nicole asks why he hasn't told EJ. EJ interrupts, telling Stefano they have a problem with Owen, who is about to implicate the DiMeras in Stephanie's kidnapping. EJ smuggles Stefano out of the hospital and Stefano makes a call about Owen.

Daniel tells Sami that Grace has meningitis. Rafe arrives. Sami decides not to tell EJ about Grace's paternity, now that the genetic tests are not necessary. Sami and Rafe pray for Grace's safety. Daniel gets the test results and summons Sami and Rafe back to Grace's side.

Mia tells Will that she will likely have to leave Salem. Lucas arrives and Will gets an idea to ask him for help with Mia's situation. Mia is left alone with Lucas and he discovers she was in rehab. Lucas confronts Will. Mia overhears Will tell Lucas that he will never give her up. Mia tells Will that she overhead what his dad said about staying away from her and she thinks he is right. Will asks Maggie if she knows where Mia can stay and Maggie offers up her place. Mia agrees.

Mia runs into Nicole at the hospital. Mia tells Nicole that she's happy "their" baby is not sick. Mia is surprised by how affected she is by Grace's illness. Nicole helps smuggle Mia into the ICU, saying she is Grace's mother. Mia holds Grace, for what could be the last time.

Stefano assures EJ that Owen won't talk to the police, and he'll make sure Stephanie doesn't, either. Meanwhile, Stephanie and Philip come home and Kate greets them. Roman arrives and has words with Stephanie about her decision to marry Philip. Stephanie insists she loves Philip. Later, Stephanie and Philip make love. Stephanie has a nightmare about her kidnapping, which leads to a full-blown panic attack. She puts on a brave face and doesn't tell Philip, but it's clear she is terrified to go back to sleep.

Daniel accuses Kate of being jealous of Chloe and reminds her of her promise to let this go. Kate appears to acquiesce, but it's clear she has other plans. Meanwhile, Lucas pressures Chloe to tell him what happened the night he was drinking, claiming he's starting to remember on his own. They argue and she nearly tells him the truth. She realizes she can't and they make up. Daniel has a steamy fantasy about Chloe, but is determined to stop thinking about her.

Nicole tells Chloe how happy she is that EJ appears to be getting over Sami. Chloe hopes she might be able to get over Daniel. Later, Chloe talks to Maggie about coming clean with Lucas about the affair. Maggie thinks it's time to be honest. Chloe tells Lucas there's something she needs to talk to him about. He interrupts her, saying all that matters is that they're together now. They can get through anything. Kate offers Chloe her job back. Chloe accepts and we see Kate has set her trap.

Stefano decides not to tell EJ about the switch, but instead tells him never to take Sydney for granted. EJ is about to go to the hospital to find Nicole when Sydney cries. He decides to stay home and promises Sydney he'll love her always.

Caroline has Father Matt come to the hospital. Sami is still waiting for a miracle and reminisces with Rafe about Grace's short life. After fiercely insisting nothing will happen to Grace, Sami finally comes to grips with the fact that the baby will die and e allows Father matt to administer last rites. Grace dies and Sami mourns with Rafe. Sami is devastated and blames herself for Grace's death. Sami asks Rafe and Will to bring home Johnny and Allie so she can tell them about Grace. EJ initially refuses to let Rafe take Johnny, but Nicole steps in and he relents. Rafe is twigged by how upset Nicole is. Sami later shuts Rafe out, telling him she and Will will talk to the twins.

Rafe runs into Arianna, who worries about him and Sami. Meanwhile, Stefano confronts Nicole about the baby switch and tells her he doesn't condone her lying to EJ, but he thinks she did the right thing. He agrees to keep her secret. Later, EJ shows up at Sami's to get Johnny.

While at the hospital making arrangements for Grace, Rafe runs into Nicole and confronts her about how upset she is over Grace's death. Nicole says that just because she has a healthy child doesn't mean she's not devastated by the death of another baby.

Sami tells EJ that Grace was his baby. He becomes furious and denounces her. He tells her she doesn't deserve to be a mother. He hates her for keeping him from Grace and always will. Rafe takes Grace's body to the funeral home and runs into EJ. Sami arrives just in time to see EJ punch Rafe. Sami steps in. Rafe defends Sami's actions, saying she didn't want Grace to be raised by a murderer. Rafe takes Sami home, reassures her that she did the right thing and encourages her to tell Will the truth. Sami comes clean with Will. In the morgue, EJ says goodbye to Grace and breaks down.

Victor invites Brady back into the family and Brady reluctantly accepts. Later, Victor finds Caroline and tries to console her, saying he's still the man who fell in love with her years ago.

Victor arrives at the DiMera mansion to extend an olive branch, also pointing out that Owen is ready to talk to the police. Stefano denies this, implying that he has neutralized Owen. He tells Victor he'll consider a truce once he knows EJ is free and clear. Victor makes what Nicole perceives to be a threat against Sydney. Victor says he may be back, or not, to finalize their agreement.

Arianna shares her concerns with Brady about Rafe and Sami. She thinks it's almost as if Rafe is helping Sami cover something up.

Chloe tries to comfort Daniel for not being able to save Grace. Her efforts are wasted and he tells her to go to her husband, Lucas. Chloe has a dream about Daniel. Lucas tells Chloe that Grace was Sami's baby and EJ was the father. Chloe is overwhelmed and angry at Lucas for keeping the secret. Later, Chloe runs into Daniel and admits that she is not sure if she can make her marriage work. She is still in love with Daniel and it looks like she may not be able to control her desire for him, but he rebuffs her. Daniel tells Chloe she needs to stay strong, or it will be the death of him.

Kate steals a prescription note from Daniel and covers when he asks why she has come to see him. She wants to know if he'll consider coming on her show as a medical expert. Kate obtains the toxic drug, but Lucas sees her with the bottle and questions her. Lucas slips to Kate that Sami and EJ were Grace's biological parents. Kate tells Lucas her intentions to mend fences with Chloe. Later, Daniel declines Kate's offer but she is determined to change his mind. Chloe returns to Lucas and they agree to make a fresh start.

Chelsea returns from London and surprises Max, and they make love. Chelsea tells Max that she's not staying in Salem. She's going back to London to start a new life there, and she wants him to join her. He agrees to, even though it will mean giving up his plans to go to Salem U. medical school.

Rafe tells Arianna about Sami being Grace's biological mom. Arianna worries that Rafe is repeating the past and warns him not to let this be like it was with Emily. Later, Arianna clears off a headstone and we see the name "Emily." Meanwhile, Will learns from Sami that Lucas also knew the truth about Grace. Angry, Will tells Sami he is moving in with Caroline. Sami tells Rafe that things will get messy now that the truth is coming out, and she understands if he wants to leave. Rafe promises to stay by Sami's side. EJ tells Nicole about being Grace's dad. Nicole worries this will bring him and Sami closer but EJ says that Sami's lies have killed any feelings he might have had for her. He is truly in love with Nicole for her devotion and honesty.

Nicole runs into Brady, who berates her for being no better than Sami. She's a liar. Nicole insists she did it out of love for EJ, but Brady warns her that's not what love is. Stefano offers his condolences to EJ and wonders what his son has in store for Sami. EJ shows him a document and says Sami's never going to know what hit her.

It's the day of Grace's memorial and Sami and Rafe experience an outpouring of both sympathy and scorn from the mourners. Bo and Hope remember Zack. Bo insists that Sami didn't do the right thing by lying about Grace and lays into Rafe for not doing his job, and falling for Sami instead. Arianna defends her brother. During the service, EJ blasts Sami for keeping him from Grace. At the end, EJ serves Sami with papers granting him full custody of Johnny.

Will tells Mia the truth about Grace. She wonders if he'll leave Salem now. Will says there are things keeping him in town (meaning Mia). Mia is gives Will a kiss on the cheek.

Mia has to miss part of her first day of work at the Java Café to attend the funeral. Kinsey tells Mia she ran into an old friend from Salem West named Chad. She notices Mia's reaction and probes. Mia returns to the Java Café after the funeral and is disheartened to see Kinsey there again. Kinsey presses her for details on her and Chad's past. Later, Mia is shocked when Chad arrives.

Bo and Hope learn Owen has been sprung from police custody. Victor tells Philip the DiMeras are ready to end the feud. Philip asks Stephanie to lie to Bo and Hope about EJ's involvement in her kidnapping. She reluctantly agrees to do so. Bo worries Stephanie's lies will hurt her. Later, Stephanie talks to her doctor about her panic attacks and he gives her pills.

EJ demands that the truce be brokered between him and Philip. Stefano and Victor agree and EJ and Philip shake hands. Meanwhile, Stephanie has a vision of Owen and takes a pill. Max says goodbye to Stephanie and warns her about Philip, but she insists she loves him. Later, Philip comes home to tell Stephanie he has good news. She thinks it's about Owen, but Philip has to let her down. Philip tells her about the truce. Henderson arrives with a note for Philip. Stephanie wants to see it, but Philip refuses so she grabs it away from him. She learns Philip was hiding the fact that he bought her a new car as her graduation gift and feels guilty that she didn't trust him. Alone, she pops another pill then has a champagne toast with Philip. They almost make love but are interrupted by Brady, who is wary of the truce and tells Stephanie that EJ was the father of Sami's baby. Stephanie is now determined to go to Grace's funeral, even though it will mean seeing EJ for the first time since her kidnapping.

Stephanie confronts EJ before Grace's service and insists that he'll pay in the end for his crimes. When he threatens her, she slaps him. Philip witnesses this and is impressed. Later, Stephanie is feeling anything but brave. She nearly has another panic attack when she sees a newspaper article about Owen's escape and she pops a pill.

Max offers Melanie a chance to move to London with him. When she learns Mia is moving in with Maggie, she considers it. She ends up quitting her job. Melanie runs into a hunky new med intern, Nathan, at the hospital. Brady sees how smitten she is and teases her. Melanie learns Nathan is meeting friends at the Brady Pub. She goes home to get ready and runs into Nathan, coming out of the shower! Melanie is about to call the cops on half-naked Nathan, but Maggie arrives and introduces her to her grandson (Melissa's son). Melanie tells Maggie she's leaving for London, but later decides to un-quit her hospital job and stay in town. Maggie warns Nathan that Melanie is not good relationship material and to be careful with her.

Melanie tells Max that she's decided to stay in Salem. After he meets Nathan, Max realizes Melanie is staying because of him. Melanie insists that she doesn't want to go to London because she truly believes Max is better off without her. Max hands Melanie a plane ticket, just in case she changes her mind.

Chloe meets Daniel on the pier and thanks him for being strong when she was tempted earlier to give in to her desire. Chloe heads to church, where she can't stop fantasizing about Daniel. She confesses to Father Matt that she's cheating on Lucas in her mind and is more in love with Daniel than ever. Meanwhile, Kate learns Daniel's ex-wife Rebecca died of breast cancer and tries to convince Daniel to join her TV show by offering a large donation to breast cancer research. Maggie advises Daniel that he can't avoid Chloe. Daniel informs Kate that he'll take the job. She privately alludes to ending Daniel and Chloe's lives.

Sami realizes there is nothing she can do to fight EJ's court order. Nicole worries to EJ that this might be her fault – maybe Sami didn't tell him about Grace because she didn't want Nicole raising the little girl. EJ insists she did nothing wrong. Later, Sami is forced to give Johnny over to EJ. Sami vows to expose EJ as the evil man he is and claims Rafe was more of a father to Grace than EJ ever could have been. EJ threatens to kill Rafe. Nicole later warns EJ not to underestimate Sami. Sami charges over to see Philip and Stephanie and asks for their help against EJ. Philip claims they have no evidence against EJ. Meanwhile, Rafe finds Nicole grieving at Grace's grave and is suspicious. Rafe later goes to Emily's grave and says he's so sorry.

Sami asks Stephanie to testify that EJ was behind her kidnapping. Stephanie declines. Sami makes a desperate plan to run away with her kids, but Rafe stops her. Sami gets a call from Nicole, saying she'll find a way to help Sami see Johnny. Stefano cautions Nicole not to feel guilty and try to change EJ – look what happened to Sami when she did that. Meanwhile, Rafe tries to get Will to forgive Sami.

Rafe comes across Mia and Brady at the church and realizes they know each other. He learns from Father Matt that Mia interrupted Nicole and EJ's wedding. Twigged, Rafe vows to find out what Mia is hiding. Meanwhile, Mia swears to Nicole that she is moving forward. No one will take Sydney from Nicole.

Rafe tells Nicole he's sorry for being so hard on her for grieving at Grace's grave. Nicole knows he has an ulterior motive. Rafe comments that he met Nicole's friend Mia. He admits he wants Nicole's help in the custody battle for Johnny. Later, Nicole fears that Rafe is going to be a problem.

Stephanie is stressed about not helping Sami and Philip tries to comfort her. Stephanie secretly takes two more pills then goes for a swim. When she gets out to answer a call from Philip, she slips, hits her head and falls unconscious. Daniel finds her and brings her to the ER, where he confronts her for overdosing on the pills. Stephanie vows not to take another pill and begs Daniel not to tell Philip. Melanie later finds the pills at the hospital. Later, Stephanie hears Philip and Victor discussing illegal family business and begins to have a panic attack.

Stephanie has a nightmare about blood on her and Philip's hands. Melanie stops by to give Stephanie back her pills. Chloe comes by and she can see Stephanie is troubled. She suggests that Stephanie talk to a man who helped her through a difficult time. Stephanie heads to the church to talk to Father Matt. Meanwhile, Philip asks Lucas to be his best man. Lucas declines, not wanting Victor to humiliate Chloe at the wedding. Philip expresses his concern that Stephanie is not being truthful about her feelings.

Maggie asks Melanie to do some work at the Horton cabin. Melanie is reluctant until she learns Nathan will be helping her. Nathan learns from Hope that Melanie is the girl Nick was involved with. Later, Nathan is cold with Melanie. She realizes it's because of Nick and she storms out.

Maggie tells Nathan the truth about how Nick stalked Melanie. Nathan apologizes to Melanie. He inquires about the pills he saw her with. She explains they belonged to a friend who hasn't told her fiancé about them. Nathan thinks the fiancé should know.

Chloe is upset when she learns Daniel will be doing the Hearth and Home show with her, but realizes this may be the best way to move on. Meanwhile, Kate poisons some appetizers and has Daniel take them to the set, which is in Maggie's kitchen. She also lifts Daniel's fingerprints from a glass and transfers them to the medicine bottle. At the end of the day, on camera, Daniel offers Chloe one of the poisoned treats. Her nerves get to her and she spills the tray. Kate manages to replace and poison the treats but it looks like Lucas will eat one! Kate barely stops him.. Later, Kate meets with Daniel and baits the conversation. We see later that she's recorded their chat.

Kate edits her recording of Daniel so it seems that Daniel is saying he loves Chloe. Meanwhile, Chloe gives Lucas a scrapbook of Horton memories. Kate pressures Daniel to get Lucas and Chloe a housewarming gift. She overhears him ordering a fruit basket and comments to herself that he's made this almost too easy for her.

Lexie is grateful for Hope's very generous donation to support families with autistic children. Hope is upset that she was acknowledged in the paper, because the donation was supposed to be anonymous. Bo, Hope and Ciara visit Zack's grave. Bo has a vision of Zack telling him to hold onto Ciara's teddy bear or something bad will happen. Later, we see a mysterious stranger reading the article about Hope's donation.

Will learns that EJ will be taking Johnny and tells Sami that EJ has every right to do this after her and Rafe's lies. Meanwhile, Mia tries to make it clear to Chad that she wants nothing to do with him. After she leaves, Chad applies for a job at Java Café.

May 2009

Sami confronts Rafe about Arianna and he reveals she is, in fact, his sister. Later, Sami admits to Rafe that she still has feelings for EJ that will never go away. Rafe says he's known this all along, but wanted Sami to acknowledge it. Sami and Rafe kiss.

Nicole learns that EJ plans to investigate Dr. Baker and use him against the Kiriakis family. Nicole meets with Baker and urges him again to leave town. Baker refuses.

Nicole runs into Sami and Rafe at the Java Café and confronts him about breaking into her and EJ's home. Sami and Rafe try to ignore her. Nicole manages to alert Baker before Sami and Rafe can spot him. Nicole tries again to convince Baker to leave town. Rafe introduces Sami to his sister Arianna. She is less than thrilled that Rafe is dating Sami. Arianna pulls Rafe aside and asks what he's doing with Sami – is he crazy?

EJ calls Baker to the mansion and questions him. Nicole is furious but EJ tells her he needs to get answers now – Stefano is missing. EJ gets a call from Victortor and has to rush out. Nicole tells Baker she might be able to give him some money so he can leave town, but when they go to get it, she accidentally hits him and he falls – has she killed him? She anxiously awaits news of his condition, secretly hoping he'll have lost his memory. He wakes up and reveals that he remembers everything, and Nicole tried to kill him!

Sami and Rafe go on a date (a picnic). Sami falls into a stream but Rafe saves her. Naked and under blankets to stay warm, they start to make love. They are interrupted by a park ranger who tells them they're under arrest. They're released and they go home, only to learn Grace has a fever. Sami makes a doctor's appointment for the next day. She is touched that Rafe puts her kids first and he promises they'll continue their date another time.

Stephanie has a nightmare that Philip has died. When she wakes, she's not sure she can continue living this way. Stephanie contemplates leaving Salem but realizes she wants to be with Philip. Later, a nurse shoos Stephanie out and reaches for a pillow, ready to suffocate Philip!

Hope is suspicious when Melanie tells her about the new nurse. She rushes into Philip's room and finds the nurse trying to suffocate him. Melanie gives Philip mouth-to-mouth and he comes to. Philip immediately accuses the DiMeras. Stephanie arrives after receiving a call from Melanie. Stephanie shows up at EJ's and tells him the feud must stop. EJ kicks her out and leaves another voicemail for Stefano, promising to avenge Tony. EJ meets Victortor on the pier. Victortor tells EJ he has Stefano.

Brady interrupts Victortor and Philip discussing their plans to retaliate against the DiMeras. Brady tries to convince them to join forces with the police to bring the DiMeras down. Later, Brady tells Bo about his suspicions. Bo also tries to convince Victortor and Philip to leave the DiMeras alone. Victortor refuses to tell Brady anything about his plan.

Philip is released from the hospital and Stephanie has decorated the house for his return. Philip learns that Stephanie went to speak with EJ. He worries that she could become a casualty of the feud. Stephanie says she trusts Philip to do the right thing regarding the feud with the DiMeras. He asks her to move into the Kiriakis mansion and she accepts. Later, with the help of gardener Owen, Philip sets up a romantic dinner at the mansion. Philip asks Stephanie to marry him. Meanwhile, Victortor takes blindfolded EJ to see Stefano. EJ is left alone in a dark room where he sees a shrouded body on a bed.

Chelsea breaks the news to Max about needing to go to London. He wants to go with her but she discourages him. He promises he'll wait for her and they make love. Chelsea has an emotional goodbye with Hope, then says her last goodbyes to Bo and Max and boards the plane to London.

Mia and Will meet a girl, Kinsey, who remembers Mia from Salem West. Kinsey tells Will that everyone thinks Mia left school to go to rehab. Later, Will asks Mia about this. She admits it and runs off. Mia meets Maggie and confides that she let a friend believe a terrible lie about her because the truth is way worse. Will also talks to Maggie, who reminds him that everyone needs someone they can depend on. Will leaves Mia a message, hoping they can talk.

Lucas comes upon Chloe talking to Father Matt about secrets in marriage. Chloe lies that they were talking about Nicole and EJ. Father Matt suggests they come to marital counseling. Chloe is reluctant. Later, Arianna overhears Lucas tell Chloe he's keeping a secret of Sami's.

Kate confronts Daniel about his affair with Chloe. She won't say anything to Lucas because she owes Daniel for saving Philip's life, but warns that if he slips again, she'll make him pay. Kate overhears Chloe leaving a message for Daniel and tells her that, while she owes Daniel, she doesn't owe Chloe a thing. Chloe is stunned. Kate admits to Chloe she knows about the affair and fires her from the TV show. Lucas overhears this last part and demands an explanation. Chloe explains that her Vancouver job conflicted with the show and Kate says Chloe was horrible on camera. Later, Lucas leaves a message for Kate wanting to know the real reason she fired Chloe.

EJ realizes Stefano is still alive. Victortor enters and has a nurse give Stefano insulin, keeping him alive until EJ signs over all of DiMera Enterprises. EJ tries to attack Victortor but is knocked out by a thug. He wakes up on the pier, determined to save Stefano.

Stephanie accepts Philip's proposal and Victortor throws an impromptu celebration. Caroline shows up and has it out with Stephanie about what it means to be with a Kiriakis man. Stephanie won't be swayed. Meanwhile, EJ explains his dilemma to Nicole and she urges him to find a way to fight. EJ has a flashback to Stefano saying, "Look to me," which leads him to discover a treasure trove of important documents hidden inside his father's portrait. There is a phone number with the initials V.K. next to it. EJ calls the number, which rings to the Kiriakis' gardener, Owen.

EJ meets with Owen and learns about Stephanie and Philip's engagement. EJ enlists Owen's help in a new plan. EJ tells his attorney that he won't be selling DiMera Enterprises to Victor. Meanwhile, Owen drugs Stephanie's drink and watches as thirsty Philip lifts the glass. He drinks the drugged drink meant for Stephanie and passes out. He swears to Stephanie that he's fine; it's just a reaction to his pain medication. Melanie comes to bring Philip flowers and is disheartened to learn of his and Stephanie's engagement. Alone with Stephanie, Melanie says Stephanie will never be comfortable with the Kirakis lifestyle. Stephanie doesn't deny, and Philip is disturbed when he overhears. Melanie accidentally drops her bracelet when she leaves. Philip goes to bed, while Owen creeps up on Stephanie.

The drugged drink makes Philip irritable and irrational and he picks a fight with Stephanie. Fed up, she steps outside, where she's drugged by Owen and hidden inside a gardening bin. Melanie arrives, looking for her bracelet. She finds one of Stephanie's earrings on the ground outside. Meanwhile, Owen takes Stephanie to the morgue.

Nicole denies she tried to kill Baker but he doesn't believe her and insists on telling EJ about the baby switch. He can't reach EJ and comes to believe Nicole when she says EJ will kill him for taking part in the switch. Baker agrees to stay quiet as long as Nicole stays away from him. Later, he writes a letter saying that, in the event of his death, Nicole is responsible.

Rafe shows up at Sami's and agrees to go with her to Grace's appointment. Sami is shocked to see Baker at the hospital and flees. Nicole sees this and freaks out. When Lexie discharges Baker, Nicole is there with a wheelchair, ready to give him a lift. Meanwhile, Sami confides in Rafe that Baker delivered Grace. She fears Grace will be in grave danger if Baker talks. Rafe says he'll take care of it.

Rafe tracks Baker down just as two thugs are about to jump the doctor for not paying off a gambling debt. Rafe manages to fight the men off and gets Baker to agree to never tell Sami's secret. Baker tells Rafe he's leaving town. Meanwhile, Sami crosses with Nicole at the Java Café and the two women exchange heated words. Arianna breaks it up and makes them both uncomfortable when she notes that both their babies were born on the same day and that they both have a child fathered by EJ. Later, Baker calls Nicole and tells her he's leaving town.

Max confides his worry to Bo and Hope about not hearing from Chelsea after she called to tell him Billie had a setback. Later, Bo has a vision of finding Ciara's teddy bear abandoned in a forest clearing. Then, Ciara loses her bear. Bo thinks he knows where to find it, but Max ends up finding it upstairs. When Bo has the vision of the teddy bear in the forest clearing again, he suspects that it has yet to come true.

Lucas finds Kate getting ready to leave for London. He wants to know why her feelings for Chloe have changed. Kate keeps quiet, but when alone, she rips Chloe and Lucas' wedding photo in half. Meanwhile, Chloe and Dan discuss that Kate knows about their affair but isn't telling Lucas. Chloe feels they dodged a bullet because of her pact with God. Daniel, on the other hand, feels it has more to do with the sacrifices they've made to let each other go. He still doesn't believe Chloe is really happy. Later, Lucas wants to ask Daniel if he knows why Kate has changed her mind about Chloe. Chloe insists he leave Daniel out of it.

To keep up her lie that she was in rehab, Mia is forced into allowing Will to accompany her to a meeting. Brady confronts Mia about her drug use and her pregnancy. Mia admits she's never been to rehab but doesn't want "him" to know. Will enters just as Brady asks who "he" is. Mia explains to Brady that she's not an addict. She lied to Will in order to hide the truth about her pregnancy. Brady asks that she keep her baby a secret. Mia tells Will she lied to him; she has not been to any meetings since her rehab.

Sami is furious when EJ refuses to let Johnny leave for his arranged time. She goes with Grace to confront him and realizes something is up when she sees Stefano's destroyed portrait. Grace starts to cry and Sami realizes the baby's fever is back and worse than ever. Sami knocks EJ's cell phone out of his hand when he gets a call from Owen. EJ desperately tries to repair the phone and Sami realizes he is up to no good. She has no choice but to leave Johnny at the mansion for his own protection.

Daniel finds Philip collapsed and starts to call for an ambulance. Philip comes to and stops him. Philip has a flashback to his fight with Stephanie and is worried that he cannot find her. EJ finds another untraceable cell phone and calls Owen. Owen finally picks up the phone and tells EJ he has Stephanie. Stephanie wakes up and realizes she's been kidnapped. Owen snaps a photo of Stephanie with her cell phone and sends it to EJ.

Philip frantically searches for Stephanie. He crosses with Brady and questions his loyalty to the family when Brady suggests Philip go to the police. Meanwhile, Victor has his nurse administer the final dose of insulin to Stefano. EJ tells Philip he has Stephanie, just as Stephanie tries to attack Owen. Owen stops her and shuts her back inside the morgue drawer.

At first, Philip doesn't believe that EJ has Stephanie and tells him the feud is between them, not their loved ones. EJ shows Philip the photo of Stephanie and demands he release Stefano. EJ also tears up Philip and Victor's deal for Titan to buy DiMera Enterprises. Philip tells Victor the DiMeras have Stephanie. Victor refuses to release Stefano. Meanwhile, Stephanie tries to sweet talk Owen into letting her out of the drawer. She then knees him in the groin. Just as she's about to escape, her cell rings. Thinking it's Philip, she cries out for help, but it's EJ on the other end.

Victor explains to Philip that he'll appear weak if he releases Stefano. Philip makes a plea to Victor about love being more important than power and money. He brings up Victor's love for Caroline. Victor agrees to release Stefano. Meanwhile, Stephanie manages to escape but loses her phone when Owen grabs her again. She falls and hits her head. Owen brings her back to the morgue. Owen is not sure he can hand Stephanie over to EJ.

Nicole is thrilled to learn that EJ has come up with a plan to get Stefano back. Without knowing details, she pledges her undying support and they make love. EJ confides in Nicole about Stephanie's kidnapping. He's afraid that Stephanie may have escaped and he cannot find Owen. Nicole surprises EJ by expressing her loyalty to him, just as Philip calls EJ to tell him the trade is on.

EJ and Philip make plans to exchange Stephanie for Stefano. EJ tracks down Owen and instructs him on where to deliver Stephanie. Stephanie later tries to convince Owen to let her go. Owen tells EJ there's been a change of plans. Meanwhile, Brady walks in on Victor and Philip discussing the swap. Brady later tells Bo he thinks Stephanie's life is in danger. Philip anxiously waits on the pier for the swap to take place while we see Stefano slumped over in a van, seemingly dead.

Arianna questions Rafe about his attraction to Sami and realizes they have not yet slept together. Rafe tells Arianna about his and Sami's history. She hopes he won't get hurt. Later, Rafe gets angry when Sami vents about EJ but won't accept his help. They start to argue but Rafe pulls her into a passionate kiss. Sami and Rafe make love for the first time and profess their love for each other. They make love again and Rafe thinks he needs to make a bigger commitment. He says he wants to officially adopt Grace as his daughter.

Sami wonders if Rafe is also proposing marriage. Before he can answer, she says she's not ready to marry him. She wants to avoid the mistakes of her past relationships. They agree to take things slowly. Sami tells Will that Rafe is adopting Grace. Will is convinced that Sami is manipulating Rafe in some way. Arianna blows up at Rafe when he tells her about the adoption plans. She tells him he's getting way too involved and she's afraid that "it's all happening again." After her argument with Will, Sami walks in on Arianna telling Rafe she hopes Sami doesn't ruin his life. After Arianna leaves, Sami breaks down and Rafe comforts her.

Brady leaves Nicole a message about his meeting with Mia, just as Arianna overhears. Brady demands to know why Arianna was listening in on. She leaves, thinking Brady is a jerk. Later, they run into each other again at the Java Café and Arianna accidentally spills her hot coffee on Brady. She tends to his burns. She is sorry, but convinces Brady to buy her another cup of coffee. She learns he is Sami's half brother and is intrigued to learn that he's not a Sami fan either. Meanwhile, Melanie considers posting Stephanie's earring for sale on the internet but decides to call Stephanie instead. Brady praises her on her decision but Melanie is miffed when she doesn't hear back from Stephanie.

Mia visits Will. Will talks about his fight with Sami. Mia wonders about Grace's biological mom, having no idea she is holding her own baby in her arms.

When Owen refuses to bring Stephanie to him, EJ realizes he has no choice but to fake it. At their meeting, Philip realizes EJ has lied about having Stephanie and jumps him, only to be interrupted by the Salem P.D. Philip escapes while Stefano is found, barely alive.

Bo and Victor have it out over the events at the pier. Bo warns Victor that he will not hesitate to bring him down once he has proof Victor kidnapped Stefano. Later, Victor disowns Brady for involving the police in his dealings. He never wants to see Brady again. Meanwhile, Stefano awakens from his diabetic coma but Lexie warns he may have sustained permanent damage. Lexie makes a plea to EJ to help the police. Nicole, on the other hand, begs EJ not to tell the police anything that could land him in jail. Bo arrests EJ for assault but offers him a deal in exchange for info on Stephanie's whereabouts.

Caroline confronts Victor about the incident on the pier and tells him she's disappointed that he has not changed. Meanwhile, Brady asks Nicole where Stephanie is but she insists she truly does not know.

Kate returns home from London only to learn about Philip's troubles. Victor promises her he'll straighten out the mess, but his family members need to stay out of it.

Owen tells Stephanie he's setting her free, but that they will leave and start a new life together. He puts Stephanie back in the morgue drawer while he goes back to the Kiriakis mansion to get clothes for her. At the mansion, Melanie tells Philip she saw Owen at the mansion when she found Stephanie's earring. Left in the drawer, Stephanie is quickly running out of oxygen.

Philip and Melanie realize Owen is likely Stephanie's kidnapper. Melanie offers to help in tracking him down. She gets information about Owen's father's job at the mortuary and they set out to question him. Owen overhears that Philip and Melanie are on to him and realizes he and Stephanie must leave immediately. Stephanie stops breathing. Owen arrives and gives her mouth-to-mouth. Stephanie wakes up and, disoriented, she slaps Owen. Stephanie is terrified when he pulls out a gun.

Pretending to be looking for a final resting place for her grandmother, Melanie questions Owen's dad and tours the mortuary. Owen and Stephanie hide but Melanie spots one of Stephanie's earrings. Later, she tells Philip about the earring and also tells him she saw some hospital attendants delivering a body. Melanie suddenly gets an idea.

Melanie and Philip make plans to sneak him into the mortuary in a body bag so he can search for clues on Stephanie's whereabouts. Brady catches them and they're forced to include him in their plans. The hospital attendants take Philip to the mortuary but Owen's dad refuses to accept the body. Meanwhile, Stephanie tries to convince Owen that Melanie is not a threat; she is in love with Philip and wouldn't tell him about Stephanie's whereabouts even if she did know. Stephanie then tries to take Owen's gun by distracting him as they kiss. Owen catches her, drugs her again and puts her back in the drawer.

While Brady and Melanie wait outside for Philip, Owen sneaks up on them and knocks Brady unconscious. Melanie purposefully drops her hospital I.D. on the ground before Owen locks her and Brady in the Kiriakis mausoleum. Melanie thinks they will die there, but Brady is determined to get out. Meanwhile, Owen's father agrees to take Philip's body and puts it in one of the morgue drawers. Philip is able to unzip his bag. He's shocked to hear Stephanie crying; she's in the drawer next to his!

Off her confrontation with Victor, Caroline tells Sami she wishes she'd never told Bo that Victor was his father. Caroline is not happy when Sami tells her that Rafe plans to adopt Grace. They hardly know each other and Rafe does not have a job. Rafe arrives and reveals he got a job in construction. Arianna arrives and tells Caroline that Rafe is a good brother who practically raised her, but she agrees that the adoption is a mistake. Rafe and Sami realize it's them against the world.

Brady tells Nicole that Mia is lying about being an addict to keep her pregnancy a secret from Will. Nicole is horrified that Mia is seeing Will and meets with Mia to tell her to stay away from Sami's son. Mia tells Nicole that Rafe is adopting Grace. Also, Mia overhears Will defending her to Kinsey and is touched. Mia tells Nicole she'll keep the secret about her pregnancy but she wants Nicole to leave her alone and let her live her life.

Mia rejoins Will and the pair have a fun time at the local arcade. Will tries to imitate a dance move of Mia's and starts to fall. Mia catches him and they nearly kiss. They are interrupted by Mia's cousin, Jamie. Jamie tells Mia she is leaving town and Mia will have to go back to live with her mother. Mia admits to Maggie that she doesn't want to move because of Will. Lucas gathers Will is interested in a girl but he insists that they are just friends.

Lucas and Daniel both have disturbing dreams about Chloe. Daniel considers leaving town. He runs into Chloe and reveals that he's not leaving because he'll still love her no matter where he is. Chloe admits to Daniel that she is not happy. Lucas goes to see Maggie and reveals he thinks Chloe, Kate and Daniel are keeping something from him. Maggie's reaction only feeds his suspicions. Lucas has a flash to when he was drunk. Is he starting to remember?

Lucas presses Maggie again to tell him what she knows but she covers. Later, Chloe tells Maggie she kept her deal with God so she can't believe Lucas is suspicious. Chloe goes to the Kiriakis mansion where Victor insults her and says he still blames her for Brady's drug problems. Upset, Chloe runs into Daniel's arms for comfort and Kate sees.

April 2009

Philip and Stephanie cross with angry Stefano. He still blames Philip for Tony's death. Philip insists Stefano should be angry with himself for driving Tony away; however, he understands his loss. Stefano says Philip will understand nothing until he loses a child of his own. Stephanie later tells Philip he's free of Victor now. Philip moves out of the mansion and into Stephanie's apartment. They kiss, about to make love.

Stefano prays over the spot where Tony was killed and vows revenge. Victor walks in and expresses his condolences. Stefano subtly warns Victor that someday, he'll understand how Stefano feels. Later, Victor tracks Philip down at Stephanie's and interrupts their foreplay. Victor offers Philip his job back and asks him to come home. Stephanie begs Philip not to go back. Meanwhile, Stefano calls an Italian contact, saying he needs a job done and naming Philip.

Philip decides to go back to work at Titan. Stephanie is hurt and breaks up with him. Chelsea convinces Stephanie to fight for the man she loves. Stephanie shows up at the mansion and reconciles with Philip.

Max overhears EJ vowing to avenge Tony's death. He offers some words of wisdom and asks EJ what Tony would have wanted. EJ seems receptive until Chelsea arrives and defends Philip.

Nicole learns Dr. Baker has taken a job as a pediatrician at the hospital. She fires him as Sydney's doctor and starts to leave when he says he knows Mia's back in town.

Will convinces Mia to hold Grace, and she feels an instant connection. Nicole later meets with Mia and lays down strict ground rules about who she can and can't talk to. Mia agrees but refuses to leave town because she feels a connection to Salem. Sami goes to comfort EJ about Tony. She almost tells him the truth about Grace but Stefano interrupts. Sami sees how determined EJ is to get revenge on Philip and decides not to tell him he is Grace's father.

Nicole interrupts a close moment between EJ and Sami and brags about her wedding plans. Sami notices the tension between Nicole and EJ and calls him on it. EJ learns Nicole has fired Dr. Baker and is furious with her for not telling him. Nicole complains about juggling too much and EJ suggests they reevaluate their wedding plans.

Will warns Rafe that Sami doesn't have a great track record when it comes to men. Later, Sami confides in Rafe that, if she were to tell EJ about Grace, it would destroy Nicole. She admits that, after her talks with Sister Theresa, Will and Bo, she's finding it hard to deny Grace her real father. Rafe thinks Sami is acting foolishly. Sami tells Rafe it's not up to him and he storms out.

Nicole is un-spooling and her wedding planner calls in Chloe for help. Nicole asks if Chloe regrets anything about her marriage to Lucas. She says no. EJ, hot off his confrontation with Chelsea, shows up at the church and witnesses Stephanie thanking Nicole for what she did for Philip. EJ and Nicole argue and she demands to know if they are getting married the next day or not. EJ says they'll see what tomorrow brings. Nicole presses EJ for an answer but he storms out of the church. She breaks down. Brady arrives and tries to get Nicole to reconsider telling EJ the truth. She refuses, saying she'd lose everything. Brady tenderly reminds her she'd still have him.

Sami asks Caroline if she regretted not telling Victor about being Bo's father. Caroline admits Victor deserved to know the truth. Sister Agnes tells Rafe that Sister Theresa did not offer any advice to Sami that was not already in her heart and cautions him not to do anything hasty. Rafe apologizes to Sami and tells her that whatever she chooses, it's her decision, but he can't stick around while she's still in love with EJ. Meanwhile, Nicole fantasizes about losing Sydney to Sami. She sees Rafe and realizes she knows him, while Mia bumps into EJ.

Maggie arrives for an interview with Chloe for Hearth and Home. Maggie gives her a wedding gift – a family bible – and hopes Chloe will be a devoted wife to Lucas. Later, Chloe runs into Daniel and they talk about her pregnancy scare. Kate trails Chelsea on the job at the hospital and manages to pocket the key to the pharmacy. She is about to forge Daniel's signature and sign out the deadly drug when she's foiled by unsuspecting Melanie.

Chloe is offered a role with the Vancouver Opera. Lucas tells Kate about the offer. Kate insists she needs Chloe in Salem to devote her full attention to Hearth and Home, but backs down when she realizes the travel will wear Chloe out.

Chelsea walks in on Philip and Stephanie about to make love. Stephanie informs her that she's offered to let Philip stay over as long as he needs to. Later, Chelsea and Max are about to make love when Stephanie walks in on them. They discuss the awkwardness of the roommate situation. Max warns Stephanie to be wary of Philip. He's afraid she'll be endangered by the DiMera's plans for revenge. Chelsea watches, afraid that sparks are reigniting between Max and Stephanie.

Mia learns from Will about Nicole's past as a drunk and a porn star who has attempted murder. Mia vows that she'll get her baby back. Stefano pressures EJ to cancel the wedding, until Nicole tells the two men that Rafe was the "cable guy" she saw at the DiMera mansion. Sami arrives at the mansion to talk to EJ. He confronts her about Rafe's intrusion and slams the door in her face. EJ tells Nicole he wants to marry her while Sami vows that she will tell the truth about Grace. Meanwhile, Rafe tells Sister Agnes he is leaving town; he has no place in Sami's life.

Mia confronts Nicole, who is getting ready for her wedding at the Horton cabin. She accuses Nicole of lying and insists on taking Sydney back. Nicole admits to her past but insists that she's changed. Mia is not convinced. Nicole calmly insists that, if the truth comes out, it won't be good for Mia and Sydney, either. There is a very good chance Mia won't gain custody of Sydney if she tells the truth. Mia finally agrees to stay silent and leaves. Brady shows up and attempts to tell Nicole that he loves her and to convince her not to marry EJ, but he fails. Nicole insists she's in love with EJ and is not the right woman for Brady.

Rafe stops by Sami's to give her the medallion and runs into Will instead. Will thinks Sami has dumped Rafe already. Grace starts crying and Rafe decides to stay to help out. Later, Mia visits Will but she can't tell him why she's so upset. They are interrupted by Grace's crying and Mia ends up holding Grace.

Nicole admits to Chloe that Brady's visit upset her. Chloe gives Nicole a bracelet ("something new") but it breaks, which Nicole thinks is a bad omen. Chloe suspects that Nicole has Sami on her mind. After mulling it over, Nicole is finally confident that her wedding will happen. Meanwhile, Sami tells Lucas that Grace is EJ's child and she plans to tell him the truth, despite the fact that it is his wedding day.

EJ and Stefano have decided to move forward with their revenge plan against Philip. Stefano tells EJ they must act while the Kiriakis' guard is down. Stefano introduces EJ to Masi, who has just flown in from Italy. EJ instructs Masi to "do it now." Meanwhile, Stephanie's romantic plans with Philip are interrupted by his constant business calls so she leaves. Philip gets a call to meet with a client and shows up at the hotel to find Stephanie, dressed in a negligee. The two finally make love. Meanwhile, Masi tracks them down and ends up right outside the hotel door. As Stephanie goes to take a shower, Masi enters the hotel room and shoots Philip point blank.

Nicole arrives at the church and is feeling confident until Dr. Baker shows up. Baker says he's there to protect both of their interests. Chloe runs into Brady, who wants to speak with Nicole. Chloe insists it's not a good idea but agrees to ask Nicole. EJ sees Brady and asks him to leave. The wedding begins and Brady decides to leave. As he walks on the pier, he hears one of Stefano's thugs coming up behind him. Meanwhile, Sami's efforts to get to the church with Grace are thwarted by a flat tire. Max helps Sami out but realizes Grace may have a fever and insists that Sami not take her to the church. At the wedding, the priest asks if anyone has any objections, and Mia steps forward.

Dr. Baker pulls Mia out of the church. He takes her to the Java Café and shows her numerous articles about how evil the DiMeras are, finally convincing her that telling the truth could only hurt Sydney. Back at the church, Stefano refuses to hand over the rings until Nicole fully accepts her responsibility as a DiMera. EJ then takes the opportunity to recite his own vows about how their family will always come first. Meanwhile, Sami realizes Grace has a fever because she is teething and takes off for the church. Nicole and EJ are just about to be officially married when Sami enters with Grace.

Sami interrupts the wedding and EJ pulls her and Nicole into the vestibule. Nicole assails Sami for trying to ruin her day. Lexie bursts in just before Sami can tell EJ her news and reveals that Philip has been shot. Sami immediately accuses EJ and leaves. Nicole seems willing to forget about Philip for the moment if EJ will forget about Sami so they can continue their wedding ceremony. Nicole and EJ are wed. Sami returns to the church and, alone with EJ, demands the truth about Philip. EJ tells her he'll give her the truth if she tells him why she interrupted his wedding. He thinks he knows why.

EJ confronts Sami, saying he knows she interrupted his wedding because she's still in love with him. Sami initially denies, but then realizes this will draw his attention away from her real reason for bringing Grace to the church. Meanwhile, Chloe warns Nicole against checking in on EJ. Nicole tells Chloe about Philip and she leaves for the hospital. Nicole and EJ reconnect and he tells her they should cancel their reception. Nicole has already put it on hold and agrees to a quiet night at home. Later, Nicole overhears EJ leaving a cryptic message for Stefano about finishing the job himself if necessary.

Sami returns home and learns Rafe dropped off her religious medal. She tries to call him and learns his phone has been disconnected. With Roman's help, she tracks him down and meets him at the airport, just as he's about to board a plane to New York, to tell him just how much he means to her.

Melanie tries to scam her way to a free dinner but is caught. Brady saves the day and they bond. Melanie observes that Brady is obviously hung up on a woman, but he avoids her questions. Melanie urges Brady to tell the woman he loves how he really feels.

A new waitress, Arianna, begins working at the Brady Pub. She hurts her hand and Max examines it just as Chelsea arrives. Melanie finds Max's secret envelope and reveals to Chelsea that Max is applying to medical school. Chelsea is initially hurt that Max did not confide in her, but ends up giving him her full support.

Melanie finds an angry Brady at the pier. She asks what's wrong and ends up kissing him. Brady stops, realizing it was a mistake. He lets on that the woman he's in love with is getting married and Melanie realizes it's Nicole. She urges him to stay away from Nicole, fearful of what EJ would do to him if he found out Brady's intentions. Brady still feels the urge to protect Nicole from EJ.

Kate insists that Chloe meet with her; she has a surprise for her. The surprise turns out to be Daniel, who has already agreed to be a guest on the Hearth and Home show. When Daniel finds out Chloe is the host, they both he insist it's a bad idea. Kate won't take no for an answer, but then learns the studio where the show was to be taped has burned down. Maggie comes to the rescue and offers up Chez Rouge as a location. Kate's thrilled and explains to Daniel and Chloe that the segment will be about healthy foods, which Chloe will have to eat.

Bo has another vision of Hope and Roman in bed and in the vision sees a newspaper with that day's date! He begins frantically trying to track down Hope. Meanwhile, Hope learns she will be going on a stake-out with Roman at a motel. They end up at a motel, watching a drug dealer. The radio to the station is out and they cannot use their cell phones or the motel phone. Roman bumps into Hope, spilling her coffee and she's forced to change into a robe to wash her blouse. Suddenly Roman sees the bad guys have spotted him and they are coming straight for the door. They're trapped inside. It turns out to be the maid at the door, but then Hope realizes the bad guys did spot them and are preparing an assault. Roman and Hope take defensive positions and are about to fire when Bo bursts through the door! The Salem PD has arrived and Roman goes out to help with the arrests. Bo realizes his vision didn't happen exactly as he saw it and tells Hope he's sorry for not trusting her. They embrace.

Philip is shot and Stephanie emerges from the bathroom. The killer nearly shoots her as well but is interrupted when two hotel workers enter the room. The killer escapes and Philip is rushed to the hospital where Daniel fights to save him. Victor arrives and confronts Stefano. Meanwhile, Stephanie begs Philip to live and he opens his eyes, only to flat-line. Daniel refuses to give up on Philip while Kate, Victor, Stephanie and Bo wait anxiously. Victor clashes with Stefano in a near physical fight, which Kate breaks up. Kate slaps Stefano and tells him she'll never forgive him. Stefano is deeply affected. Daniel receives Philip's test results and reveals there's been a complication.

Philip's blood won't clot and he is bleeding out. Kate gives her consent to Daniel to try an experimental therapy. Stephanie, alone with Philip, professes her love. Philip awakens and his prognosis improves. Meanwhile, Bo questions Stefano at the Java Café and overhears him making a call to EJ. He vows to nail Stefano once and for all. Stefano later arrives at the DiMera mansion and is stricken with a pain, while Victor sits at Philip's bedside promising that the DiMera's will pay.

Brady tries to dissuade Victor from his plans for revenge but it's no use. Meanwhile, Roman pays EJ and Stefano a visit and warns against leaving town. EJ and Nicole later run into Victor and Brady. Victor tells Nicole how EJ's men beat up Brady and warns her that she could be next if she crosses her husband. Brady confronts EJ, determined to make him pay. At the same time, Stefano is not feeling well and goes to get a coffee, only to realize the barista from yesterday is no longer working there. Stefano thinks he's been poisoned!

Nicole is surprised by a DiMera thug, who is hiding by the doorstep when she and EJ return home. Nicole realizes guns and guards will be a regular part of her and Sydney's lives going forward. Nicole and EJ come to an understanding that they both have their own secrets. After enjoying a sweet, improvised wedding reception at home – and being interrupted by Stefano – they consummate their marriage.

Nicole receives a call from Mia. She overhears Stefano tell EJ that everyone should stay in the mansion for the time being but manages to convince him to let her go out with Sydney, with a bodyguard. Nicole meets Mia on the pier and lets her hold Sydney one last time. Mia is distraught when she feels no connection to the baby. While leaving, Mia accidentally cuts herself and goes to the hospital, where Dr. Baker treats her. She tells Baker about not feeling a connection to Sydney and Baker explains there's a reason for that – and it's time she knew. Baker assures her that this is because Sydney is no longer "hers" but Mia will be an excellent mother someday. She visit's Will in the hopes of seeing Grace. Mia connects with Grace.

Melanie discovers a badly beaten Brady on the pier and brings him to the Pub where he tells Max and Sami that he was mugged. They then go to the hospital, where Melanie confesses she feels guilty over Brady's injuries. Brady insists that she is not to blame. Brady sees another side of Melanie when she genuinely comforts Stephanie. Brady tells Melanie he's moving on from Nicole.

Kate promises to drop her plans of revenge against Daniel and Chloe if Philip survives. Victor expresses her support. Meanwhile, Chloe and Daniel fight their lingering feelings for each other when she thanks him for helping Philip.

Lexie tests Stefano for poisoning and learns that he wasn't poisoned, but something is terribly wrong. He has diabetes. To EJ's surprise, Stefano leaves the hospital, saying he'll get treatment in Brunei. EJ assures him he's comfortable handling the vendetta alone. Stefano and EJ say goodbye at the airport, unaware that a man has followed Stefano through security. Meanwhile, the cop guarding Philip gives Stephanie some trouble when she comes to visit. Philip later kicks Lexie out, refusing to be treated by a DiMera. Alone, Stephanie apologizes to Lexie. When Lexie asks how Stephanie is doing, she breaks down. Stephanie later crawls into bed with Philip, assuring him that she'll take care of them both.

A cop harasses Chloe outside of Philip's hospital room. Brady saves the day, telling the cop to not touch her again. Brady tells Chloe that he's no longer in love with Nicole. Chloe is happy for him, but worries that he is going to the dark side with Victor over this feud with the DiMeras. Chloe begs Brady to reconsider.

Stephanie has a surprise for Philip – she's bought him plane tickets, so they can run away together, for as long as it takes to keep him safe. Philip intends to stay in Salem to help Victor with the feud. Melanie enters and Philip sees a softer side of her when she says she's sorry for what happened. Melanie later finds the torn up plane tickets and realizes there is trouble in paradise.

While out with Will on a "date," one of his friends recognizes Mia's name and starts to ask questions about her past as a popular student at Salem West. Mia freaks out and later claims to Will that she's told him nothing of her past because there is nothing to tell.

Chelsea finds out that Max applied to medical school in Chicago. She is upset over the possibility of Max moving away, but he insists that he won't go. They kiss, realizing how much they mean to each other. Melanie catches Chelsea accessing (by accident) the medical school applications and alerts both Dr. Baker and Max. Baker chastises Chelsea. Max forgives her and promises he's staying in Salem. Later, Chelsea learns Billie has been in an accident in London. She and Kate learn Billie's injuries are severe and someone will need to help her in London. Chelsea volunteers and has to say her goodbyes. Chelsea calls Max and says they need to talk.

Nicole meets with Dr. Baker and tells him he and Sami can never meet again, ash she might learn he delivered both Grace and Sydney. Meanwhile, Sami begs Rafe, whose plane is boarding, to hear her out about how he was right not to tell EJ about Grace. Rafe insists Sami will never change. Sami tells Rafe how much he means to her and he finally concedes to his feelings as well. They go back to Sami's townhouse and it looks like they'll make love, until EJ interrupts. He makes a case for why Sami still loves him. Rafe overhears and insists that EJ leave. Alone, Rafe demands to know what feelings Sami has for EJ. She insists she only has feelings for Rafe. He's not convinced and leaves. Later, it appears he's moved on after a warm reunion with Arianna.

Hope arrives at the DiMera mansion to question Nicole. Nicole refuses to incriminate her new family and throws Hope out. EJ returns and Nicole realizes he's been to see Sami, but she puts her worries aside when he insists on making love. EJ is stunned when he has a vision of Sami while in bed with Nicole. She calls him on his strange behavior. EJ says he doesn't need to tell Nicole everything (to protect her) and that it's okay for them to have some secrets. EJ receives a call from the hitman, Masi, who intends to finish the job for Stefano. Because of a bad connection, Masi doesn't hear EJ's order to stop and puts his plan in motion. EJ gets another call about a file that Stefano emailed him. EJ checks his email and sees the file is on Dr. Baker!

Sami tells Lucas to keep quiet about Grace. Will overhears Lucas promising to keep her secret and is not happy that he is getting involved in Sami's shenanigans. Will informs Lucas he had a nice talk with Chloe and doesn't want his father to screw things up with his new bride by keeping secrets. Meanwhile, Rafe and Arianna have spent the night catching up. She appears to be an old flame that is upset with him for not keeping in touch. Rafe tells Arianna that he loves her and she'll always be in his heart, just as Sami arrives and overhears.

Chloe runs into Father Matt, who asks if she ever told her husband about her affair. Chloe says some secrets are best kept, and it seems like Lucas may have overheard. Meanwhile, Kate tells Daniel she knows he had an affair with Chloe.

March 2009

Sami and Lucas are reunited with Will. Later, Lucas confesses to Will that he started drinking again. Chloe enters and Will accuses her of being the reason Lucas almost died. Meanwhile, EJ drops off one of Johnny's toys at Sami's. Sami calls Sister Theresa and tells hers she's working on a plan to bring Grace home. Sami tells EJ she can tell he's having second thoughts about his wedding and asks him not to marry Nicole. EJ asks if she's saying they should get married, instead. Meanwhile, Sami warns EJ against Nicole and they argue. Sami admits there's a part of her that will always love EJ. She tries to get EJ to protect Johnny from the DiMera way of life, but he says all he can do is love his child and let him make his own choices. Sami wonders if she's made the wrong decision to keep Grace from EJ. Sami and EJ have a warm moment just as there's a knock on the door. EJ answers to Rafe.

Sami hugs Rafe. She tells EJ she owes Rafe her life. Rafe admits they got quite close in the safe house, and EJ is not happy. Rafe makes a remark about being good with babies and Sami later confronts him. He admits he went to see Grace. Sami wishes he could protect her like he did in the safe house. Rafe takes Sami in his arms and promises he'll always protect her. Rafe says he has to leave, and Sami kisses him.

Nicole runs into Brady and tells him EJ forbade her to see him. Brady suggests she and Sydney get out of the DiMera house. Nicole assures him things will be fine and gives him a friendly kiss on the cheek. Nicole is upset to learn EJ went to see Sami. She meets with Chloe, who tells her that Sami's baby was stillborn. Chloe urges Nicole to fight for her man. Meanwhile, Nicole vents to Stefano about Sami. Nicole privately vows to find out what Sami has done with Grace. She gets ready to leave, and Stefano asks her where she's going. Nicole thinks he has a lot of nerve to ask her that and heads to the convent. Stefano learns where she went.

Sami finds EJ at the police station filing a complaint about Rafe and lays into him. EJ reveals to Roman he saw Sami and Rafe kissing. He later asks Sami if she loves Rafe and she admits she does, as a friend, and hopes the two of them have a shot at a relationship. EJ tells Roman to do his best to reinstate Rafe in the FBI, in order to keep him away from Sami. Sami heads to the Pub where she sees Sydney crying and picks her up. Nicole sees and freaks.

Nicole takes Sydney back from Sami. Sami tells Nicole about EJ's reaction to meeting Rafe and insists that EJ is still in love with her. Sami tells Nicole that she'd better rein in her man. Meanwhile, Stefano warns EJ to get Sami and Nicole both under control and nearly reveals Nicole's visit to the convent. Instead, he warns EJ to keep a closer eye on Nicole. Later, Stefano instructs one of his minions to find out why Nicole was at the convent. Sami calls Sister Theresa and asks if anyone else besides Rafe has seen Grace. Theresa admits a young woman stopped by and Sami panics.

Chloe begs Maggie not to tell Lucas again about her affair with Daniel. Meanwhile, Kate is busy plotting her revenge. Stefano joins Kate and Victor at the Pub and asks her on a date. Kate says she'll think about it.

Chloe and Lucas decide to give their relationship a second chance. Will is seemingly supportive, but wary. He tells Lucas he will finish the semester at Salem High. Lucas asks Will to be his best man. Meanwhile, Chelsea finds Daniel drowning his sorrows. He apologizes for being such a dog to her. Max makes it clear that he and Chelsea are together. Daniel wishes them well. Daniel later sees Chelsea and Max kiss and can't help but think Chloe has made the right choice, too.

Nicole and Chloe try on wedding and bridesmaid dresses. Nicole calls Chloe out when she becomes defensive about her reasons for marrying Lucas. Meanwhile, Daniel confides in Brady that he's hurting over a woman who's engaged to be married. Brady admits he knows what that feels like. Chloe sees Daniel and is breathless. Brady sees this and makes the connection.

Chloe has lunch with Kate, who makes subtle digs the whole time. She even calls Daniel over for his opinion on Chloe's wedding dress (she has brought Kate a photo) and delights in Chloe's discomfort.

Philip goes to EJ's to find out why he backed out of the fuel project. EJ claims there's no catch, but warns him to be afraid of the DiMera family. At Sami's, EJ calls Stefano and tells him Philip took the bait. Meanwhile, Philip confides to Victor that he hopes all the sacrifices he's made for the family business are worth it.

Max proposes that he and Chelsea go on a real date. He takes her to the park and they kiss. Things heat up and they head back to Chelsea's. They wake up in bed and we learn they decided not to have sex. Chelsea admits she feels more comfortable this morning, though, and they finally make love.

Melanie goes to EJ and asks for the rest of the money for the fuel project. EJ tells her the deal's off. Meanwhile, Philip has called Stephanie to his office, where he kisses her. Melanie interrupts and confronts Philip. He tells Melanie they are done unless she wants to admit to corporate espionage. Melanie visits Max, who tells her she's her own worst enemy. Brady sees Melanie in tears and comforts her. Back at Titan, Stephanie helps Philip find an important file and notices on the computer that something is not right.

Hope realizes Bo is keeping something from her and presses him. Bo admits he had a vision of her making love to another man. Hope thinks Bo is being ridiculous; it's like he doesn't trust her. Hope professes her love for Bo and they head upstairs. Bo wakes up tormented by the vision of Hope with another man. He goes downstairs and catches Chelsea and Max doing the walk of shame. He yells at Max to leave. Hope goes to apologize to Max while Bo apologizes to Chelsea. Hope runs into Daniel and they have a nice moment.

Nicole calls Brady and asks him to find out what's going on at Titan, and if she has anything to worry about re: Philip's blackmail. Sami visits Sister Theresa and asks her not to let anyone else hold Grace. She later talks to Roman and asks him to pull some strings for Rafe so he can stay in Salem. Meanwhile, Nicole vows to find out what Sami's up to and to protect Grace.

Rafe runs into Sami and she learns he's lost his job with the FBI. Rafe overhears her speaking to Abe on his behalf and gets angry. Lucas runs into Sami and Rafe and brings up her baby. Sami quickly changes the subject to Chloe, but Lucas refuses to listen to her badmouth his fiancée.

Nicole's confidence grows when Dr. Baker tells her he's leaving town. Lucas takes the wind out of Nicole's sails when he comments on how much Sydney looks like Allie. Nicole runs into Sami and torments her over her happiness with EJ and Sydney. Sami misses Grace more than ever. She runs to Rafe and tells him she needs him. Meanwhile, Rafe formally applies for a job with the Salem PD. Concerned by Sami and Rafe's closeness, Roman calls in a favor to get Rafe a job in New York. Rafe accepts.

Sami wants to bring Grace back to Salem, but Rafe urges her to stick with her plan. Will shows up and witnesses a close moment between Sami and Rafe. He talks about wanting Sami and Lucas together, but she says that's not going to happen. Will suspects Sami is up to something. Meanwhile, Rafe passes on the New York job.

Philip discovers that a virus has destroyed Titan's files, including the alternative fuel project. He confronts EJ, who retains the upper hand. Philip later shrugs off Stephanie's comfort and worries about Victor's reaction. Meanwhile, Brady and Melanie bond playing darts. Melanie learns from Brady that the fuel project files were destroyed.

Nicole and EJ finally make love. Afterward, Nicole receives a mysterious phone call, from Philip. He tells her EJ was responsible for destroying Titan's files, so he's going to tell him that she and Brady are having an affair. Nicole runs to meet Brady, who promises he'll take care of her. He insists he's doing this out of friendship, not love, but we see he's lying.

Kate toys with Daniel, saying she had a premonition that there was a good reason to stop Chloe and Lucas's wedding. Daniel starts to doubt that he's made the right decision and goes to the chapel to pray for a sign. Chloe appears at the chapel, but rushes out before Daniel sees her. Chloe begs Lucas to elope and they argue. Lucas is convinced Chloe is not telling him everything and he ends up talking to Daniel about his troubles. It looks like Daniel might tell Lucas about the affair. Meanwhile, Chloe tells Will all about her love for Lucas and asks him to talk to his father on her behalf.

Daniel urges Lucas to give Chloe whatever she wants. Will tells Chloe she needs to take up her issues directly with Lucas. Lucas tells Chloe he will elope with her.

Kate goes to Victor, intent on destroying Chloe, but he warns her that the truth about the affair has to come from someone other than her. Kate tracks down Daniel and asks if he had an affair with Chloe. Daniel denies he and Chloe are having an affair. When Kate wonders if Chloe would be jealous of the two of them, Daniel assumes Kate wants to get back together. Daniel says Kate doesn't love him and he's not interested in a fling. Meanwhile, Lucas asks Will if he'll be his best man in Vegas. Will declines. Kate arrives to confront Chloe, but Will informs her Chloe and Lucas left for Vegas.

Roman summons Stefano to the station for follow-up questioning about the Mayor's murder. We later see that Stefano was behind the murder, and he's willing to kill again to protect his secret.

Melanie learns that not only were Titan's files destroyed by a virus, but the hard copy of the fuel project was torched. Melanie confronts EJ and learns he never wanted the alternative fuel project to become a success. Tony overhears and later suggests he and Melanie can help each other. Meanwhile, Philip is devastated and Stephanie likes seeing his vulnerable side. They make love and Stephanie assures Philip that she's not going anywhere.

Chelsea admits to Stephanie that she and Max made love. Stephanie insists she's fine with that. Later, Chelsea overhears Max talking to Will about wanting a family someday. Reminded of her inability to have children, Chelsea seeks out Daniel's advice, but there is nothing he can do. Chelsea breaks things off with Max. She admits that she overheard him say he wants to be a parent. Max insists that if he and Chelsea have a future together, they'll work things out; after all, they are both adopted. They kiss and make up.

Daniel buys Hope coffee at the pub, and they talk. Abe shows up, and Hope is thrilled when he reinstates her on the force. Bo has another vision and is uneasy when he sees Hope talking with Rafe.

EJ and Nicole decide to have Sydney christened, and Stefano suggests the Convent of the Holy Cross. Nicole panics when Stefano asks her why she went to the convent. She covers, saying she was doing charity work. Meanwhile, Sami learns Grace has a rash, and Rafe offers to bring more ointment to the convent. Nicole and EJ meet Sami at the pub to pick up Johnny. EJ invites Sami to the christening. Nicole is forced to play along and Sami accepts. Sami calls Rafe and tells him she has to find a way to bring Grace home. Meanwhile, we also see Mia on a plane arriving from Japan, determined to take back her baby.

Brady confronts Philip and tells him he and Nicole are not having an affair and Philip better stay the hell away from Nicole.

Everyone prepares for the christening, while Nicole recalls her actions re: the baby switch and is assured she's done the right thing. Meanwhile, Tony runs into Mia and manipulates her into revealing that Nicole has Mia's baby. EJ sees Sami holding Sydney and comments on how "right" she looks with the baby. Will finds Mia crying at the pier.

Tony reveals to Nicole that he spoke with Mia. Nicole tries to throw him off, saying that Mia is trying to blackmail her, but Tony threatens to tell Stefano and EJ about her. Nicole asks Tony what he's going to do and he tells her she'll know in good time. At the same time, EJ points out to Sami that it could very well have been the two of them christening their child today. Sami insists that ship has sailed. The ceremony begins and the priest asks Lexie and Tony to step forward as godparents. Tony stalls and Nicole panics. Meanwhile, Rafe talks with Sister Agnes about Sami and Agnes reminds him this isn't the first time Rafe has made a sacrifice for a woman.

Mia shows up at the pub and chats with Will. Will comments on how he's missed being a big brother to Allie and Johnny. Mia freaks and runs out, leaving her house keys.

Nicole faints when she thinks Tony will reveal Sydney is not her baby. Tony stays quiet and Sydney is christened. Mia arrives at the church to pray and is transfixed when she sees Sydney. She leaves without interrupting the ceremony and returns to the pub to retrieve her keys. Will persuades her to take some food and asks if he'll see her at Salem High. She says maybe. At the post-christening reception, Stefano hints to EJ that Nicole is hiding something. Nicole confronts Tony, who says he'll reveal the truth when doing so will cause the most harm to EJ. Meanwhile, Sami tells Rafe she's going to get Grace today, but he convinces her to wait. Sami goes to pick up Johnny and gets a call from Sister Theresa that Grace is fussy. Sami blurts out that she's coming to bring her baby home. EJ overhears and reacts.

Kate tells Victor about her plans to stop Chloe and Lucas from eloping. Victor tries to dissuade her, but we later see Kate is on a plane to Las Vegas. Meanwhile Lucas and Chloe arrive in Vegas at the Justice of the Peace to get married. They have their wedding ceremony, while Kate makes frantic phone calls from the plane to try and stop it. She arrives at the chapel after everyone has left and watches the wedding video. Kate decides she must kill Chloe!

Tony tries to convince Melanie they should become partners in her fuel project. Melanie finally agrees. She goes to Max to get the last remaining copies of the project blueprints, but he refuses to give them to her.

Brady consults Bo about the Titan espionage and realizes Philip never filed a police report. Max lies to Brady when asked if any other plans exist for the fuel project. Victor finds out from Brady what happened and lays into Philip. Meanwhile, Bo realizes Stephanie is sleeping over at Philip's and warns her to be careful. Melanie steals the fuel project plans from the Cheatin' Heart safe.

Melanie thinks Tony is going to double-cross her and she admits all to Max. She meets with Philip and tells him Tony has the plans. If Philip recovers them, she wants to be reinstated at Titan. Philip rushes off to find Tony and Stephanie, worried, calls Brady for help. Stephanie and Brady find Philip, who calmly vows that Tony will pay.

Hope lends an ear to Daniel, who is clearly upset. She puts her arm around him and Bo walks in and sees this. Hope chides Bo over his jealousy. Bo has another vision of Hope with the mystery man. In the vision, she says she never thought Bo's premonition would come true.

Tony and Nicole overhear Sami tell Stefano and EJ she's adopting a baby. Tony keeps Nicole's secret under wraps. Nicole has her first drink in months and calls Brady for help with a new scheme. Meanwhile, Brady introduces himself to Rafe as Sami's stepbrother and realizes Rafe has feelings for Sami. Sami tells Rafe she's taking Grace home now. Rafe storms out, furious that Sami did not listen to him.

Nicole tells Brady that Tony knows she's not Sydney's biological mother. She asks for his help in stealing the fuel project from Tony. Brady lures Tony to the pier while Nicole searches his room, but she doesn't find the plans. Nicole learns that Tony is on to them. Nicole confronts Mia about telling Tony that Sydney is her baby and warns that he will do anything to get revenge on EJ, including hurt Sydney.

Sami runs into Rafe and they are cool with each other. Sami learns Rafe turned down the job in New York for her and, touched, she confronts him. They end up kissing. Rafe tells Sami he'll go with her to get Grace. Sami is reunited with Grace, unaware she's not really her baby. Sami says goodbye to the convent and meets Sister Agnes. She questions the nun about Rafe's past and learns he has a tragic history. Sami later tells Rafe she wants to baptize Grace and wants him to be the godfather. The baptism begins.

Daniel tells Maggie she was right to condemn him for his affair with Chloe. Maggie realizes Daniel has sacrificed his own happiness to ensure Chloe's happiness with Lucas. Meanwhile, Chloe and Lucas run into Kate who tells them to annul their marriage and have a big wedding back in Salem. Chloe is resolved to stay married to Lucas and Kate ominously tells her to remember that was her decision.

Kate fantasizes about killing Chloe and telling Lucas about the affair. Kate tells Lucas she's worried Chloe will break his heart. Lucas defends Chloe, but Kate is still determined to find a way to get rid of her and starts Googling for ideas.

Daniel visits Brady, who admits it feels odd that Chloe has remarried. Kate gets Daniel to promise to say nothing about her accusation that he and Chloe had an affair. She digs for information about a dangerous drug that Daniel works with and we see she plans to poison Chloe. Daniel congratulates Chloe on her marriage, but inside, his heart is breaking. Daniel tells Chloe he's sorry he hurt her. Lucas arrives and privately thanks Daniel for urging him to elope. Later at the pub, Chloe talks to Lucas about how her doctor retired and she'll have to find a new one. She grows nauseous but assures Lucas it's just from exhaustion. Later, Chloe checks her calendar and is not happy with her discovery.

Chelsea tells Max about a play that Theo's in. Theo surprises her by saying he doesn't want to be the lion in the play. Max convinces Theo to accept the role and Chelsea is impressed. Chelsea and Stephanie agree to be roommates and hope that their boyfriends can get along. Chelsea tells Bo the news.

Brady admits to Daniel that Victor is displeased with Philip's handling of Titan. Philip has met Tony on the pier and offered to buy the formula back. Tony turns him down but urges him to make a clean break with Victor in order to get out from under his father's shadow. Philip receives word from Brady that Victor wants to see him.

Victor fires Philip. Philip tries to convince him to give him his job back but is unsuccessful. Stephanie finds Philip packing up his office and urges him to move on. Philip says he can't. Brady and Kate confront Victor about his firing of Philip. Brady worries Philip will do something desperate.

EJ and Stefano are shocked to learn Tony is leaving the family for good. Tony nearly tells EJ Nicole's devastating secret but is interrupted by a business text. Tony goes to the pier and learns Philip sent the text. Philip demands that Tony give him the blueprints back. Nicole shows up to confront Tony but hides as Philip and Tony struggle.

EJ thinks Tony's departure has something to do with Nicole. Stefano vows to make Tony pay. Meanwhile, Nicole watches Tony and Philip fight. Tony slips and falls on a sharp piece of wood. Nicole comes out of hiding and reluctantly calls 911 at Philip's urging. Nicole calls EJ and tells him Tony is on his way to the hospital. She doesn't respond to Philip when he reminds her Tony's fall was an accident. At the hospital, Daniel tells them that Tony's chances of survival are not good. Philip tells Bo that Nicole witnessed Tony's fall and can attest it was an accident. Meanwhile, Nicole slips into Tony's room and the two lock eyes.

Bo sees exactly who Hope is in bed with (in his vision) – it's Roman! Bo won't tell Hope what's wrong so she goes home to get ready for their date. Bo sees Hope and Roman talking at the Pub and cancels his date with Hope. Bo lies to Hope about his visions of her in bed with Roman. Hope remains concerned.

February 2009

Nicole is stunned to learn EJ is back in town. She orders Baker to get Sami out of the clinic, just as Sami realizes she needs to get her baby back to safety immediately. When Baker goes to find Sami, she's already gone. Baker warns Nicole that the baby looks a lot like Sami. Upset EJ arrives for Nicole. Meanwhile, Sami returns to the convent where Rafe tries to warn her about the killer but collapses at her feet.

EJ meets his new daughter. At first, he thinks the baby looks like Nicole, but then says, no – it looks like someone else. Nicole panics, but EJ says the baby looks like him! Nicole tells EJ about the baby's breathing problems and he insists both mother/daughter get checked out. Nicole will allow the baby, but not herself. Meanwhile, Sister Theresa and another nun tend to Rafe. Rafe learns the killer is dead. Sami can go home, but she's not ready.

Nicole and EJ bring home their baby. Mia calls Nicole to check on the baby and Nicole warns her never to call again. Mia tells her not to worry; she'll be on a plane to Japan tomorrow. Meanwhile, Sami persuades Rafe to let her stay at the convent a little longer. She's reluctant to leave her baby and nervous about returning to her old life in Salem. Nicole names her baby Sydney, while Sami names hers Grace.

Mia calls Nicole again to learn the baby's name. Stefano returns from a business trip and meets his granddaughter. He learns of the complications during her birth and threatens to investigate the hospital. EJ and Stefano learn Sami will be coming home soon. EJ insists Sami won't get in the way of his happiness with Nicole. Meanwhile, Chloe visits Nicole and tells her about her dilemma with Daniel. Nicole urges Chloe to figure out what she wants. Nicole tells Chloe she's done a lot to make her own dreams come true. Chloe asks what she means by that. Nicole backtracks and gets Chloe to promise never to tell anyone that she knew about Sami's pregnancy. Chloe leaves and Brady arrives. Nicole lies about the baby's birth mother but Brady warns her that her troubles are not over if she continues to deceive EJ. The two get into it as EJ arrives and demands to know what's going on. He asks Nicole to leave and confronts Brady alone. Suddenly, Nicole screams – there's something wrong with the baby!

Kayla realizes the stabbing victim (the killer) looks familiar and he attacks her. Daniel saves her and then they save the killer's life. Kayla realizes who he is and calls Hope. As Hope arrives, the killer takes Kayla hostage and Hope draws her gun. Bo freaks out that Hope is now with Kayla.

Bo and Steve connect and realize Hope and Kayla are on a collision course at the hospital. Hope, in a last attempt to shoot the killer, accidentally shoots Kayla instead! Bo shoots and kills the killer. Lexie rushes Kayla into surgery. Hope realizes Bo knew she was going to shoot Kayla because of his vision.

Kayla's surgery is touch-and-go but she pulls through. Hope is still furious with Bo for not telling her the person she was going to shoot was Kayla, and the tension between them builds. Chelsea tries to get Hope to tell her what's wrong, and to forgive herself. Later, Bo tells Hope she's being investigated by Internal Affairs.

Stephanie and Philip admit at the Cheatin' Heart that they're falling in love with each other and they go back to his place to make love. Afterward, Stephanie gets a call from Steve about Kayla being shot.

Melanie fantasizes about having sex with Philip on the desk. She goes to the hospital with Max and overhears Stephanie and Philip talking about making love. Melanie is determined to undo the damage.

Melanie tells Phil she's leaving Titan and calls EJ right in front of him. She tells EJ she's decided to take her project to the DiMeras. In a hostile moment, Melanie tells Philip he won't mess with her ever again. Later, Victor tells Philip that Melanie is a liability that must be dealt with. Stephanie overhears Philip vow to keep the project and crush Melanie and she is disturbed.

Maggie confronts Chloe, who tries to explain her affair. Lucas arrives, but Maggie tells him nothing. She warns Chloe to end her affair with Daniel – immediately. Later, Maggie confronts Daniel and tells him to break it off with Chloe. Daniel tells Maggie he can't promise that. Maggie later approaches Lucas with the intention of telling him about the affair, but ultimately does not. Kate worries to Daniel that Sami may return and threaten Lucas's future with Chloe. Chloe goes to Daniel and they make love. Daniel insists he will not give her up, but they have to be more careful. Chloe remains ridden with guilt.

Sami wakes up and learns Rafe is out at a meeting with his boss. She feels strangely lost without him. Rafe returns and tells Sister Theresa his job is on the line but assures Sami that everything is okay. Meanwhile, Nicole discovers Sydney is not breathing and rushes the baby to the hospital. Brady comforts Nicole and EJ questions Brady's true motives with Nicole. Brady lies and leaves and Nicole tells EJ he needs to know everything. She is about to reveal the truth when she learns that Sydney has a minor medical condition and will make a complete recovery. The family returns from the hospital. EJ leaves to meet up with Melanie. Dr. Baker shows up looking for Nicole.

Stefano advises EJ to keep a closer eye on Nicole. EJ is shocked to find out Nicole has left Sydney with the house-keeper and gone out. Dr. Baker asks Nicole for more money. Desperate Nicole goes to Brady and convinces him to betray Victor and get her cash. Brady breaks into the safe at the Kiriakis mansion. Victor catches them. Brady lies and says he is paying back a debt to Nicole. Later, Brady calls Nicole and says they have to talk about what happened. Dr. Baker stops by the mansion looking for Nicole and crosses paths with EJ. EJ tells Baker he wants him to stay away from Nicole and Baker agrees. EJ confronts Nicole about leaving the baby but she covers, saying she bought an apnea monitor. Baker returns asking for the money and Nicole gives it to him.

EJ sets his wedding date without consulting Nicole and gives her 10K for a deposit on a wedding dress. Nicole uses the money to pay Brady back. She admits to Brady she's done some illegal things but can't involve him anymore. Brady tracks down Baker and threatens him not to bother Nicole again. Nicole is feeling secure until she gets a panicked call from Mia in Japan, wondering how her baby is doing. Meanwhile, Sami realizes she could destroy Nicole with one phone call to EJ. Rafe advises against this.

Stephanie confronts Philip about his conversation with Victor about burying Melanie to keep her fuels project at Titan. Philip warns Stephanie that he's not the "hero" of her fantasies – she needs to accept him as he is. Stephanie's not sure she can do that. Meanwhile, Melanie tells Max about her plans to pit EJ against Philip and to ultimately marry Philip.

Philip stalls Melanie until she can be served the injunction preventing her from take the fuel project plans elsewhere. Meanwhile, Stephanie gets some love life advice from Kayla and later runs into Philip at Chez Rouge. Stephanie disregards Kayla's advice and continues her relationship with Philip. They enjoy a romantic evening at Chez Rouge, until Stephanie overhears him talking callously about bringing down Melanie and realizes she must bid him farewell.

Melanie meets with EJ and asks if there's any chance he could "eliminate" Philip. EJ suggests to Melanie (without actually saying it) that she should steal the fuel project plans from Titan. Melanie hacks into Philip's computer and finds the blueprints to the fuels project. Philip catches her and fires her on the spot. Melanie shares what happened with Max and learns Nick has sent him another copy of the plans.

Max won't give Melanie the plans, but she catches a look at them and then goes over to EJ's, where she copies down a portion of the plans using her photographic memory. EJ gives her a small cash advance but wants his team to look over the plans and ensure they're legit. Melanie runs into Philip and is sweet as pie, intentionally twigging him. Philip breaks the news to Brady and Stephanie that he fired Melanie. Stephanie tells Philip he's not the man she thought he was. Philip says maybe not, but he thinks she likes his "bad guy" side. They agree to start over.

Salem's rich and powerful attend a hospital fundraiser at Chez Rouge. Stefano hints that he'd like to date Kate. Chloe consents to a Valentine's Day wedding with Lucas; however she and Daniel can't keep their eyes off each other. Chloe sings a love song and is overcome by emotion. She races out. Lucas follows her and she tells him she can't marry him. She gives back her engagement ring, insisting that Lucas deserves better. Later, she shows up at Daniel's and pleads with him to leave town with her right away. He tells her he can't.

Lucas tells Kate that Chloe broke off their engagement. Chloe has a nice moment with Brady while Daniel has a nice moment with Kate as he comforts her about Lucas and Chloe.

Kayla forgives Hope for shooting her. Hope admits she's upset with Bo for withholding his vision and reveals Steve knew about the vision, too. Kayla is furious with Steve, but they are able to reaffirm their love. Bo confides in Abe about his visions. Abe suggests Bo treat Hope like an equal, but she returns and tells him she's moving in with Doug and Julie so she'll have time to think.

Philip interrupts Melanie and EJ's meeting on the pier and confronts them. Once EJ leaves, Philip grabs Melanie. He knows she's given something to EJ re: the fuel project, but can't prove it. Melanie says she'll keep the project with Titan if Philip dumps Stephanie. Philip refuses and promises Melanie that he'll destroy her if she tries to double cross him.

Chelsea blurts out to Max that she wants more than friendship with him. They kiss. Melanie sees and congratulates them.

Stephanie confides in Steve and Kayla and realizes that maybe she and Philip are not meant to be. Philip tries to make amends with Stephanie, but she tells him she can't do this and leaves.

EJ puts Melanie on notice that he's the boss when it comes to the fuel project. Meanwhile, Victor pits Brady against Philip. Philip insists he does not need Brady's help with the fuel project. He later misreads a conversation between Brady and EJ and thinks Brady is going behind his back. Philip shows up at the DiMera mansion to confront EJ. They square off over the fuel project. Tony intercedes, but EJ tells Philip he's already won because Philip made things personal with Melanie.

Chelsea tells Stephanie about Max kissing her, and Stephanie is surprised but okay with the news. Chelsea urges Stephanie not to give up on Philip. Stephanie decides to go confront Melanie. Philip shows up at Melanie's and pulls her into a kiss. Stephanie enters and is stunned by what she sees. She confronts them, and Philip insists he is in love with Melanie. Crushed, Stephanie leaves and confides in Chelsea. Philip returns to seducing Melanie, but she's on to him – she's knows he's playing her and she kicks him out. Stephanie returns to Melanie's and slaps her in the face!

Daniel tells Chloe that if Kate's test results show she's in remission, they can leave town. Chloe runs into Lucas and Allie and realizes she still loves Lucas, too. As she's sobbing on a park bench, a priest, Father Matt, approaches her. Chloe admits to Matt that she's torn between two men. Meanwhile, Kate confides in Victor that she wants to rekindle things with Daniel. Maggie lays into Daniel, saying he needs to tell Kate about his affair with Chloe. Daniel approaches Kate and she thinks his grim expression means her test results show bad news. Lucas goes to the Brady Pub and orders a drink. Melanie sees him, not knowing he's a recovering alcoholic, and casually mentions it to Maggie.

Chloe confides in Father Matt about her love for Lucas and Daniel. Matt suggests Chloe ask God for a sign. Meanwhile, Kate learns she's in remission and Dan realizes he can't tell her about the affair until he talks to Chloe. He dials his phone. Maggie tracks down Lucas, who is now drunk, and knocks a glass out of his hand. Maggie tells him Chloe had an affair with Daniel. Lucas also dials his phone. Chloe gets a call and thinks she has her sign from God. Chloe answers to Daniel, who tells her to meet at his apartment. The fire alarm goes off there. The super fixes it, but accidentally loosens a gas valve. Daniel tells Chloe that Kate is in remission. Chloe tells Daniel about her meeting with the priest and the sign that she belongs with Daniel. Daniel leaves for the hospital. Meanwhile, Lucas shows up at Daniel's to confront him. Chloe is about to open Daniel's door when there's a huge explosion!

Nicole makes it clear to Mia that she can never call her again. Mia thinks maybe she should reconsider giving up her child. Brady shows up at the DiMera mansion and asks Nicole what really went down between her and Dr. Baker. Nicole covers. Nicole calls Baker who insists Brady must be in love with her. Flustered, Nicole asks EJ to make love to her, but he points out that she just gave birth.Nicole covers and says there are other ways to be intimate besides sex. She overhears EJ on the phone with Roman and learns Sami is coming home. EJ reassures Nicole, but she later has a nightmare where EJ takes Sydney and informs Nicole he's returning the baby to her real mother.

Nicole tells Brady that Dr. Baker thinks he's in love with her. Brady admits he loves her, but only as a friend. They vow that EJ will never know their secret, unaware that Philip has overheard them. Meanwhile, Stefano worries about Melanie and the fuel project. EJ assures Stefano that he's got Melanie on a tight leash, and once he's married to Nicole, she'll be on a tight leash, too. EJ breaks up Melanie and Stephanie's fight and we see a darker side of him as he warns Melanie he can either be her good friend or her worst enemy. Melanie gives EJ the rest of the fuel project formula. Brady sees EJ at Melanie's and realizes things have gone very bad with Titan and Melanie. Stephanie breaks up with Philip.

Hope's hearing takes place. Both Bo and Kayla try to defend Hope, but Hope is forced to give Bo her badge and gun. Kayla feels guilty and is worried about Bo and Hope's relationship. Meanwhile, Hope is still reeling from her suspension and the possibility of losing her job. Bo begs Hope for another chance, but she's still too angry with him for withholding his visions.

Theo acknowledges his daddy and mommy, and Abe and Lexie are touched. Abe thinks Theo is making progress.

Philip realizes Nicole and Brady are keeping something from EJ and uses this info to give her an ultimatum: get EJ to let go of the fuel project or he'll tell him. Nicole tries to convince EJ to give up the fuel project, claiming the Kiriakis family will come after her and Sydney to get their way.

Sami learns that she can finally go home. Rafe admits he will miss her, but he has to say goodbye. Meanwhile, EJ refuses to give up the fuel project and Nicole gets angry, claiming EJ is choosing work over her and Sydney. Nicole tells EJ she won't marry him, but then learns Sami is coming home and realizes all bets are off. She calls Philip and tells him she failed to convince EJ to change his mind. Philip threatens to reveal her secret unless she speaks with EJ again. He is about to tell EJ that Nicole and Brady are having an affair when he's called to the hospital. Meanwhile, Nicole runs out the door to meet with Philip and comes face to face with Sami, who has come to pick up Johnny. Nicole catches herself before she reveals her knowledge of Sami's pregnancy. EJ enters and quickly covers his happiness at seeing Sami. When Sydney cries, EJ gets her and asks Sami if she'd like to hold the baby. Nicole practically screams, "No!"

Sami has an emotional reaction when she finally meets Sydney and claims it's because she misses her own children. Sami reunites with Johnny and she and EJ share a few warm moments. Meanwhile, Rafe visits baby Grace at the convent. He warns Sister Theresa that she can't tell Sami he was there. Sami calls the convent to check in on Grace and Nicole overhears. Later, Nicole threatens to leave EJ because he still loves Sami. Sami goes to see Lucas and he asks where her baby is. She says that her baby was stillborn, but insists that EJ can never know about the pregnancy. She learns that Lucas fell off the wagon and she blames Chloe. Lucas blames Sami for his drinking because she kept Will from him. Suddenly, a teenage boy comes into the room – it's Will!

EJ is exasperated over Nicole's insecurity about Sami and finally rips up the fuel project formula to prove he is committed to her and Sydney. Nicole gives the shredded formula to Philip to end the black mail.

There has been an explosion outside Daniel's apartment and Lucas is dying. Chloe desperately tries to bring him back to life and is devastated when she realizes he is probably dead. She makes a pact with God to stay with Lucas if he survives and is shocked to see him standing in front of her. Daniel arrives and confirms Lucas is alive. Chloe realizes she must keep her promise. At the hospital, Chloe learns from Lucas that he does not remember being told about her affair with Daniel. Chloe tells Lucas she made a mistake when she left him. Lucas thinks she just feels guilty that he fell off the wagon. He can't promise Chloe that they'll get back together. Chloe later fulfills her promise to God and tells Daniel that they are over – for good.

Lucas fills Kate in on his break-up with Chloe, which led to his drinking. Kate tells him not to walk away from love. Lucas tells Philip he's decided to get back together with Chloe. Meanwhile, Chloe tells Daniel about her pact with God. Daniel is disbelieving and threatens to tell Lucas about their affair. Chloe says she still can't be with him. Chloe and Daniel share a farewell kiss, unaware that Kate has seen them. Daniel goes to the chapel to pray and says to God, "You win." Meanwhile, Kate rushes back to the hospital to tell Lucas about Chloe and Daniel. She tells Lucas that it's a mistake to get back together with Chloe, but before she can mention the affair, his blood pressure spikes. Kate decides not to tell him and agrees not to meddle in his life. Kate runs into Chloe and tells her they have to talk.

Kate fishes for answers from Chloe but does not reveal that she knows about the affair. She asks why Chloe was at Daniel's and Chloe lies, saying she was in the neighborhood when she saw Lucas enter the building. Chloe asks for Kate's support in her efforts to get back together with Lucas. Kate lies and agrees. Kate later runs into Victor and tells him Chloe is not the girl she thought she was. She wants revenge and wants Victor's help.

Philip runs into Stephanie at the hospital and apologizes for all the pain he's caused her. He asks Stephanie to give him another chance. Stephanie says she loves Philip but is not ready to go back to him. Philip returns home and Victor immediately pounces on him about the fuel project. Philip assures Victor that he has everything under control. He tells Victor about how he's sacrificed his personal life (Stephanie) for work. Philip calls Stephanie and tells her they aren't over yet.

Victor hears the message Philip leaves for Stephanie and advises him to make her want him more than he wants her. Philip runs into Stephanie at the Pub and plays hard to get. He tells Stephanie that he knows exactly who he is, but she isn't the good girl she thinks she is. He kisses her and tells her to call him when she's figured things out.

Hope surprises Bo by showing up at the station. She tells him she misses him and wants to come home – on one condition. Bo has to tell her about his visions. Bo agrees and hugs Hope, just as he has a flash of her making love to an unknown man.

January 2009

Sami tends to sick Rafe, whose gunshot wound has become infected. EJ confronts Nicole about the car breakdown but she covers. Some papers fall out of EJ's briefcase and Nicole discovers a pre-nup. She confronts EJ, who explains that Stefano put it there.

Nicole manages to get Dr. Baker to give her the name and address of the girl who wanted to give up her baby. Nicole tracks down the girl, Mia, and pleads with her to reconsider. Mia finally agrees, but only if she can meet Nicole's future husband.

Brady overhears EJ conducting some DiMera business and confronts him out of concern for Nicole. Meanwhile, Nicole agrees to let Mia meet her fiancé and calls Brady, asking him to come meet her. Brady arrives and Nicole asks him to pretend to be her fiancé. Brady refuses. Mia walks in on them and asks if Brady is Nicole's fiancé. Brady refuses to lie. Mia tells Nicole to forget about ever adopting her baby. Nicole takes out her anger on Brady, who urges her again to come clean with EJ. Nicole refuses and Brady leaves, fed up. Nicole breaks down and Mia sees her. She realizes Nicole genuinely wants the baby. Mia agrees to reconsider as long as she can meet Nicole's fiancé. Nicole assures her it won't be a problem.

Rafe is delirious with fever and Sami attempts to use the opportunity to make a call to the convent, but he wakes up. Hilda comes by with a present and catches Sami with Rafe's phone. Hilda warns that an impulsive slip could cost Sami and Rafe their lives. Later, Rafe comes out of the shower and passes out. Sami slips out of the loft. Meanwhile, Hilda comes face-to-face with the killer.

Kate tells Daniel that she wants to take a break; she needs to concentrate on her health and her family right now.

EJ congratulates Lucas and Chloe on their engagement and informs them of his. Alone, EJ tells Lucas about his conversation with Sami. He told her he has moved on with Nicole. This upsets Lucas, who tells EJ he doesn't care because he's happy and in love with Chloe. Chloe and Lucas return home to learn Kate has planned their engagement party. Chloe assures Lucas she is sure she still wants to get married, but we see she's still thinking about Daniel.

Chloe and Lucas get ready for the engagement party in one of the Kirakis bedrooms. Chloe is surprised by a gift from Kate – a party dress. Downstairs, Lucas misinterprets Kate's declaration that she and Daniel are no longer together and he punches Daniel. Lucas is set straight and he apologizes. Daniel goes upstairs and finds Chloe. He helps her zip into her dress but advises her not to go through with the party. He presses her to admit her feelings for him. She finally gives in and they kiss. Lucas comes looking for Chloe and is about to walk in on them.

Bo warns Philip not to hurt Stephanie. Meanwhile, Stephanie calls Melanie on her intentions to snare Philip. Later, things heat up between Stephanie and Philip, but he puts on the brakes. An angry Stephanie slaps Philip. They argue but quickly make up and it looks like they are going to make love, but they both realize that it will mean more if they wait. Later, Kate gives Philip and Stephanie her blessing re: their relationship.Melanie has learned that Nick's sentencing date has been set and we see she's forming a new plan.

Max and Chelsea run into each other at Chez Rouge and try to feel each other out as to where they stand with their relationship. Max offers himself up as a date to the engagement party but Chelsea doesn't think he's serious and shows up at the party alone, where she is shocked to learn Kate ended her relationship with Daniel.

John tells Charlotte he's decided to go through with the hypnosis. Marlena overhears and has mixed feelings; she's hopeful the treatment will work but is afraid John is motivated only by the need to spend more time with Charlotte. She shares her concerns with Brady. She is having second thoughts about Charlotte. Maggie encourages Marlena to do some research on the doctor to ensure she is qualified to treat John. Meanwhile, John undergoes hypnosis and remembers seeing Marlena on the pier many years ago!

Lexie brings Theo to see Stefano. Stefano implies that Theo will "grow out of" his condition and Lexie blows up. While they argue, Theo wanders off and climbs the stairs. Bo flashes to the event as Theo slips and falls! He is rushed to the hospital. Lexie regrets visiting Stefano and rebuffs his attempts to comfort her. Tony comforts Lexie and tries to track down Abe. Daniel informs Lexie that Theo will need surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. Meanwhile, Bo is deeply disturbed by his visions and doesn't know what's happening to him. Lexie gives Daniel permission to move forward with the surgery just as Abe arrives. Lexie breaks down, blaming Stefano for what's happening. Daniel returns saying the surgery appears to have been a success. Lexie and Abe have an emotional moment at Theo's bedside while Stefano looks on, unseen. Meanwhile, Bo and Hope discuss his visions. Hope thinks Bo should have Kayla check him out.

EJ and Nicole have a nasty run-in with Victor at Lucas and Chloe's engagement party. Nicole sees that Chloe is upset and confronts her. Later, Daniel asks Nicole if everything is working out with her new doctor. Nicole gets a call from Mia. EJ overhears and Nicole covers, saying Mia found her bracelet. Mia agrees to meet with Nicole the next day, but only if she brings her fiancé.

Nicole goes to see Mia alone and tells her she's never going to meet her fiancé. Nicole comes clean about losing her baby and Mia realizes Nicole's fiancé still believes she's pregnant. Mia freaks out and orders Nicole to leave, but she refuses to go and makes a dramatic plea for Mia to reconsider. The two women bond and Nicole finally persuades Mia that she doesn't need to meet EJ. Mia convinces Nicole to at least let her see the house where her child will be raised. Nicole takes Mia to the DiMera mansion. Mia is highly impressed and is ready to make a commitment to give Nicole her baby when Tony comes home and wonders what's going on.

Nicole does not give Tony Mia's name and claims she volunteers at a youth center where she bonded with Mia. At the clinic, an ultrasound reveals that Mia is having a girl. Dr. Baker says Mia isn't due for another week. Meanwhile, Tony tells EJ about his encounter with Nicole and Mia. Alone with Nicole, EJ demands to know why he had to find this out from Tony. Alone, Mia doubles over in pain – is she in labor?

Lucas nearly walks in on Daniel and Chloe. Chloe covers but warns Daniel that nothing more will happen between them. Downstairs, Daniel announces that he is at the party because of Chloe. Instead of revealing their connection, he toasts Chloe and Lucas. Kate hugs Chloe, welcoming her to the family. When she is alone with Lucas, Chloe wonders if their love can really last. Lucas assures her it can.

Stephanie is shocked to see Max at the engagement party and learns Chelsea invited him there. Chelsea assures Stephanie that she asked Max to be there as a friend, but then asks if Stephanie would have a problem if Chelsea and Max were more than friends. Stephanie says she would. Chelsea warns Stephanie that she can't have her cake and eat it, too.

Kate visits Stefano, who reminds her that his marriage proposal is still on the table. Chloe goes to see Daniel to tell him nothing happened between them the previous and they end up making love. Kate almost catches them. Once Kate leaves, Chloe freaks and rushes out.

Stephanie teases Philip about sexually harassing her at the office and he gets serious. He realizes he has to reassign Stephanie to another supervisor. Meanwhile, Lucas and Kate think Max and Chelsea are more than friends. A waitress at the Brady Pub also comments on them being a "cute couple." Max and Chelsea awkwardly insist to each other that they're just friends.

Max learns from Maggie that today is Nick's sentence hearing. Melanie has asked Philip for the time off without revealing the reason. Stephanie finds out from Max and they go to the hearing. Philip also shows up, unseen. Melanie makes a genuine statement in which she forgives Nick and because of this, his sentence is reduced to 2-5 years in prison. Nick later asks Melanie if she did this for Philip. Melanie admits she might have ulterior motives.

EJ and Stefano plot to take control of the Alternative Fuels Project from the Kiriakis family. Once he has a plan, EJ approaches Melanie and questions her about the project. Melanie realizes he's interested in buying it from her, but refuses to sell due to her efforts to win over Philip. After EJ leaves, Melanie asks Maggie about him. Maggie says that she and Mickey like EJ, but never forget he's a DiMera.

Marlena researches Charlotte and finds nothing but positive info on her. Meanwhile, John finishes his hypnotherapy session. He's had another memory of Marlena but remembers nothing when he "wakes up." Charlotte refuses to reveal what John said. John gets angry and leaves. Marlena urges John to give Charlotte another chance. Later, Marlena gets a call from a former colleague of Charlotte, who reveals that she left her last job abruptly, under a cloud of suspicion. Meanwhile, Charlotte watches the tape of John's session and we get the idea she has an ulterior motive.

John admits to Brady that he wants his memories back. Marlena almost catches Charlotte as she's viewing John's hypnosis tapes. Marlena confronts Charlotte about leaving her last job. Charlotte insists it was because she had to take care of her dying father. We realize that Charlotte might be jealous of Marlena and that she perhaps does not want to help John recover his memories. Charlotte tells John that hypnosis won't work for him and he may never get his memories back.

John is distraught and decides to ask Marlena for a second opinion. She reacts when he calls her "Doc," though he insists the hypnosis was ineffective. Marlena kisses John and he is affected, but still has no memories of their life together. Marlena confides to Brady that she is suspicious of Charlotte. Brady finds a way into Charlotte's office, where he finds the video of John's hypnosis session. Meanwhile, Charlotte proposes to John that he start a new life, with her help.

John refuses to leave town without Marlena. Brady is still watching the John's tape when Charlotte starts to enter her office. Before she spots him, Marlena enters to talk with her. Charlotte becomes angry when Marlena questions her treatment of John. Kayla interrupts the confrontation and insists they all go to her office. When they leave, Brady escapes. Kayla recommends to John that he fire Charlotte. Meanwhile, Charlotte realizes someone broke into her office and saw John's session. Brady tells Marlena he e-mailed John's hypnotherapy session and shows her some of the session in which John remembered her!

Sami sneaks to the convent where Sister Theresa reassures her that they'll help her. The nun gives Sami a cell phone. Sami returns to Rafe. Meanwhile, Hilda is captured by the killer and, when she won't reveal Sami's whereabouts, she is killed!

Rafe and Sami learn Hilda was murdered. Sami lets it slip she saw Hilda and Rafe demands to know if Sami's done anything else to compromise her safety. Sami admits she went back to the convent. Rafe learns the safe house has been compromised and rushes Sami to the convent. The killer arrives at the empty safe house. Meanwhile, Nicole convinces EJ that she does charity work at the local teen center and that she plans on traveling and speaking at other centers. Later, EJ catches Nicole descending the stairs with an overnight bag. He tells her he doesn't want her to go on a speaking engagement until after the baby's born. Nicole and EJ argue. She refuses to be his prisoner. EJ explains he wants to be present at the baby's birth. Nicole calls Dr. Baker, who warns her that if the time is not right with Mia, this whole scam will blow up in her face. Meanwhile, Rafe has left a helpless Sami at the convent and gone after the killer. Sami calls Lucas, while Rafe comes face-to-face with the killer.

Chloe gets an audition in Vancouver and wants to use it as a getaway for her and Lucas. Chloe runs into Daniel and tells him her plans. He doesn't want her to go, but she runs off. Lucas receives a fraught call from Sami. When Chloe returns, Lucas tells her he cannot go to Vancouver. He reveals Sami is at the Convent of the Holy Cross. Chloe is livid and runs out on Lucas. Meanwhile, Chloe ends up at Nicole's where she slips and reveals Sami is pregnant.

Daniel goes to see Lucas with the intention of telling him about his and Chloe's affair. He sees how much Chloe means to Allie and Lucas and decides not to say anything. Later, Chloe arrives at Daniel's and tells him she loves Lucas. Daniel tells her he loves her but he won't destroy her life. However, they give into temptation and share a searing kiss.

Daniel and Chloe fight their desire unsuccessfully and end up making love. Chloe tells Daniel she loves him. Meanwhile, Kate and Lucas wonder where Chloe is. Kate decides to visit Daniel. She arrives at his door but decides it's unfair to drop in unexpectedly and leaves. Chloe opens the door just in time to see her walk away.

Nicole decides to pay Sami a visit. Meanwhile, while Rafe faces off with the killer, Sami asks Sister Theresa to help her hide her baby. Sister Theresa asks Sami to make sure it's really what she wants to do.

Marlena and Brady watch the video of John's hypnosis session and conclude that Charlotte lied. Meanwhile, Kayla explains to John that she thinks he should fire Charlotte. John confronts Charlotte, and she laughs away Kayla's concern. John still decides not to continue therapy. Charlotte learns the video was emailed to Marlena and goes to confront her.

Brady informs John that Charlotte is withholding info about his memories and shows him the proof. John calls Marlena, just as Charlotte pulls out a syringe filled with a toxin and blames her for taking her father away from her. John rushes over and stops Charlotte, but she accidentally stabs him with the syringe and he collapses. Bo and Hope arrive and arrest Charlotte as Marlena gives John CPR. Miraculously, he comes to. He's rushed to the hospital where we learn he's had a major stroke. Marlena keeps vigil by John's bedside and tells him all about their life, love and family. Finally, John comes back – and remembers everything!

Stefano tells EJ he's leaving for Italy to save the family fortune. Stefano gets the news that John is in the hospital and EJ tells his father he cannot leave town – EJ will go in his place. Meanwhile, Nicole sees Sami at the convent and all of her anger and hurt come out. Nicole has a fantasy about attacking Sami. She overhears Sami thanking the sister for agreeing to take her baby after it's born. Nicole comes up with a new plan and meets with Sister Theresa in private. She says she's pregnant but trying to hide the baby from her family. She gives the sister the business card of the clinic where she "plans to deliver her baby." Sami knocks on the door, asking to see Sister Theresa and Nicole is trapped!

John recovers his memories but is paralyzed from the neck down. Marlena is determined that he will recover and decides to go with John to Belgium for treatment. They say their heartfelt goodbyes to everyone. Even Stefano shows up to insist to Marlena he didn't have any part in John's current situation. Marlena tells Stefano he can't hurt them anymore. John and Marlena go off, reunited at last.

Sami enters Sister Theresa's office while Nicole hides. Nicole overhears Sami's plans to hide her baby from EJ. Nicole heads to the clinic, where she orders Dr. Baker to take any call he receives from a nun. Suddenly, Nicole gets a call from Mia, who is in labor. Sami plans on going to the safe house to check on Rafe. Sister Theresa stops her, and then Sami goes into labor. Meanwhile, the killer tortures Rafe, but he refuses to give up Sami's location. The killer nearly discovers Sami's pregnancy. Rafe covers and agrees to reveal Sami's location.

Sami is in labor and Sister Theresa takes her to Dr. Baker's clinic, where she's introduced as Colleen. Nicole rushes to Mia's place and realizes she cannot move her to the clinic – she'll have to deliver the baby herself! While Nicole delivers Mia's baby girl, Sami learns her baby is in distress. Meanwhile, Rafe tries to lead the killer on. Tired of the games, the killer shows Rafe a photo of Johnny and Allie and vows to kill them.

Sami has a difficult delivery. The baby is born, but Sami panics when she realizes it's not breathing. Nicole asks Mia if she'd like to hold her baby. Mia says no. She has doubts about giving up the baby but Nicole convinces her she's doing the right thing. Nicole privately wishes the baby was EJ's. Meanwhile, Rafe still refuses to talk but the killer realizes Sami is at the convent. Rafe frees himself and attacks the killer.

Nicole goes to the clinic with Mia's baby just as Dr. Baker rushes out of Sami's room with her baby girl, not telling her if she's alive or dead. Sami panics, demanding to know what's going on. Baker works to save the baby as Nicole looks on and the baby lets out a cry – she'll live. Nicole explains to Baker about Sami's true identity and her plans to abandon EJ's baby and tells him she wants to switch Sami's baby for Mia's.

Rafe lunges at the killer and they fight for his gun. The killer grabs a knife and stabs Rafe, who also manages to slash the killer. The killer escapes. Rafe collapses before he can follow. The killer makes it to the pier but collapses, too. Maggie finds the killer and gets him to the hospital. Kayla realizes he needs surgery and pages Daniel. Kayla examines the killer and realizes he looks familiar. Rafe reaches for his cell phone to warn Sami, but it's dead.

After Sister Theresa almost walks in on Nicole and Dr. Baker, Nicole reminds him that he's in too deep to say no to her plan. Nicole finally convinces Baker to switch the babies. She is thrilled, and unaware that EJ has returned early from his business trip. Baker gives Sami Mia's baby. Sami stares at the baby's face, enigmatic.

Daniel runs into Chloe and both are aware they need to keep their hands off of each other until it's safe to tell Kate and Lucas. When Daniel sees Chloe with Allie and Johnny, her realizes they can never be together. He calls Chloe and leaves a message saying he knows where her place is. Chloe, Lucas, Allie and Johnny have a fun food fight in the Pub. Caroline observes how happy everyone seems. Victor warns that Chloe and Lucas's relationship is doomed.

Chloe gets Daniel's message and leaves him a message that says they need to talk. Maggie overhears and thinks Chloe is having problems with Lucas. Chloe admits she's upset that Lucas still makes Sami his priority. Later, Kate runs into Chloe and expresses her concern that Daniel seems sad and alone. Chloe goes to Daniel to talk to him about this. She wants to talk about how they can move on without missing each other. He doesn't really believe that time will cure them of their passion. They end up making love. Daniel is paged by the hospital and has to leave. Chloe kisses him outside his apartment, but then realizes Maggie, who is at Steve and Kayla's returning something for Joe, has seen them.

Philip tries to tempt Stephanie with a fancy date, but she refuses to blow off her work. Later, Stephanie takes Philip to the Cheatin' Heart where they play pool. Stephanie beats him but lets him choose the prize. Philip buys out the bar for the night and offers to let Stephanie choose her prize as well: him.

Philip has a talk with Brady about Melanie and his concerns that she will take her fuel project to the DiMeras. Philip says he'll take care of her. Meanwhile, Melanie tries to pump Max for info on EJ and tells him her plans to start a bidding war between the DiMera/Kiriakis families. Melanie and Brady discuss their fathers and bond. Melanie tells Brady she'll do everything in her power to make the fuel project a success.

Bo, Hope, Steve and Kayla dine together at the Pub. Abe stresses to Bo that he needs to do a better job at finding the mayor's killer. Everyone celebrates Theo's return from the hospital. Lexie is more at peace with Theo's diagnosis. Meanwhile, Bo asks Steve to help him find the killer. Bo is unsettled when he has another vision – this time of Hope firing a gun. He confides in Steve, saying he foresees a death in the family. Bo tries to take Hope off the case, but she refuses and he's forced to tell her about his vision. Hope promises to be careful.

Steve may have a lead on the killer. He's hacked into Stefano's computer and found a corporation holding a large sum of money. Bo has a flash of Hope shooting Kayla. He confides in Steve, who agrees the two women must be separated. They stop Hope from meeting Kayla, Bo insisting he and Hope spend the night working on the investigation.

December 2008

Nicole visits Dr. Baker and learns she'll never conceive another child. She stops at a store for new clothes and leaves with fake pregnancy padding. EJ tries to get the truth out of Dr. Baker, who suggests he take the issue up with Nicole. Brady arrives at the DiMera mansion and is shocked to find Nicole still pretending to be pregnant. She begs him to keep her secret. EJ walks in on the fraught moment.

Brady tells EJ he just found out he's a DiMera and is upset. EJ later informs Nicole that he needs her permission to access her medical records so they're both going back to the clinic. She makes a mysterious call for help. They arrive at the clinic, where Dr. Baker asks Nicole if it's okay to tell EJ everything. Nicole, has no choice and agrees. She manages to get Dr. Baker alone and convinces him to lie about her baby. Meanwhile, Stefano calls EJ and tells him they have an urgent situation to deal with. He learns Nicole's baby could be in danger and calls his personal physician.

Sami learns Rafe did some digging on EJ and understands why she's afraid to raise her baby as a DiMera. Later, Rafe finds the medal from the convent. Sami begs him to take her back to the convent and he reluctantly agrees. Sami learns about Rafe's past and how the convent of the Holy Cross helped him.

Rafe won't allow Sami to see Sister Theresa alone. A homeless man arrives and Rafe freaks; he takes Sami back to the loft and tells her they cannot go out again. Sami has secretly taken a pamphlet with Sister Theresa's phone number and is determined to make contact again… alone.

Sami softens to Rafe when he arranges for Hilda to bring a Christmas tree. Sami and Hilda bond over new pictures of Sami's kids. Meanwhile, Rafe heads to the DiMera mansion looking for info about the mayor's killer.

Stefano tells Nicole he has an obstetrician coming to Salem to be her new doctor. Nicole convinces EJ this is a bad idea. She runs upstairs to adjust her "belly" and finds Rafe in her bedroom. Rafe nearly discovers Nicole's secret but she covers. Rafe realizes something is amiss and reports to Sami, who is only puzzled by his news.

Kate learns her cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and bone marrow and she'll need a marrow transplant. Thrilled Chloe has just accepted Lucas' marriage proposal when they learn about Kate's relapse. They go to the hospital and Chloe slips off her ring, concerned about Kate's reaction. Daniel sees and agrees to keep her secret.

Kate's family members have been tested as bone marrow donors. Later, Daniel tells everyone they have a match – it's Chloe!

Lucas tells Kate about his proposal. Daniel reveals he's found a way for Chloe to be Kate's donor but Kate refuses when she learns it could harm Chloe. Chloe insists and Kate thanks her and gives her blessing to Lucas for his marriage.

Melanie receives a visit from her new boss, Philip. She promises to deliver on her many new tasks. Stephanie is shocked at first to learn Philip hired Melanie, but he gets her to understand why he did it. Stephanie is impressed and gives Philip a sweet hug and a kiss. Meanwhile, Bo gives Max the box Trent left for him. Max later gives Melanie the box but she doesn't want it.

Stephanie tells Philip she's worried about Kate and gives him a supportive hug. Melanie sees and approaches Philip. She offers to be tested as a donor and tries to hug Philip, but he doesn't give her the same warm response. Maggie notices Melanie's bad mood and she admits she's ready to get to work and prove to Philip that she's an asset to Titan.

Marlena tells Brady that John has agreed to one therapy session with her old mentor. John grows frustrated waiting for no-show Dr. Taylor. As he leaves, he runs into a woman who intros herself as Dr. Taylor… Charlotte Taylor. She explains her father died recently and she's taking over his practice. John warms to her when she indicates there may be nothing wrong with him. Marlena arrives and is shocked that Dr. Taylor has convinced John to try therapy.

At the pub, Steve and Kayla discuss the difficulties of juggling their family life and work. They leave, intent on having a romantic night. They try to make love but keep getting interrupted by Joe's cries and then a call from Stephanie. They spend some time with Stephanie, who stresses her concern for Philip. Steve and Kayla realize Stephanie is developing feelings for Philip.

Stefano counsels EJ to make things official with Nicole and guesses that Sami is the only thing standing in his way. EJ asks Roman for one phone call with Sami. Meanwhile, Sami and Rafe trim the Christmas tree and bond. The phone rings and Sami is stunned when Roman puts EJ on the line. EJ tells Sami goodbye. Sami later explains to Rafe that she's worried that EJ is moving on with Nicole. Their special bond won't protect her if EJ finds out she's lying about her pregnancy. Rafe tells Sami he's got her back. Meanwhile, we see the killer has identified Rafe.

Sami convinces Rafe to go Christmas shopping for her while Hilda stays with her. Sami manages to sneak a call to Sister Theresa. The killer spots Rafe while he's out shopping and stabs him!

EJ and Stefano meet with the Argentineans and are nearly killed, but Stefano is prepared. Stefano's thugs rescue them and turn the tables on the Argentineans. They return to the mansion and realize someone has been there, uninvited. Meanwhile, Nicole researches adoption on the computer at the Cheatin' Heart and Brady catches her. He realizes that she wants to adopt a baby and hide her miscarriage forever. He threatens to tell EJ the truth. Lucas and Chloe enter and Nicole learns Chloe is engaged. She insists they celebrate. Nicole gets a terrible idea and buys some cocaine from the bartender, Brick. She drugs Brady's drink. Thankfully, her conscience intervenes and she knocks the drink from his hand. She manages to convince Brady not to tell EJ about the baby. EJ tells Nicole about his conversation with Sami and then tells her that he loves her. Nicole calls Brady and begs him to help her find a baby.

Nicole finds an ad online for a woman, Kelly, who's looking for a home for her unborn child. Nicole convinces Brady to go with her to the meeting. After the meeting, Brady follows Kelly and finds her drinking and smoking at the Cheatin' Heart. He accuses her of being a scam artist. Nicole hears this.

Tony confronts Stefano about not knowing about the deal with the Argentineans. He learns that Stefano is grooming EJ to take over the family. Tony goes to warn EJ against trusting Stefano and reveals that Lexie feels responsible for the Mayor's death. EJ confronts Lexie.

Chloe goes to the hospital for another pre-operation test. Daniel examines her and they have an "electric" moment. Chloe and Daniel are turned on but they cover. Daniel, feeling guilty, goes to see Kate. Chloe treats Dan icily after their encounter. He tells her she needs to get her emotions (and blood pressure) under control or they'll have to call off the procedure. Chloe assures Kate that her concerns have nothing to do with Kate or the transplant and she's wheeled off to surgery.

Chelsea counsels Max not to throw away the box from Trent. They go back to Max's room and he opens the box. He finds a stuffed toy dog inside and a note from Trent saying, "I'm sorry." Max is moved and Chelsea embraces him.

Melanie has a trying first day at Titan as Stephanie gives her a ton of work. Melanie "accidentally" locks Stephanie in the document safe, only to later discover Philip was in there, too. Philip and Stephanie talk and wind up almost kissing. The safe door springs open and Melanie gets an eyeful.

Melanie tells Max about seeing Philip and Stephanie almost kissing. Max accuses her of being jealous. Max tells Melanie that Nick is asking why she's not answering his letters. Melanie tells Max she's going to see Nick in prison. Meanwhile, Philip asks Stephanie out but she says there's something she needs to do first.

Marlena is shocked to learn that she's now sharing her waiting area and receptionist with Dr. Taylor. John arrives for his session and Marlena reacts to the sound of laughter coming from Dr. Taylor's office. Afterward, John will give Marlena very little info about his therapy session. Marlena vents to Kayla, who thinks she is jealous. Marlena admits she'd do anything to get the old John back. John runs into Dr. Taylor at the park and professes his trust in her.

Bo and Hope discuss their hectic schedules while they hang Christmas decorations. Hope thinks one of them should quit their job. Bo falls off a ladder and hits his head.

Rafe's attacker is scared off. Rafe manages to get back to the loft where he collapses. He won't let Sami call the police, realizing that someone inside the FBI alerted the killer to his identity. Sami is forced to stitch Rafe's wound. He gets drunk to numb the pain and ends up telling Sami she's an idiot for loving EJ when he doesn't love her back. Rafe wakes up to find Sami watching him. He apologizes for what he said when he was drunk and tries to put distance between them. He needs help getting up, though, and the two are put in close physical contact.

Rafe is concerned that he is no longer fit to guard Sami and asks if she wants a new guard. Sami begs Rafe to stay. Rafe is touched to see a present from "Santa" under the Christmas tree. Sami overhears Rafe calling his supervisor and offering to take Hilda's Christmas shift guarding Sami. At EOD, Sami slips and falls in the bathroom. Rafe calls Sami's doctor and surmises that she's okay. Later, Sami's tummy hurts and Rafe comforts her. Sami can't help but wish EJ could know his son. Rafe wonders if Sami is changing her mind, but she says no.

Nicole accuses Brady of lying to her about his claim that Kelly, the pregnant girl, is a scam artist. Brady recognized the photo of the baby's "father" from a rehab magazine. Kelly reveals she's not really pregnant. Nicole admits she was blinded by her desire to give EJ a baby. Brady urges her to tell EJ the truth. Nicole can only admit to EJ her fear of being an unfit mother. EJ tells her they're in this together. Nicole tells Brady she's going to get a baby, with or without his help.

EJ learns from Daniel that Nicole has changed doctors. Meanwhile, Nicole asks Dr. Baker to pretend to be her OB. Baker says he'll lie for $750K. Nicole balks. EJ arrives and demands to know what Nicole is doing. Nicole convinces EJ to let her see Dr. Baker as her OB. EJ tells her he set up a $1 million trust for her, but her hopes are dashed when she realizes she won't have access to all of the money right away. EJ tells Nicole he wants to sleep in the same bed as her and she panics. She denies his request to snuggle with her and he is put off. Later, she admits her hormones are out of control. They kiss and EJ feels her padding. He thinks she is just getting bigger and wants to celebrate. Nicole gets a visit from Dr. Baker, demanding his money.

Daniel and Chloe's awkwardness continues and they finally have it out. They make it clear that, while they were once friends, now they're just connected by Lucas and Kate. When Lucas brings Chloe her new perfectly-sized ring, she's still troubled. Meanwhile, Dan has an erotic dream about Chloe.

Maggie makes sure Chloe really wants to spend the rest of her life with Lucas. Chloe assures her this is the case. Kate has a special gift for Chloe and Lucas and asks Daniel to deliver it to the cabin. He goes and is stunned when teddy-clad Chloe answers the door.

While Philip recalls his near kiss with Stephanie, Max confronts her about her public display. Stephanie realizes that Melanie snitched. Meanwhile, Melanie visits Nick in prison. He gives her his share of the potential profits from his alternative fuels project. Melanie tells Philip and Stephanie that her position at Titan is about to change.

Melanie tells Philip and Stephanie that Nick has signed over his biofuels project to her. Stephanie accuses Melanie of being jealous of her and Philip. Melanie implies that she slept with Philip and he denies it. Philip tells Melanie that he doesn't want her or the project. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Theo find Max at the pier, debating whether to throw his toy dog into the water. They share a warm moment. Theo sees and wants the dog. Max gives it to him.

Philip fires Melanie. She takes her project directly to Victor, who accuses Philip of putting his personal concerns before business. Philip defends himself and quits! Philip and Stephanie share their first kiss in a darkened office.

Victor lays into Philip for acting emotionally over Nick's project. Stephanie encourages Philip to mend fences with Victor. Victor allows Philip to come back, but he demands to be in charge. Later, Melanie is not pleased to see Stephanie and Philip kissing under the mistletoe at the pub.

Bo is knocked unconscious from his fall off the ladder. Kayla diagnoses a mild concussion. Alone, Bo has a flash of the location of the fallen Christmas tree star. He reveals the location to Hope and she finds the star. Bo has another flash, hearing a child scream. Bo thinks Ciara is crying but later confesses to Abe it was in his head. Abe insists Bo see Daniel, who says there's nothing physically wrong with him. Bo flashes to an unknown child being wheeled into the hospital.

John is getting frustrated by the fact that he knows nothing about Dr. Taylor and he takes out his frustrations on Marlena. Marlena invites him to spend Christmas with her. John says he'll ask Dr. Taylor if she thinks that will be a good idea. John tells Dr. Taylor that Marlena seems a bit put off by their therapy sessions. Dr. Taylor proclaims that she wants to help John and Marlena get back together.

EJ accuses Lexie of putting his family in danger by going to Stefano about Mayor Marino. Lexie questions EJ's decision to keep pregnant Nicole under Stefano's roof. Their conflict grows as Abe and Theo walk in. Lexie breaks down when Theo doesn't answer EJ's question about what he wants for Christmas. Later, Theo points to a wrapped gift and says, "I want." Lexie is thrilled!

EJ is surprised to see Dr. Baker at the mansion. Nicole convinces Dr. Baker to speak with her in private. Baker tells her to have the money tomorrow, or the charade is over. Brady arrives after getting a panicked call from Nicole. She asks him for $1 million. Brady refuses and tells her to think outside the box. Nicole sees an expensive vase and tells Baker she'll give him a deposit. Meanwhile, Victor warns EJ against Nicole.

At the DiMera Christmas get together, Brady and Nicole argue. He realizes Nicole is not changing her mind about faking her pregnancy. Nicole vows to find a baby.

Nicole is awoken by a playful EJ and realizes she is not wearing her pregnancy padding. She snaps at him to leave her alone and immediately regrets it. She apologizes and spends a nice morning with him and Johnny. Meanwhile, Rafe tries to cheer Sami up with a Mexican Christmas (he makes tamales). Rafe received a meaningful gift from Sami (a penny from Grandpa Shawn) and arranges for Sami to have a webcam chat with Johnny and Allie. EJ pops on to say hello and Nicole is jealous. Nicole calls Dr. Baker and tells him to stop blackmailing her or she'll kill him.

Nicole has a fantasy about killing Dr. Baker and rushes out to talk to him. He refuses to help her. He leaves behind his cell phone and Nicole uses it to call a woman. Nicole is shocked when she meets the woman – Jill, a pregnant teenager. Meanwhile, EJ urges Roman to find the killer so Sami can come home. EJ admits he misses Sami. He calls Stefano to ask for a favor. At the loft, Rafe discovers the church bulletin and confronts Sami. She asks for Rafe's help in giving her baby to the nuns at the orphanage. Rafe refuses. Meanwhile, the killer traces Rafe's cell phone number to its location.

Daniel stares at teddy-clad Chloe and fantasizes about kissing her. Upset, Chloe slams the door on him and he hurts his finger. Chloe tries to help him bandage it and they have another moment of sexual attraction. Chloe covers with anger and Lucas walks in on this. Lucas and Chloe open the gift from Kate. It's a diamond necklace that Bill Horton gave Kate. Chloe and Lucas make love while she remembers her intense moments with Daniel.

The traditional ornament hanging is underway at the Horton's. Chloe calls Daniel to wish him a Merry Christmas. Maggie gives Chloe a new ornament, but she drops it and it breaks. Julie and Maggie assure her it's okay and Chloe sings Silent Night.

Daniel brings Kate from the hospital to be with her family at the Kiriakis brunch. Daniel and Chloe end up sitting next to each other. They agree they must get over this strangeness. Chloe wishes Daniel a Merry Christmas and gives him a sweet kiss on the cheek.

Max and Chelsea visit Kate in the hospital. Alone, Kate asks Chelsea what's going on between her and Max and warns her to be careful. Chelsea is guarded with Max and he calls her on it.

Philip tells Stephanie he has a Christmas surprise for her and jealous Melanie overhears. Stephanie invites Philip to join the Brady family for Christmas. Melanie goes to Max and guilts him into inviting her to the Brady Christmas, as well. Chelsea attempts to ease the tension between Stephanie and Max. Melanie later interrupts Stephanie and Chelsea, noting that Max has obviously moved on, too – with Chelsea. Chelsea denies this and Stephanie admits she would have a problem with that. Chelsea confronts Melanie about her comment and insists she and Max are just friends. Melanie thinks she protests too much. Chelsea confronts Max, wanting reassurance that they're just friends. Max assures her and confronts Melanie.

Victor offers Brady a job at Titan and he eventually agrees. Philip is blindsided and walks out on Victor. Brady walks out, too. Philip and Brady call a truce before their family's Christmas brunch gets underway. Brady and Philip confront Victor for hiring Brady behind Philip's back. Both threaten to quit but Victor fires them. They team up to explain why firing them is a bad idea. Victor tells them he played them both to prove they make a good team. Brady and Philip arrive at Titan. Melanie flirts with Brady, unaware that Philip is watching.

Bo tells Hope about his "flashes" and she attributes them to losing Zack around Christmastime. Hope hangs Zack's ornament on the tree and Chelsea arrives to see it. She reacts badly, but the three come together and put the past to rest.

John brings Marlena and Brady to Stefano's Christmas get together. Nicole takes John aside and asks him for money, which he refuses. Marlean convinces John to leave and they go to the Horton's, but it's too much for John. He calls Dr. Taylor, saying he needs to remember.

Lexie takes Theo to the pier to see the ships. Bo realizes his visions are about Theo just as the boy runs away from Lexie and gets lost! Lexie and Abe search for Theo. Bo has visions of a ghost from Christmas past (Zack) and is able to find Theo. Bo still can't shake the thought that something's going to happen to Theo.

Abe and Lexie are disheartened by Theo's lack of interest in his Christmas gifts, but she is touched when Theo presents her with a gift he made himself. Meanwhile, Doug is dressed up as Santa to read the Christmas story to sick children at the hospital. Stefano shows up with gifts for the kids and is told to leave. Lexie shows up and pleads with him to go and he sadly obliges her.

November 2008

Sami and Rafe are mutually horrified to learn he is her new guard and the animosity between them builds. Sami tries to give him the slip, but Rafe jumps out of the shower and grabs her.

EJ attempts to get the truth out of Nicole but we're left hanging as to her true innocence or guilt. EJ's efforts to free Nicole on bail are thwarted by Bo's testimony. Nicole goes to jail, where she feels another twinge of pain. Determined to get out of jail, Nicole pretends she's having a medical emergency. Meanwhile, Stefano tells EJ that if Nicole is innocent he will find the real killer, but the baby is the real end game. EJ tells Stefano he cares as much about Nicole as the baby. He goes to visit Nicole but finds she's gone. She's not at University Hospital either – where is she?

Nicole has a hellish time in the hospital prison ward. She's almost attacked by the other patients. EJ comes to rescue her and admits he wanted to rescue both her and the baby. Nicole realizes EJ still cares about her.

Nicole admits to Bo and Hope that she took a gun to the cemetery with the intent to kill Trent, but couldn't go through with it. She saw a man lurking there. Nicole suddenly suspects that EJ might have framed her in order to take her baby.

Sami and Rafe continue to clash. Sami manages to deceive Rafe and call Lucas. She learns that Nicole has been arrested. Later, an exasperated Rafe steals her clothes while she's in the shower, so she's stuck there naked!

Melanie moves into Nick's house and learns it will just be the two of them there. She seems to put the brakes on Nick's interest in her, but her tune changes when she learns he might be able to make her some money with his prototype. Chelsea suspects Melanie is scheming and tries to warn Nick. When he rebuffs her, Chelsea goes to Philip asking for help. At EOD, we see a flashback of Nick writing the threatening note to Melanie and realize he may not be the victim here. Philip tells Chelsea she's overreacting about Nick. Chelsea turns to Max for help. Stephanie goes to the Cheatin' Heart determined to move on from Max, but he's bartending there. She gets drunk and Philip offers to drive her home.

Nick shows increasingly stalker-like behavior toward Melanie. He shows her the note he found in her purse and claims he's worried about her. Later, Nick fantasizes about being married to a grateful Melanie. Nick reassures her that he will keep the note secret. Later, Nick receives a confirmation that a foundation will back his alternative fuel project. He hugs Melanie, telling her she's going to be rich. Their hopes are dashed when Philip arrives and says Titan is behind the foundation and he's rescinding the offer; Nick's project will never see the light of day.

Nick asks Max for help so he can resubmit his proposal. He admits to Max that he's in love with Melanie. Meanwhile, Philip accuses Melanie of using Nick to get money. She denies this. Philip warns that Nick doesn't know how to handle a girl like Melanie, but he does.

Max tries to warn Nick against a relationship with Melanie. Max later learns that it's Mel's 18th birthday. Melanie receives another threatening phone call, and we see the caller is none other than Nick! Later, Nick convinces Melanie to stay in town and promises to take care of her. Philip runs into Stephanie at the health club and they express a mutual desire to take a break from dating.

Philip tracks down Daniel at the health club, where he finds him helping Chloe. He's furious that Daniel is not by Kate's side. Chloe lays into Philip and tells him to give Daniel a break. Philip apologizes. Later, Daniel and Chloe connect forge a friendship.

Lexie pledges her support to Abe while privately confessing to Chelsea her worries about life in the public spotlight. Lexie grows uneasy when Stefano calls inquiring about the status of the new police commissioner.

It's Election Day in Salem and Abe and Lexie wait at the Pub for the results. Tony confronts Stefano about killing the mayor for Lexie and warns that if Stefano was involved, it will cost Abe the election and his political career. Lexie tells Abe about her conversation with Stefano. Abe and Roman pay Stefano a visit. Stefano doesn't admit to killing the mayor but says he's glad he switched his support to Abe. Later, it's announced that Abe is the new mayor. Abe accepts the position as mayor. He and Roman discuss the police commissioner job and Roman thinks Bo is right for the job. Bo accepts the position.

Nick throws a creepy private birthday party for Melanie and gives her gifts, including a "friendship" ring. At EOD, we reveal that Nick murdered Trent!

Maggie faces off with Melanie. She tells her about Nick's weakness for helping wayward girls like Willow and Melanie, and about how Willow is now dead. Meanwhile, Nick is out of pain meds (for his gunshot wound) and goes to the hospital to get more. Back home, Maggie discovers the pills and is alarmed. Nick brushes it off, but starts making plans for him and Melanie to leave town. Melanie catches him and says she's not going anywhere. Nick storms out. Melanie receives a worried call from Maggie and pulls out some stationery to write down her message. She realizes it's the same stationery that the threatening note was written on!

Melanie confronts Nick about the notes and the phone calls. Nick admits he wrote the notes and made the calls, but he did it to protect her. Nick tells Melanie that he saw her murder Trent and she ultimately believes him. At first, she wants to turn herself in, but Nick convinces her to leave town with him. Meanwhile, Bo and Hope learn that the caretaker of the cemetery lied to them and was really there the night of Trent's murder. The caretaker IDs Nick and Bo and Hope are shocked.

Sami is trapped naked in the bathroom. When she thinks Rafe's asleep, she sneaks out and puts on his shirt. Rafe catches her and reacts when he sees her baby bump. Sami finally admits to Rafe that she's pregnant and he insists his superiors need to know the truth. Sami has a twinge, which preempts Rafe from telling his supervisor about her pregnancy. It turns out it was just the baby's first kick. Rafe agrees to think about revealing Sami's pregnancy, but once she's asleep, he takes out his phone.

Nicole accuses EJ of killing Trent and framing her so he can steal their baby. EJ takes offense and Nicole wonders if he truly believes she's innocent. EJ tells her yes. She expresses her feelings for EJ but he holds back. Nicole nearly walks out on him when she's released from jail. EJ promises that he can truly let Sami go. EJ and Nicole bond over the baby and she falls asleep in his arms.

Sami is beside herself when she learns Nicole was granted bail and is back home with Johnny. Sami laments EJ's situation and Rafe tells her she still has feelings for EJ. Sami is affected. Meanwhile, EJ joins Nicole for her pre-natal doctor's visit with Daniel, who asks if, when the time comes, they would like to know the sex of their baby and they decide to keep it a surprise. Back at home, Nicole is about to go upstairs to make love to EJ when there's a knock at the door.

Philip is so upset by Kate's condition, he wants her to end the chemo. Lucas agrees but Daniel is opposed. Alone with Kate, Chloe tells her not to give up. Kate decides to continue with the treatment and Daniel thanks Chloe.

Stephanie returns Max's shirt to him, signaling the absolute end of their relationship. She runs into Philip and offers to buy him a beer. Philip offers her a job at Titan and she accepts. Later, Chelsea stops by the pub and Max comforts her re: Kate. She accidentally uses his shirt to mop up some spilled tea and he says not to worry about it – it's just a rag.

Max apologizes to Kayla for not taking her advice before going to look for Melanie. Later, he runs into Chelsea and the two bond. Meanwhile, Lexie has trouble with Theo. Chelsea arrives and Theo calms down. Lexie feels a twinge of jealousy, but Kayla later convinces her she's a good mom.

Marlena and John discuss the fact that their divorce is final. John has another headache and Marlean helps him through the pain. She mentions that Sami is in the witness protection program and John is determined to find the killer. Marlean is impressed by his pro-active behavior. Suddenly, Brady shows up, explaining that he's out of rehab and has been working on a farm. John shows very little emotion toward his son. Marlena tells Brady she's not giving up on John, but she needs his help.

Brady runs into Chloe and apologizes to her for the way he treated her. They finally discuss the reasons for their divorce and find closure.

Nick convinces Melanie to leave town with him. He takes her to an airport motel and explains they're going to Vegas to get married, and he is hoping to start their honeymoon early. Melanie makes Nick promise he will always keep her secret (that she killed Trent), but later has a flashback and realizes Nick was the true killer! Meanwhile, Bo an dHope arrive at Maggie's house and learn Nick is on pain meds. They know the meds caused Nick's mother, Jessica, to do questionable things. Hope realizes Melanie's things are missing.

Chelsea and Max join Bo, Hope and Maggie. Maggie finds the threatening note from Nick and Chelsea recognizes his handwriting. Late, Hope reviews the evidence and realizes Nick may be the killer. Meanwhile, Melanie hits Nick on the head with a glass and tries to escape, but he catches her. She blurts out that she knows he killed her father. Philip and Stephanie listen in on Nick's phone (he dialed by accident). They figure out where Nick is and rush to the motel. Melanie is horrified to learn Nick was responsible for Willow's death, too. She tries to escape out the window and a struggle ensues. Bo and Hope burst into the room and Nick accidentally bumps Melanie and she falls from the balcony.

Philip and Bo manage to keep Melanie from falling to her death, while Hope arrests Nick for murder. Nick admits his guilt but asks Hope to get the charges dropped. Hope refuses to bend the rules. Meanwhile, Melanie expects to be vindicated now that Nick has admitted his guilt, but she still finds herself vilified by Philip, Chelsea and Stephanie, who blame her for Nick's downfall.

Nicole is shocked to see Brady at her door. EJ walks in on their embrace. Alone with Nicole, Brady learns of her pregnancy. He asks her for help with John's memory. Nicole later calls John and asks him to give Brady a chance. Meanwhile, EJ goes to see Marlena and learns the nature of Nicole and Brady's relationship. On his way out, EJ runs into Brady and says he wants to get a few things straight. EJ and Nicole meet back up at the mansion where they finally make love.

Lucas shows Chloe proof of his serious feelings for her (he is buying a house) and later makes it clear to Kate that he plans on marrying Chloe.

Brady and Nicole have a pleasant chat at the health club. Brady offers his number in case Nicole needs any support with her sobriety effort. Nicole throws it in her bag, sure she'll be fine. Meanwhile, Stefano offers EJ a job as an attorney for DiMera Shipping and he accepts. Nicole, EJ and Stefano have a "family" dinner together. EJ promises Nicole a surprise tomorrow. EJ's getaway with Nicole is interrupted by business. Nicole leaves for the lodge without him. Stefano tells EJ they're going to Argentina, so EJ calls Nicole and cancels. Nicole is ready to check out when she's hit with an intense pain and knows her baby is in trouble.

Sami is going stir crazy in the safe house and Rafael tries to get her to understand that she's an open target if she leaves. He reminds her that she'll likely give birth before being released. Even when she does go back, she'll be going with her baby and EJ will know. Rafe lets Sami peek out the window and she sees a church and gets an idea.

Kate's complete confidence in her recovery because of Daniel disturbs him. Daniel tells Chloe how he always gets too involved in his patients' recovery and doesn't want Kate to see his agitation. Chloe promises to keep his secret.

Marlena calls John on his bad behavior with Brady. John puts Roman on notice, saying he's going to use a P.I. to find the mayor's killer. Roman thinks he's doing this to get Marlena back; John does not confirm or deny. Roman thinks John should put his energy into reconnecting with Brady.

We learn the P.I. John has hired is Steve. Kayla eventually learns who Steve is working for and isn't happy but helps Steve look through mug shots. Across town, Marlena comes face to face with the mayor's killer, who demands info on Sami. Suddenly, John arrives and prepares to shoot the killer!

Nicole is hit with terrible cramps. When she can't reach EJ, she calls Brady, who arrives and rushes her to the nearest clinic. Nicole's blood pressure spikes and she begins to lose consciousness. Nicole is in pre-term labor. The baby dies and Brady must give Nicole the horrible news. EJ returns home to find that Nicole never came back. He learns she left the lodge with a handsome man and calls her cell. Brady takes her home and, when EJ arrives and asks if something's wrong, she says there is.

Rafe brings in Hilda to watch Sami. Hilda takes some cold medicine and passes out. Sami escapes and checks out the nearby convent. She meets Sister Teresa and tells her that her name is Colleen. Sister Teresa offers to help her. Meanwhile, Rafe tracks down EJ and spies as he talks to Hope. Hope asks EJ if Stefano had anything to do with the Mayor's murder but EJ denies any knowledge. Later, Rafe hears Julie tell Hope that EJ will do anything for his kids and Rafe realizes why Sami must keep her baby away from the DiMeras.

Nicole makes an effort but cannot bring herself to tell EJ about the baby. She admits the baby was in danger, but is now fine. However, EJ makes a call to the doctor and demands to know what really happened. Nicole vows to give her and EJ a baby.

Chelsea and Maggie visit Nick at the station. Nick asks Maggie to let Melanie stay with her. Chelsea confronts Nick about Melanie and he loses his cool. Chelsea tells Nick she blames Melanie for what happened to him. Meanwhile, Melanie applies for an admin job online. She goes to the interview and learns the job is for Philip's company. He refuses to hire her. Maggie tells Melanie she can stay with her. Melanie asks Maggie for a loan but she refuses, Chelsea overhears and confronts Melanie, and a catfight ensues!

Chelsea and Melanie fight but Philip finally breaks it up. Chelsea runs to Max, who promises he'll always be there for her. Stephanie chides Philip for not breaking up the fight sooner. Melanie, strapped for cash, sweet talks an older man and steals his wallet. The man catches her later in the alley. Philip saves her, then gives her a lecture, but she won't have it. She tells rich Philip that some people have to live in the real world. Later, Philip offers Melanie a job.

Kate is released from the hospital and given an impromptu surprise party to welcome her home. Daniel is called away and learns some serious news. Kate senses something is wrong.

Marlena stops John from shooting her assailant and the killer escapes. Marlena tells John he's the reason that Sami may be stuck in the witness protection program forever. She refuses to be around him unless he gets professional help. John agrees to one meeting with a psychiatrist, but on his own terms. Maggie solicits Marlena's advice about letting Melanie stay in her home.

October 2008

Max learns Melanie went to the Kiriakis family for help. He warns her to stay away from Philip. Melanie gets together with Philip anyway and they bond. When she goes to leave, Melanie drops Trent's wallet and Philip picks it up.

Nick gets a DUI and is brought into the station where he says it's his fault Trent is dead. Roman asks the D.A. for a search warrant for Max's room. He and Bo find the bloody shirt and Max admits he had an altercation with Trent on the night he died. Bo warns Max things aren't looking good for him. Meanwhile, Melanie privately recalls the night Trent was murdered: she accosted Trent with a knife and he threw his wallet at her. They struggled, the knife fell and Melanie blacked out. Later, Melanie and Stephanie have it out at the police station. Melanie overhears Bo saying unless they can prove someone else was involved, things aren't looking great for Max. An impulsive Melanie gets an idea.

Chelsea visits Nick in jail. Nick tells her he feels responsible for everything that has happened. Chelsea thinks he's hiding something and notices his hand is bruised. After Chelsea leaves, Melanie asks Nick what happened but he can't tell her until he's released. Bo warns Melanie that he will be watching her. Later, Philip arrives at the station with a tip about Trent's wallet. Meanwhile, the D.A. isn't moving forward with charges for Max. He's free to go. Max and Stephanie talk about how there is no room for secrets in their relationship. Little does Stephanie know, Melanie has planted Trent's wallet in her bag and Max finds it!

Abe meets with his new campaign manager, Evan. Lexie joins him and is supportive. The current Mayor arrives and insults Abe. Abe vows to fight for the Mayor's job. Lexie and Abe return to the park to find Theo's babysitter distraught because he is missing. They are frantic to find him. Theo went to the hospital to see Chelsea. After the emotional reunion, Abe and Lexie discuss Abe running for Mayor. Abe decides to do it.

EJ has to go to a meeting and reluctantly lets Stefano watch Johnny. Meanwhile, Sami wakes up at Lucas' and he encourages her to tell EJ the truth about the baby. Stefano and Johnny run into Sami. Stefano tells Sami he hopes she and EJ honor him with more grandchildren. Sami takes off in a panic. Lucas runs into EJ and almost lets it slip that Sami's pregnant with his child. Later, Lucas finds Sami having a nightmare about Stefano's influence over Johnny. Sami decides not to tell EJ about their unborn baby. Lucas tells her if she doesn't tell EJ, he will. Nicole tries to tell EJ she's pregnant with his baby, but backs off when she forces him to choose between her and Sami and EJ chooses Sami.

Marlena and Roman meet with Sami, who struggles with the decision to tell her parents she's pregnant with EJ's baby. Sami decides not to tell them the truth. She goes to the mansion to talk to EJ but is shocked when she hears Nicole blurt out that she is also pregnant.

Kayla convinces Marlena to use reverse psychology on John in order to help him. Meanwhile, John and Stefano argue and John gets a headache. John later calls one of Stefano's board members and undermines Stefano. Marlena arrives at the mansion with divorce papers, but John balks. Marlena tells John he's clearly ill and won't even help himself. John pulls Marlena into a hot kiss. Meanwhile, Stefano has a change of heart. Knowing how unstable John is, he wants him to go before the board for everyone to see.

Marlena leaves without the signed divorce papers. Nicole finds John in the middle of an episode. John lies and says he'll go to the doctor, then offers to help Nicole with her situation. Nicole agrees. Meanwhile, Marlena meets with EJ and asks him to help convince John to see a doctor about his episodes. EJ agrees to speak to John.

EJ tries to convince John to seek treatment for his episodes but he refuses. EJ gives up but not before telling John he's incapable of being selfless. Affected by EJ's words, John later tells Nicole she should tell EJ about the baby. After being forced into it by John, Nicole tells EJ she's pregnant with his child. Sami interrupts and accuses Nicole of lying. Sami leaves and Nicole tells EJ how happy she is to be pregnant. EJ tells a devastated Nicole he wants proof the child is his.

Sami decides to use Nicole's pregnancy to her advantage. She thinks EJ will be too focused on Nicole to realize she is pregnant, too. Sami makes Lucas promise not to tell. Meanwhile, EJ wants Nicole to take a paternity test. Tests prove EJ is the father.

EJ accuses Nicole of using her pregnancy for financial gain and she agrees; she needs to make sure her baby is provided for. Meanwhile, Sami tries to hide her belly with new clothes. Chloe arrives and is shocked to see Sami in the cabin. Lucas tells Chloe that Sami is living at the cabin for the time being. Angry Chloe walks out. Later, Chloe learns Nicole is pregnant. EJ arrives at the cabin. He tells Sami he's there to see Johnny but we get the sense he's longing for Sami. Sami thinks Nicole's pregnancy is a good sign for her and EJ to end things. Later, Lucas apologizes to Chloe and EJ asks Nicole out on a date. Lucas nixes Sami's idea to claim paternity of her baby.

EJ arrives at Nicole's hotel room to pick her up for their date. He learns that she is about to be evicted and convinces her to move in to the mansion with him. At the mansion, EJ and Nicole tell Stefano about his future heir. The trio toast to the new baby.

Chloe misinterprets a moment between Sami and Lucas and learns that Sami is pregnant. She confronts Lucas and learns the child is EJ's. Sami gathers her courage to tell EJ the truth. Meanwhile, things heat up between Nicole and EJ.

Max confronts Stephanie about finding Trent's wallet in her purse. Stephanie thinks Melanie planted the wallet. Max tells Stephanie he knows for a fact Melanie didn't kill Trent. Stephanie tells Max the only way he would know for sure is if he did it himself. Meanwhile, Melanie tells Philip about the argument she had with Trent in the cemetery. Philip asks Melanie if she killed Trent. Melanie says she doesn't know. Stephanie and Max go to Bo to run the wallet for prints. Their prints are the only ones on the wallet.

Melanie tells Nick she thinks his drinking was because of her. She thinks he needs to stay away from her, but Nick disagrees. The two of them come together in a hot kiss.

Steph and Max confront Melanie about the wallet. Stephanie finally loses control and attacks Melanie for her behavior. Later, alone with Max, Melanie cracks and admits she may well have killed her father. She doesn't remember what happened.

Kate spends a day by the Kiriakis pool and encounters hunky Daniel. She learns her biopsy is inconclusive. Daniel reassures his commitment to her as a doctor and a friend. They end up making love.

Abe andLexie fire Theo's caregiver, Lacey. She calls the current mayor and offers some unflattering information about Abe. Later, Lacey accuses Abe and Lexie of being terrible parents. She asks the reporters if Abe is the kind of man this city needs. Abe wants to fight, but Lexie has had enough and walks out. Abe refuses to play dirty in his campaign. A blogger shows up and Lexie gives him an exclusive, saying the Carvers are going to fight, but fairly. Across town, the mayor hassles Stefano for more support. Stefano agrees to help his campaign against Abe, but only if he leaves Lexie and Theo out of it.

Lexie informs the angry mayor that Stefano will no longer secretly support him. The mayor goes to the mansion to confront Stefano. As Nicole and EJ are about to make love inside, outside the mayor is shot by a killer who turns to flee – and comes face-to-face with Sami!

Sami reacts to the mayor's murder. Nicole thinks she's invented the story, until she trips and falls over the mayor's body. Roman arrives to take charge and Sami and Nicole talk privately. Nicole tries to set some ground rules, now that she's pregnant with EJ's child. Later, Nicole manages to pull EJ away from Sami by playing up concern over her fall. Sami tries to remember the killer's face. Meanwhile, the killer is determined to kill Sami – that night!

John tries to convince Marlena he's a changed man. He tells her about EJ and Nicole. Later, Sami visits Marlena. Marlena tells Sami she's glad she's not pregnant with EJ's child.

John tells Stefano he's giving up his rights to the DiMera empire and moving out of the mansion. Later, he shares the news with Marlena and presents her with the signed divorce papers.

EJ takes Nicole to the hospital for a check-up. Daniel tells Nicole she's fine. EJ assures Nicole he's serious about her and their baby. While Nicole is alone, she gets an intense pain. John finds her, but she refuses to go to the doctor. Later, while eating ice cream with EJ, she feels the pain again, but covers. Meanwhile, Marlena invites Sami to stay at the penthouse but she declines. Lucas and Chloe are having a romantic evening when they're interrupted by a call from Sami, asking Lucas to pick her up at the police station. Chloe visits Nicole and says there's something she should know about Sami. At EOD, Sami, Lucas and EJ are at the cabin and the killer is outside.

The killer shoots at Sami, but EJ manages to knock her down just in time, saving her. Roman tells Sami that the only way to keep her safe is to have her enter the witness protection program. Meanwhile, Nicole has a heart-to-heart with Chloe about her battle with Sami over EJ's heart. Chloe starts to tell Nicole about Sami's pregnancy, but Lucas stops her. They find out about the shooting at the cabin and Lucas runs off to check on Sami.

Realizing she can hide her pregnancy from EJ, Sami agrees to enter the witness protection program. She must say goodbye to her parents and the twins. Baby Johnny points to Sami's belly and says, "Baby." EJ is twigged. Sami manages to cover. Roman and Sami's guard, Darrell, escort Sami to a secret loft. Meanwhile, a hit man lurks outside the cabin, hot on Sami's trail. Chloe and Lucas admit to a degree of relief that Sami is gone and they make love. Meanwhile, Nicole spends a grueling night babysitting Johnny and isn't sure if she's happy Sami is gone.

Melanie tells Max that she was with Trent before, and after, he died and that they struggled over a knife. She insists she blacked out during his actual murder. She begs Max to keep the secret. Max tells Stephanie the story and they reaffirm they're love and trust in one another. Later, a conflicted Stephanie tells Bo and Hope about Melanie's argument with Trent in the cemetery. Bo and Hope confront Melanie. Stephanie admits to Max what she did and he breaks up with her. Meanwhile, Melanie has a flashback from the night in the cemetery. She stands over Trent's body, appearing calm, collected and guilty.

While at dinner with Nick, Melanie sees a vision of Trent and cuts her date short. She sees Trent again and he accuses her of being responsible for his murder. Melanie is shaken. She then encounters Philip, who tells her he knows she had Trent's wallet and wants to turn her in. Melanie starts to seduce Philip in order to buy his silence. Meanwhile, Bo andHope question Max, who refuses to back up Stephanie's story about Melanie. Stephanie overhears and the gulf between her and Max widens.

Philip plays along with Melanie's seduction and tries to get her to admit the truth. He finally tells her he doesn't sleep with murderers and, now that he knows how devious she is, he has to turn her in. He takes her to Bo. Melanie gets vicious and says there is no hard evidence against her. Max witnesses this and realizes he may have supported a murderer, costing him his girlfriend. He tries to talk to Stephanie, but she has nothing to say. Alone, Melanie plans to leave town. She receives a note that reads, "I saw you at the cemetery. I know what happened."

Kate tells Daniel she's feeling better and is convinced she doesn't have cancer. And if she's no longer Daniel's patient, there's nothing standing in the way of their relationship. Chelsea almost walks in on them, but Daniel gets paged. Chelsea realizes Kate and Daniel are together again and berates her grandmother. She wishes she never had to see Kate again! Daniel walks in with Kate's test results. Kate reads them and learns she has cancer.

Lexie learns about the mayor's death and goes to confront Stefano. He denies responsibility. Alone, Stefano asks on a one-way call, "What have you done?"

Lexie tells Tony she's concerned she may be responsible for the mayor's death. At a press conference, a reporter asks Lexie if Stefano funded the late mayor's campaign, as well as Abe's. Lexie is blindsided. Later, Lexie tells Tony she's afraid the killing might not be over.

John asks Marlena if she's had a chance to file the divorce papers. Marlena says no. When John asks why, she admits she doesn't know. John is suddenly hopeful, but Marlena says she still plans to go through with the divorce.

Sami fakes being sick so Darrell will call a doctor. Darrell finds out and quits. He's replaced by Hilda, a tough woman who won't put up with Sami's tricks. Sami locks horns with Hilda and finally resorts to drugging her with sleeping pills. Hilda passes out just as a stranger appears in the hallway outside the loft. A man with a gun enters Sami's loft and gives her a scare, but it turns out he is Rafe, a hunky witness protection program agent. Rafe realizes that Sami drugged Hilda and lays into her. Hilda comes to and quits. Rafe learns, to his dismay, that he's Sami's new guard.

Melanie finds Nick in the hallway outside her room. Nick warns her that, if she leaves Salem, she'll look guilty. If she stays, he can help her prove her innocence. Melanie tells Nick she'll meet him for lunch tomorrow, but we see her making arrangements to leave Salem for good.

Melanie received a phone call from a man who says he knows what she did. Max tells Bo he's worried Melanie killed Trent. Melanie adds to their suspicion by trying to skip town. Trent's attorney arrives with the will. Trent has left Melanie everything, which is nothing except potential income from Nick's project. Max is left a box that he refuses to open. The attorney tells Melanie in private that Trent left an envelope to be opened in the event of his death. Melanie starts to open it but is caught by Bo and Hope. They set her up to see if she'd hide evidence. Bo opens the envelope, then tells Melanie she's free to go. Melanie confronts Philip for selling her out. Philip reminds her she's still a suspect.

Bo and Hope tell Nicole that they know she's lying about the night Trent was murdered – and they have proof! They show Nicole a torn marriage certificate with her fingerprints on it and a note from Trent accusing her of threatening him. Bo and Hope search Nicole's closet and find a dress with distinctive beads, which match one found at the crime scene. Bo and Hope arrest Nicole.

Stephanie confides in Philip her worries that Melanie will always come between her and Max. Philip defends Melanie and Stephanie calls him on it. Meanwhile, Melanie tries to make nice with Max. Nick arrives and suggests Melanie stay with him at Maggie's. Bo informs them that Nicole has been arrested and apologizes to Melanie, but she threatens a lawsuit. Alone, Melanie eyes a knife and comments on what a lucky girl she is. Meanwhile, EJ and Nicole are at the station.

Chelsea rushes to the Java Café to look up information on lung cancer. she tries to confide in Nick, but he's obviously preoccupied with Melanie's problems. Chelsea crosses paths with Melanie and lays into her.

Kate tells her sons that she has lung cancer and is starting chemo. Kate asks Lucas to look after her business and Philip lets him go from Titan. Meanwhile, Chelsea admits to Daniel that she feels horrible for her harsh words to Kate. She brings Kate a St. Sofia medal as Kate begins chemo.

Kate puts on a brave face as she undergoes chemo. Daniel admits to Lucas that Kate's odds are not good and Lucas is shaken. Chloe and Kate declare a truce for Lucas' sake. Chloe is shaken by her visit to Kate; it brings back memories of her own bout with cancer.

Abe, Lexie and Theo prepare for a photo shoot. There is an incident with Theo and a patron at the Java Café and Lexie worries about thrusting their family further into the public eye. They are interviewed and it goes very well until Theo gets overwhelmed. Lexie/Abe have doubts about exposing Theo to life in the public eye if Abe becomes Mayor.

September 2008

Theo is with the therapist doing exercises. Abe and Lexie are starting to relax. They go to the park and watch Theo play. Theo attempts to communicate and Abe and Lexie are happy to be together with their son as a family, but they're still tense with each other. Steve and Kayla show up and sense the tension. Abe confides in Steve about the pressures at work and the challenges with Theo. Kayla warns Lexie that the hospital board is not happy about the lockdown. Abe picks up Theo to take him to his therapy appointment, but Theo has a meltdown. Abe and Lexie calm him. Lexie has a fantasy about the kid Theo could have been and cries.

Abe sees Lexie hugging Daniel and tells him to stay the hell away from his wife. Abe and Lexie have a session with Dr. Carrington. Lexie tells the doctor that Abe doesn't trust her; he thinks she's going to cheat on him again. Abe says he doesn't want Lexie to be friends with Daniel.

Lucas and Chloe start moving his and Allie's things out of the mansion. Lucas expects to win the custody battle. Lucas asks Chloe to join him at the Horton cabin. Kate arrives and insults Lucas's choice in women. Lucas is awarded joint custody of Allie. Sami is not happy and refuses to share her daughter. EJ tells Sami it will be best if she accepts the judge's decision. All they can do is appeal, but it will take time. Sami has a hard time saying goodbye to Allie, but EJ steps in and hands the baby over to Lucas.

Lucas takes Chloe and Allie to the Horton cabin. Any romance between Lucas and Chloe is cut short by the crying baby. Chloe tries to comfort Allie but tells Lucas it's not going to work.

Nicole runs into EJ and he gives her a little hope about their relationship. He tells her that when he was kissing Sami, he felt like he was cheating on Nicole.

Everyone listens in as Tony speaks to Stefano on the phone. Bo arrives and challenges Stefano to move back to the mansion; he'll be waiting. Stefano returns and Bo arrests him and takes him to Roman's office. Roman receives a call from City Hall ordering them to release Stefano. Stefano returns home and orders everyone to get out!

Roman tells John they are not charging Stefano with any crime, unless John wants to press charges. Victor pays a visit to Stefano and it's clear they are back in business. They've allied together to put pressure on Paul to take the fall for Philip and John.

Stefano meets with Tony and EJ and tells his sons to quit fighting and join forces with him. Tony resists coming to Stefano's side. Stefano has a revealing moment where he admits he loves his sons.

Morgan reunites with Paul. Hope gets a call that Paul has been spotted. She heads out and arrests him and he claims he was on his way to turn himself in. John is summoned to the police station to answer questions about the Paul Hollingsworth case.

Bo is about to be questioned by Internal Affairs about the Hollingsworth evidence. John shows up at the station and is confronted by Morgan, who demands to know what he did to Paul. Bo tells John that Paul turned himself in and is taking responsibility for planting the cocaine and committing arson.

Daniel wants to move forward with Chelsea, but she's decided it's not going to work. She's moving on, without him. Daniel understands that she needs time alone, but doesn't want her to walk away forever.

Max still wants to get to know Melanie better. Stephanie is not happy about that. She tries to prove her point by showing Max Melanie's video blog. Max wants Melanie to return to Salem with them. Stephanie is wary of Melanie but tries to be supportive. She and Max make love.

Max and Melanie have a talk about each other's upbringing. Melanie tells Max that she and Trent don't really get along. Max tells Melanie about how Trent abandoned him and she is furious. Trent calls and Melanie cuts him off, without mentioning Max.

Marlena has breakfast with Trent and he asks her out. Marlena turns him down but it prompts her to ask John for a divorce.

Nicole seeks out EJ as a friend and a lawyer, but doesn't want anything romantic from him if he still loves Sami. Sami gets upset with EJ for not looking for Allie. EJ points out that Allie is not his child and storms out. Later, EJ pieces together that Sami has left for the cabin and rushes after her. Nicole also figures it out and dials the police to report a kidnapping. Meanwhile, Sami finds Allie at the cabin, unattended. EJ catches her but she swears she's just checking in on the baby. The cops arrive and arrest Sami.

Kayla checks out Kate's cough. Kate tells Kayla she's too busy to get the recommended tests. Daniel learns about Kate's condition and approaches her, upset that she won't get the tests done.

Kate comes to the DiMera mansion for a date with Stefano. Tony and Anna eavesdrop and are shocked when Stefano proposes marriage to Kate. Kate says she'll think about it. Tony realizes he could use Kate to get the DiMera empire away from Stefano.

Philip tells Morgan he'd like to bury their past and start over. Morgan says it's not that easy – she'll always think about how Philip wanted to harm her dad.

Kate overhears Philip admitting he has feelings for Morgan. Philip tries to convince Kate to get her cough checked out. She says she won't interfere in his life if he won't interfere in hers. Philip learns about Kate's fling with Daniel. He questions Daniel about his loyalty to Victor. Morgan and Philip discuss the situation. Philip says they belong together and they kiss.

Philip tries to convince Morgan to go away on a romantic weekend with him, but she has doubts. Kate has a coughing fit, which alarms Morgan. Kate urges Morgan to keep quiet about it. Victor tells Philip he can't leave town; he needs to focus on the family business. He is shocked to learn about Kate's illness and her fling with Daniel. He confronts Kate and she admits to the affair.

Bo, Hope and Abe are frustrated about letting Stefano walk. Abe admits he's on edge because of Theo. Lexie gets called before the hospital board to review her position as Chief of Staff.

John is thrown to learn Marlena has a date. He reminds her that they are married. Marlena thinks John is a hypocrite since he dated Ava Vitali. John tries to convince Marlena not to date Trent, but she insists on moving on with her life.

Trent asks Marlena to join him for a drink. Nicole finds an upset John looking through the window watching Marlena and Trent. Nicole pushes John's buttons. He rushes in and punches Trent in the face. John apologizes, not knowing what happened, and rushes out.

Chelsea arrives in France. Trent calls Melanie and admits he's been gambling again and he's strapped for cash. He tells her he needs her to have a drink with his old friend Claude. Melanie thinks Claude is a creep. Nick shows up and surprises Melanie. A thug confronts Nick and knocks him unconscious. Claude shows up and tries to get physical with Melanie. Nick comes to and tries to help Melanie, but he gets shot by the thug. Max kicks the door down and rushes in, followed by the French cops.

Nick is treated by the paramedics for his gun shot wound. Melanie comes clean with Max; Trent pimped her out to pay his gambling debts. Max swears he will kill Trent. Meanwhile, Chelsea tells Stephanie the truth about why she and Daniel broke up. Later, Chelsea discovers Nick is interested in Melanie and warns him that she could be a problem. Chelsea breaks down when explaining to Nick her situation with Daniel and Kate. Daniel calls Chelsea, but she can't bring herself to answer.

Max tells Stephanie and Chelsea about Trent pimping out Melanie to pay off his debts. Stephanie tries to calm Max down but to no avail. Max talks about getting revenge against Trent. Melanie shows up and announces she is going back to Salem to deal with Trent herself. Melanie goes to the hospital to say good-bye to Nick and they kiss, which Chelsea witnesses.

Steve calls Hope to run a background check on Trent and learns he's still married. Nicole listens in, nervously. Trent threatens to tell Victor everything unless Nicole gives him enough money to pay off his gambling debts.

Bo and Hope are following a lead on Trent's wife. They discover that her name is Misty Circle; she's a porn star. Bo reveals that the name used to belong to Nicole.

A depressed Philip joins Nicole at the pub. Philip tells Nicole about his problems with Morgan. Nicole rails on Sami and tells Philip about her film noir fantasy. Nicole assures Philip things will turn out better for her in real life. EJ enters and confronts Nicole about calling the cops on Sami, but agrees Sami is out of control. EJ moves off and Daniel joins Nicole; we see a slight connection between these two.Meanwhile, Lucas and Chloe are at the Horton cabin. Chloe wonders if Lucas still loves Sami. Lucas does not; he thinks Sami is now in love with EJ.

Sami defends her actions to Roman. Marlena tells Sami it's time for her to grow up. Lucas's visit with Allie has been extended because of Sami's actions. Sami is mad EJ didn't stand by her. EJ says her behavior is self destructive and he doesn't want any part of it.

Nicole is at the pub when EJ enters. They talk about running off to a deserted island. EJ admits he can't leave Salem but he wants to explore a relationship with Nicole. She says that if they do end up together, Sami can't be part of the picture. EJ reminds Nicole that Sami will always be Johnny's mother, but that's it. Bo and Hope confront Nicole with their knowledge of her marriage to Trent.

Stefano throws a cocktail party at the mansion. Tony, Anna, John, EJ and Sami are there. Marlena shows up because she received a message to meet John. Stefano tells Marlena she's his guest of honor; he wants his family to hear what she did to him. Marlena is horrified and bolts. John chases her and tells her they'll get through this together. Marlena returns to the dinner and tells the truth about injecting Stefano with the untraceable toxin.

Philip runs into Kate, who's coughing again. He takes her to the hospital where Daniel puts her on oxygen. Later, Kate coughs up blood. Philip calls Lucas to the hospital and offers him a job at Titan. Lucas accepts. Philip sets up a conference with Austin and Billie so they can all convince Kate to get the tests she needs. Kate finally agrees. Daniel looks at Kate's x-ray and is thrown. He tells a nurse to get the x-rays to a pulmonologist.

EJ fills Lexie in on how Stefano tried to make peace with him and Tony. Theo has a temper tantrum. EJ sees Lexie's stress and offers to help in any way he can.

Lexie is called before the hospital board. Daniel has also been called to testify. The head of the board, believes Lexie's performance as Chief of Staff needs to be examined. Meanwhile, the mayor arrives at the police station. He's not happy about the P.D.'s response to the hospital lockdown and wants someone's resignation. Abe accuses the mayor of taking bribes from Stefano and the tension escalates. Abe removes his badge and storms out.

The board votes and Lexie is allowed to stay on, but decides to resign in order to spend more time with Theo. She goes home to tell Abe about her decision. Theo finishes a train puzzle and says "Choo choo." Lexie and Abe are blown away.

Stephanie, Melanie, Max, Nick and Chelsea return to Salem. Max confronts Trent at the pub, punches him and holds a broken bottle to his neck. Caroline convinces Max to let Trent go. Nick promises to go to the University about Trent's harmful actions. Melanie yells at her father and Max says he'll kill Trent.

Melanie confronts Trent in front of everyone at the pub, revealing that he tried to pimp her out in France. Nick comforts Melanie, which jealous Chelsea sees. Furious Caroline throws Trent out of the pub, and later offers Melanie a place to stay. Stephanie confides in Steve and Kayla that she's worried Max might do something rash. Later, Chelsea tells Stephanie that she still has feelings for Nick. Meanwhile, after much prodding from Bo, Nicole tells Victor that she is still legally married to Trent. She reveals that Trent abused her and she ran away from him. Victor sympathizes, but still insists she return her divorce settlement money. Later, Victor makes a mysterious call about Trent.

Melanie and Trent have another angry confrontation, and she says she wishes Max had killed him when he had the chance. Nick intervenes and threatens to destroy Trent's reputation at the university. Trent counters that he will reveal Nick did not do all of the work on his grant.

Nicole tells Trent she lost her divorce money, and that he owes her. Max intervenes when Trent grabs Nicole. Trent taunts Max and tells him he'll never be a Brady; he's just like his father.

Melanie meets max at Chez Rouge and we see she has Trent's wallet. Maggie notices a bruise on Nick's fist. Melanie offers to buy Nick dinner (with Trent's money). Meanwhile, Max rushes into his room and removes a bloody shirt. Steph arrives and they make love. At EOD, Steph finds the shirt. Caroline goes to visit Grandpa Shawn's grave. A figure approaches. Bo/Hope arrive, after hearing her scream. Trent's body has fallen on Caroline, with a knife sticking out his back!

Bo has no choice but to arrest Caroline and she is thrown in jail. We learn who the suspects are in Trent's murder. Stephanie confronts Max about the bloody shirt and he admits he had a fight with Trent. She learns Trent has been murdered but promises to support Max. Julie meets Melanie and is suspicious when she quickly starts crying at the police station. Hope and Steve canvass the crime scene and at EOD, the medical examiner finds a clothing fiber that must belong to the killer.

Nicole tells EJ that the truth is out about her marriage to Trent. EJ thinks they can spin it in court but is worried about what Trent might say about Nicole. She says he's no longer a problem and clarifies by saying that his secret is out and he'll surely leave town. At EOD, Nicole becomes nauseous. She finds out she's pregnant!

Chloe and Philip flirt at the pub. It's clear they still have feelings for each other. Chloe confides how much she misses singing. Lucas encourages Chloe to go back to her music career and asks Philip to make a call to an opera company the Kiriakis Foundation is underwriting.

Daniel sees Chelsea for the first time since she returned from France. He wants to move past their problems but Chelsea can't do it. Daniel calls Kate to plan the next steps in her diagnosis. Chelsea overhears. Daniel informs Kate that he suspects she has lung cancer.

Lexie finally pays a visit to Stefano and they have a heart-to-heart. Stefano tells her how disappointed he was in how she handled his coma. Lexie tells Stefano she wants nothing more to do with him.

Stefano tells John the two of them need to settle their differences regarding the DiMera empire. John is prepared to go to court if Stef won't give him his fair share. John says he wants DiMera Shipping – Stef agrees. John then warns Stef that EJ/Tony are out to take everything away from him and restore the family name. Stef knows and says that will never happen.

Marlena tells Anna that she's worried about John. She reveals that she and John made love, but she's still frustrated and ready to give up on him. Anna urges her to reconsider.

John is with Anna when he short-circuits and has a seizure. Kayla examines him and reviews his test results with Marlena. Kayla believes John's problems stem from his "programming" by Stefano. Marlena goes to see Stefanoe and demands he help her fix John but he refuses. Stefano admits to Rolf he's just using John's deterioration to destroy Marlena.

The mayor announces Abe's successor as police commissioner – Hope Brady! Hope is stunned. She has her doubts about accepting Abe's old job. Bo and Roman want her to consider taking the job so she can help take down Stefano. Bo promises to support whatever decision she makes. She decides to turn down the job but prays she's made the right decision.

Bo vies for the police commissioner job. The mayor says he'll consider Bo. Hope warns Bo that, if he gets the job, he'll have to play by the rules, regardless of the situation.

August 2008

Hope is upset Bo risked his career and reputation to protect Philip, but they are soul mates and she will stay by his side. Philip tells Morgan he had a dream that she was falling in love with him. He pulls her into a kiss. Meanwhile, Kate and Victor agree they must work together to protect their sons. Victor wants to keep Morgan and Philip apart.

Philip checks himself out of the hospital. Hope shows up to talk to him about his threat to Paul. Philip says he'll do whatever he can to protect Bo. Morgan says she'll take care of Philip until he's completely recovered.

The girls prepare Hope for her big surprise. She is blindfolded and taken outside. Bo is there with a horse and carriage. Bo and Hope enjoy a romantic carriage ride on the way to St. Luke's where family and friends have all gathered. Caroline and Doug preside as Bo and Hope renew their vows. A reporter shows up and announces that there's something everyone should know about Bo. Bo sees John lurking in the shadows.

The reporter accuses Bo of destroying evidence in the Hollingsworth case. Roman asks Bo if this is true and he confesses. Roman arrests Bo and tells him this will cost him his badge. Philip is forced to tell Morgan that he threatened to kill Paul. Morgan tells him to go to hell.

Tony tells Lexie that Stefano is being brought to the hospital. He's had a seizure. Tony and EJ are with comatose Stefano, who has accelerated brain activity and is having seizures. Alone, Stefano wakes up from the coma and vows to get revenge on Marlena.

Stefano continues to pretend he's unconscious, but he speaks to Tony alone. Later, EJ comes to visit and Stefano speaks to him, as well. Lexie and John are suspicious of Stefano and Lexie suggests he gets electroshock therapy.

John enters Stefano's room and threatens to kill him. EJ and Tony confront Stefano and agree to keep his secret if he's honest with them. Suddenly, Stefano's eyes open. Anna confronts Tony and demands he tell Lexie that Stefano is awake.

Anna is freaking out that she needs to warn John that Stefano is awake. Rolf learns the news. Stefano tells Tony and EJ he doesn't know who to trust; they both betrayed him. Stefano vows revenge on Marlena. Sami walks in and sees that Stefano is awake.

EJ tells Ava there's a new judge on her case who cannot be bribed. The plane crash can now be traced to Ava. She leaves the country, upsetting John.

Marlean goes to shower and we see a person in a ski mask holding a hypodermic needle. Marlena grabs a letter opener, ready to defend herself, but she ends up on the floor with a needle sticking out of her neck. She reaches to take it out. She tries to phone for help but realizes she's now paralyzed.

Max sees Melanie at the bistro. He has seconds to get to her before Les does. He says he'll pay what she owes to Les and reveals he's her older brother. Back in Salem, Chelsea finds Nick viewing Melanie's video blog and think he's moving on with her. Nick conceals the girl's identity and tries to reach Max. He decides to leave the country.

Max explains to Melanie that Trent does not know he's been looking for her. Melanie isn't fully accepting and does not hit it off with Stephanie, who is very protective of Max. Suddenly, Melanie is arrested. She is accused of stealing a girl's (Tiffany's) bracelet. Melanie denies but Max calls her on it. Both Melanie and Max are arrested for possession of stolen goods and Tiffany wants to press charges. Melanie's old flame George bails her out. Stephanie argues with a French cop and gets thrown in jail with Max.

Lexie brings Theo to the café so Chelsea can get to know him better. Chelsea is helping his occupational therapist.

Anna finds John and tells him Stefano is awake. They rush off to find Marlena. John breaks into her penthouse and they find her passed out on the floor. John starts CPR. EJ and Sami rush in. Marlena finally starts breathing and is rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

Marlena tells Kayla that, soon, she will slip into a coma and admits she injected Stefano with the same toxin. John confronts Stefano and shakes him, demanding to know how to save Marlena. Steve pulls him back. Later, Kayla is about to inject Marlena's IV with a drug she believes will help her when a purple vapor pours through the circulation vents. Kayla puts an oxygen mask on Marlena and tells her she'll be back. Stefano appears and confronts Marlena.

Stefano continues to blame Marlena for putting him in a coma. Sami threatens Stefano and is ready to physically attack him, but EJ pulls her back. Stefano vows to get revenge on Marlena. Stefano tells Tony to decide whose side he's on – now.

John confronts Stefano and says he should have suffocated him when he had the chance. He tells Stefano about his meeting with Colleen.

Everyone discovers that Stefano has disappeared. Tony, Anna and John start looking for him. John is determined to stop him from harming Marlena.

The seventh floor of the hospital is suddenly in total lockdown. Sami panics as she can't open any doors or windows. Sami, EJ, Steve, Tony and Anna all start coughing as the purple vapor pours into the air. The only person not coughing is John.

Roman has set up a base of operations in the trauma center to deal with the lockdown on the seventh floor. Philip and Nicole show up, worried about Chloe and EJ. Nicole admits to Philip that she's falling for EJ. Roman hooks up the security cameras on the seventh floor to a monitor in the trauma center.

John, Anna and Tony are in the electrical room, trying to turn on the emergency ventilation system. Tony makes a comment to John about taking over the DiMera Empire. The two of them face off and John says Tony needs to choose a side. Meanwhile, Stefano stands over Marlena after removing her oxygen mask. He won't kill her; he wants her to suffer the same hell she put him through. Later, Stefano shows Marlena the broken disk containing John's memories and tosses the pieces in the trash.

Tony almost knocks John out with a wrench after hallucinating that he's Stefano. Tony rushes out and finds Anna unconscious. She comes to. Tony tells her how much he loves her and rushes back to John, determined to help him. Meanwhile, John hears Stefano's voice over the intercom, telling his "pawn" that it's time to reboot. John says he's not Stefano's pawn and smashes the intercom. Meanwhile, Marlena is partially paralyzed. Anna comes in and puts the oxygen mask back on Marlena.

Sami sees Stefano, who tells her he has no intention of hurting her if she listens to him. Stefano tells Sami he hopes that little Giovanni is the first of many more DiMera heirs. Sami tells him to go to hell. Sami hallucinates and trips EJ, who falls down the stairs. Sami rushes to him, apologizing and saying she truly cares about him. EJ wakes up and asks if she meant what she said. Sami admits she has feelings for EJ. They kiss. Nicole sees them on the monitor in the trauma center and is devastated.

Kayla finds Steve, who is with baby Joe. He has put an oxygen mask on the baby. Kayla and Steve pass out from the fumes. Stefano enters and sees baby Joe sleeping, wearing the oxygen mask. When Steve and Kayla wake up, Joe is gone!

Nicole can't believe EJ chose Sami over her. She starts drinking and has a fantasy (black and white film noir), which Lucas narrates. Sami and EJ are in bed together when his wife, Nicole, arrives. Sami hides in the closet as EJ covers. Nicole finds an earring on the floor. Sami shows up at Lucas' P.I. office and realizes her earring is missing. Later, Nicole brings the earring to Lucas, wanting to hire him to find out who EJ's been sleeping with. Lucas recognizes the earring. He confronts Sami and gives her another chance but she leaves him. Meanwhile, Chloe auditions to sing at Philip's 1940's bistro and gets the job. She goes to see her old boss Lucas and throws herself at him, but he can't cheat on his wife. EJ tells Nicole their marriage is over. Sami shows up for a tryst with EJ but finds Nicole instead. Nicole smothers Sami with a pillow.

EJ arrives looking for Sami but Nicole has hidden the body. Nicole accuses EJ of having an affair. EJ admits he can't be faithful and leaves. Nicole calls Lucas over. He mourns Sami and threatens to kill Nicole. Later, Nicole confesses to EJ that she murdered Sami. EJ is impressed and they make love. Roman and Abe show up and arrest Nicole. Meanwhile, Lucas finds Chloe embracing Philip. He's hurt, but says he understands that she couldn't wait for him. Chloe kisses Philip but he says he doesn't take seconds. Chloe finds Lucas and expresses her true feelings. Lucas kisses her. He tells Chloe his plans to leave town and asks her to marry him. Meanwhile, Philip discovers that Morgan was filling in as the piano player in the bistro. She tells him she's interested in him and they walk off, arm in arm. In the real world, Nicole breaks out of her fantasy. Unsettled, she rushes to the hospital to see what's happening with EJ.

Roman believes Stefano is responsible for the entire incident at the hospital. An image shows up on the TV. It's Stefano, saying he'd like to press charges against Marlena, as she's the one who caused his coma.

Tony and EJ agree they must unite to take back their share of the DiMera mpire from John. Meanwhile, Stefano tells Rolf they're going underground and vows to get revenge on John. He'll raise a new generation and destroy John, Marlena and the Bradys from the inside.

Steve and Kayla wake up and realize Joe is gone. Lucas and Chloe find Steve and Kayla and they all hear a baby's faint cry. Kayla finds Joe. She wonders what Stefano has done to her son.

John activates the ventilation system in the hospital. He hears Stefano's laughter and finds a boy who claims to be Stefano. The boy says John ruined his life and runs off. John encounters a young Santo, who tells John he's making a mistake by being cold to everyone, especially Marlena. Then, the "old John" confronts John and informs him that Marlena is the best thing that's ever happened to both of them. New John realizes that Marlena is great, and Santo tells him not to give up on love. Meanwhile, Marlena is visited by her dead sister, Samantha. They argue over whether Marlean should give up on John. Sam says that, if Marlena has the will to reverse her coma, she can move on from John. Marlena's hand moves. She picks up the antidote and plunges the syringe into her arm!

Lexie is checking out Marlena and tells John the initial prognosis is good. Apparently someone administered the antidote to Mar, they just don't know who. Later, Mar opens her eyes as John tells her he wants to give their marriage a chance. Mar asks John who he is.

After making out in the stairwell, EJ and Sami are escorted downstairs, where Nicole confronts him. She asks if he meant it when he said he wanted to give their relationship a try. EJ says yes, but when Nicole asks what will happen now that Sami's available, he's silent. Meanwhile, Lucas and Chloe run into Stefano, who says he's glad to see Lucas has moved on from Sami. Stefano points to EJ and Sami in an emotionally moment.

Lucas tells Nicole that things are over between him and Sami. Chloe overhears and is thrilled. Nicole ends up confiding in Chloe and they determine to end up with the men they want, leaving Sami in the cold. Lucas shows up at John's mansion and tells Sami and EJ he's taking his daughter and leaving!

Baby Joe is given a clean bill of health, but Steve and Kayla still don't know what Stefano wanted with their baby.

Kate has driven Philip to the hospital to be checked out by Daniel. Kate tells Daniel she's worried about Chelsea finding out about them. Chelsea walks in on their conversation and gets suspicious. Later, Chelsea surprises Daniel at his apartment, wanting to make love. While he is out of the room, Chelsea sees a text message from Kate on his phone, saying they must keep their fling a secret. Chelsea blasts Daniel then heads out to confront Kate.

Daniel confides in Lexie about his time with Kate. Lexie tries to convince Chelsea to hear Daniel's side of the story. Chelsea meets Kate and Daniel at the pub to discuss what actually happened between them. Daniel explains how he and Kate got together when Chelsea was his patient. Daniel asks if Chelsea can get past this but she's not sure. Chelsea leaves Nick a voicemail saying that going after Daniel was a big mistake.

Stephanie flirts with a guard in the French jail and he sneaks in her cell phone. They learn Nick is in town. Meanwhile, Nick finds Melanie and approaches her. Nick learns Max and Stephanie are in jail and persuades Melanie to take him to the police station. Nick questions Melanie about why she left Max and Stephanie in jail.

Caroline gets a call from Max and learns Nick is in Europe as well. Trent eavesdrops. Stephanie insists that Melanie help get them out of jail, but she claims she's broke. Max threatens to call Trent and Melanie freaks out. Melanie calls her friend Tiffany. Tiffany is reluctant to tell the police no one stole her bracelet, but Melanie promises her a date with Max and she gives in. On their "date," Max tells Tiffany he has a girlfriend but she ignores this and kisses him. Stephanie later chides Max, but he silences her with a kiss. Meanwhile, Trent calls Nick to set up a lunch and learns he's out of town. Nick calls Maggie and asks her not to tell Trent where he is.

Trent runs into Nicole and reminds her they are still married. He needs her to find more info about what Max and Stephanie are up to in Europe. Trent tells Nicole about his daughter, Melanie. Nicole wants to know why Trent is so determined to keep Max and Melanie apart. Trent refuses to discuss it. Nicole wants to leave and Trent threatens to tell Victor they are still married.

Steve is working on the website for his new P.I. business. Trent approaches, saying he has a job for Steve. He wants Steve to find Nick in Europe. Trent mentions Stephanie and raises Steve suspicions. Steve thinks it's time to start investigating Trent.

Lucas tells Sami he's taking Allie and leaving. Mickey and Maggie show up and he agrees Lucas has a decent case. Sami is distraught over the prospect of losing Allie and Stefano retaliating against Marlena. EJ promises to protect her and the twins.

Bo gives Roman the real recording of Philip threatening Paul. Roman agrees to give Bo 48 hours to bring him some answers.

Morgan tells Philip she still has feeling for him despite the fact that he threatened her father. Morgan talks to Hope, who says Bo risked everything to help Philip and believes he's innocent. Philip is served a subpoena. It looks like he'll be charged with numerous crimes. Just then, Morgan catches a glimpse of her father lurking outside and goes running out.

Marlena is recovering from her near paralysis and doesn't know who John is, at first. John stays with Marlena in the hospital and thinks she seems like a different person. She wants to be released. John and Roman get into it over where she should stay once she's released. Marlena agrees to go to the DiMera Mansion, but only for one night. Later, John gets a call and learns that Paul has escaped.

Marlena has left her hospital room and no one knows where she is. She ends up in her office and has a therapy session with a patient waiting there. Marlena realizes she needs to take her own advice. John finds her and they make love in her office. John takes Marlena home.

Tony and Anna are moving into the DiMera Mansion. A shipment of crates arrives containing cigars and cognac – some of Stefano's favorite things. Anna says she doesn't care about Stefano's money and wants to leave. Tony tells her he's not going to just hand his birthright over to John. The phone rings and Tony answers to Stefano, who tells him he's coming home.

July 2008

John tells EJ he knows he's been lying to Sami about the annulment. Sami overhears and is livid. EJ says he was desperate and trying to hold onto his family. He reveals he also lied about his troubles with immigration and that he bribed the officer to make a bigger deal out of his visa expiring. Sami says she'll never forgive EJ for his lies. Lucas wishes he could go to the Brady/Horton 4th of July party at Bo and Hope's. Nicole shows up for John's party and crosses paths with Lucas. They exchange a few barbs about their short-lived marriage and Nicole wonders why Lucas is willing to let Sami hurt him again. Lucas overhears EJ telling Nicole how Sami returned from Bo and Hope's party and told EJ she will always love Lucas. EJ leaves with Nicole. They end up in an elevator at the Salem Inn just as the power goes out across Salem. They begin to have wild elevator sex.

Roman tells Bo about Chloe's claim that she saw Paul on the pier the night of the fire. Apparently, he bought a plane ticket to South America but never boarded. His luggage is being sent to the police station. Morgan shows up at the station and freaks out when she sees the luggage.

Chloe tells Philip she told Roman about seeing Paul on the pier because she thought it would help. Philip thinks she may have made things worse. Morgan is afraid something's happened to Paul. Philip comforts her and Morgan thanks him with a kiss. Chloe sees and tells Philip they're through.

Lucas goes to see Chloe at the Salem Inn. They end up in an elevator just as the power goes out. Chloe starts to panic but Lucas calms her, and leans in for a kiss.

John and Ava go down to the lab with the disk. Ava stops John from trying to read the disk, fearing it will fry his brain. John has a memory flash of Stefano holding the disk. Ava encourages John to destroy it. John puts the disk in a locked drawer.

Marlena shows up at John's party and apologizes for getting angry. John tells her he's not going to access the data on the disk; the John she loved is dead. Ava eavesdrops. She sneaks into the lab to take the disk but John catches her. The power goes out. Ava pleads with John to destroy the disk. Marlena overhears and begs John not to throw away his past. John starts to smash the lab to pieces.

Trent shows up at the pub to talk to Max. He wants Max to keep their relationship a secret. Max asks Trent about the girl in the photo. Trent tells Max it's none of his business. Meanwhile, Stephanie visits Chelsea and tells her about Max's father returning to Salem. She's there to ask Bo and Hope for help and is afraid Max is headed for trouble.

Morgan is spending the holiday with Chelsea, who tells her all about her date with Daniel. Doug and Julie (dressed as Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross) learn that Chelsea is dating an older man. Doug reminds Bo that he wasn't too keen on Bo when he first started dating Hope.

Victor chastises Daniel for not telling him he was dating Chelsea. Meanwhile, Bo tells Chelsea he thinks Daniel is too experienced for her and she's way too young to be dating him. Chelsea disagrees. The power outage hits. Bo's house is unaffected at first, running on solar power, but soon plummets into darkness.

Lucas and Chloe make love in the elevator at the Salem Inn. Meanwhile, Sami has brought the twins to the Inn to see if they have a generator; she needs somewhere cool for the babies to stay. The generator is out, but Sami decides to wait it out. As the firefighters pry open the elevator doors, they see EJ and Nicole pulling on their clothes! Sami calls EJ a hypocrite. Nicole gives Sami a piece of her mind. Meanwhile, Lucas tries to slip out of his elevator unseen, but Sami spots him. She tells Lucas she loves him and tries to help him leave, but Roman sees him and arrests him.

The power is slowly being restored in Salem. EJ apologizes to Nicoleo for leaving her after the elevator incident. Trent appears, wanting to speak to Nicole alone. He wants her to break it off with EJ - now. Nicole returns to EJ and tells him they should go their separate ways.

Victor and Nicole meet at the pub with EJ to sign their divorce papers. EJ asks Nicole if he can take her to lunch but she turns him down. EJ asks why she's freezing him out. Trent shows up and is not happy to see Nicole with EJ.

Meanwhile, Lucas refuses to tell anyone why he was at the Salem Inn. He is taken away for questioning. Sami demands to know what's going on. She begs Hope to let her speak with Lucas. Sami tries to get Lucas to open up. He admits he made a big mistake but doesn't tell Sami the truth. Sami runs into Chloe and asks what happened in the elevator. Chloe refuses to answer but Sami won't give up. Finally, Chloe tells Sami that she and Lucas had sex. Sami is stunned.

Bo, Roman and Abe give Morgan a letter they found in Paul's suitcase. In the it, Paul apologizes to Morgan for all the stupid choices he's made. He's left something to help her in case anything happens to him.

Meanwhile, Philip sees Lucas in handcuffs and wants to know what happened. Chloe tells Philip he's making a huge mistake with Morgan and she's moving on; in fact, she already has. Philip pries and Chloe blurts out that she slept with Lucas. Chloe tells Morgan she is done with Philip and storms off. Angry, Philip asks Chloe why she slept with Lucas.

Marlena sees the lab has been destroyed beyond repair. Devastated, she tells Sami that she's lost John for good. Sami goes off on Ava. Later, Marlena sneaks back down to the lab and recovers the shattered disk. Ava and John share a toast to a new chapter in their lives.

Max asks Nick for a favor. He shows him the picture of the girl he found in Trent's room. Nick lifts Trent's cell phone. Max looks at the most frequently called number. It's an international number and when he dials, a girl answers, "Daddy?" The girl demands to know who he is. She hangs up and Max realizes he may have a half-sister.

Stephanie and Max prepare the pub to be an emergency relief center until the city gets power restored. The lights are still on here as it's running on solar power.

Max tells Steve he needs help finding his sister. Kayla urges Max to tell Caroline everything. Max talks to Caroline, who is emotionally overwhelmed but understands Max's need to find out about his biological family. Steve finds out the number Max called is assigned to Melanie Layton. He gives Max a location for her as well.

Trent asks how many more people Max is going to tell about their relationship. Max insists he's only telling his family and says their brief association is over. He gives Trent back the photo. Stephanie volunteers to help Max find his sister but he says he's not going to look for her; his family is here. In reality, Max has his bags packed. He writes notes to Stephanie and Caroline, explaining that this journey is something he needs to do on his own. We see Max has his passport and is planning on finding his half-sister.

Kate arrives at Bo and Hope's party just in time to see Chelsea and Daniel kissing. Kate passes out and Daniel rushes to attend to her. Abe and Lexie arrive and she seems jealous to learn Daniel and Chelsea are dating. Kate recovers and gives Chelsea an earful, telling her to break it off. Lexie tells Daniel the same thing. Daniel tells Chelsea he's going to leave; he doesn't want to be a source of tension with her family.

Chelsea has started her job at the hospital working with kids as an occupational therapist. She meets up with Daniel and tells him how much she loves working with the kids.

Lexie brings Theo to the police station to visit Abe. They talk about their next session with the marriage counselor. Later, Caroline tries to comfort Lexie.

Victor is with Caroline at the bar when suddenly he passes out. Max rushes to perform CPR on Victor. Morgan calls Philip and informs him Victor is going to the hospital. Victor arrives at the hospital with Caroline and Kate in tow. Philip and Bo arrive. Daniel takes Victor off for testing and later informs them that Victor has suffered another stroke.

Sami has just learned that Chloe and Lucas had sex and she initiates a massive food fight with Chloe. Nicole gets involved. EJ arrives and is hit by a flying cake! Sami goes off on EJ and tells him she and the twins are moving out. Later, Sami learns that EJ has gotten a court order barring her from taking Johnny out of the mansion. Sami is furious. EJ doesn't care if Sami leaves but she is not taking Johnny. Sami goes off on EJ and blames Nicole for the whole mess. EJ defends Nicole and says that, eventually, he'll find someone to share his life and be a mother to Johnny.

EJ asks John to be a part of his business ventures. John says he will consider taking him on, but only because he is family. EJ tries to win John's trust. He has tea with Judge Karen Fitzpatrick and tells her about how John is trying to rebuild his reputation. He tells her John will donate to her re-election campaign. John tells EJ he still doesn't trust him.

Sami is at the police station with Roman and Marlena. She tells them about EJ's threat to sue for custody of Johnny and about Chloe and Lucas. She asks Roman if there is anything he can do to help Lucas. Sami discovers Lucas is being transferred to a maximum- security prison. Roman fills Lucas in on a mystery plan but warns it will be dangerous.

Victor has had a cerebral hemorrhage and is barely hanging on. He asks Bo to look after Philip. Meanwhile, Morgan tells Philip her father left her a letter and, apparently, he knew who wanted him dead and left proof. Philip is alarmed. Morgan learns that there is a certified letter for her at the post office and she and Philip go to pick it up. They go back to the pub but Bo shows up before they open it. Philip leaves and Morgan opens the letter. It contains cash and a letter from Paul saying he wanted Morgan to have freedom from her mother. Morgan leaves and Bo examines the envelope further. He finds a recorder, hits play and hears Philip's voice threatening to kill Paul!

Philip goes to visit Victor and tells him he did something that could destroy the family. Philip has spent the night by Victor's bedside. Kate arrives and learns that Philip unburdened himself to Victor. Bo comes to see Victor, who admits he knows Bo has damning evidence against Philip. Victor begs Bo to protect Philip and promises Philip did not kill Paul. He challenges Bo to prove Philip's innocence. Bo is torn but eventually leaves the recorder with Victor and asks to speak with Philip alone. He tells Philip about the recording. Philip says he did not kill Paul. Later, Kate is with Victor and sees the recorder. She hits play and hears Philip's threat.

Stephanie has just discovered that Max lied and left the country to find his sister. She tells Steve and Kayla that she going to the South of France to help Max and she's not asking for permission! Meanwhile, Max is on a train to Marseille. He's approached by a paparazzo, who snaps photos of the famous race car driver. Stephanie shows Caroline the goodbye letter from Max. She tells her friends she's leaving for Europe.

Stephanie surprises Max on the train. He tells her she's getting off on the next stop and going home, but changes his mind and they end up making love in the sleeper car.

Daniel and Kate talk about their affair and how Chelsea can never find out. Daniel says a future with Kate is out of the question.

Abe brings Theo to Hope's for a play date with Ciara. Abe tells Hope that they've taken Theo out of school and are searching for a program for him. Abe feels guilty for not being more supportive of Lexie. When she knew something was wrong, Abe didn't want to face it.

Ava and Nicole meet for lunch and share their troubles. Ava tells Nicole that she and John are much closer but Marlena is still in the way. Nicole reveals (off camera) the mysterious secret that Trent is holding against her but warns no one can know about it. Meanwhile, Marlena meets with Rolf and offers to try and get him immunity in exchange for his help in repairing the disk.

Daniel is concerned about Victor's health. He's forbidding any visitors from now on, including family. Kate assures Philip the recording is gone for good and know one will know what Bo did to protect Philip.

Hope suspects Bo is agitated because of the Paul Hollingsworth case, but he doesn't tell her about the recorder. Abe learns there has been a break in the case. Philip and Morgan show up and learn Paul's jacket was found floating in the river. Philip tries to comfort Morgan, who is terrified that her father is dead. Bo confronts Philip and accuses him of killing Paul. Bo says listening to Victor was his first mistake. Hope accuses Bo of knowing something more about the PH case. Bo refuses to share. Hope is livid, but he tells her it's for her own safety.

Tony pays a visit to John and brings up Paul. John calls the guy a double- crossing scum. Tony reveals that Paul is dead.

Bo confronts Philip about his involvement with Morgan and advises him to break it off. Philip says he cares for Morgan. He takes Morgan back to the mansion and into his arms.

Bo confesses to Steve that he stole police evidence. Steve tells Bo he did the right thing covering for Philip. He couldn't ignore Victor's last request. Hope tells Kayla she's worried about Bo. Kayla says she'll talk to him. Philip tells Kate he feels guilty over what Bo has done to protect him. Philip receives an anonymous letter that reads, "I know what you did." He is sure John sent it and goes to confront him. Morgan shows up at John's and demands to know where Paul is. Ava calls Eddie, her bodyguard. Morgan reaches into her purse just as Philip shows up. Eddie thinks she has a gun and fires at her. Philip dives in front of Morgan and takes the bullet!

Sami needs to sublet her apartment. John asks her to offer the space to Ava. Ava agrees to take it, but then they run into Steve and Kayla. Kayla is not comfortable living across the hall from Ava. Ava leaves, discouraged. Ava later asks John if she can move in with him. He tells her there are already too many people living in the mansion. He wants her to have her own place so they can both get away. They start to make love on John's rooftop.

Marlena tells Roman about the disk. Roman wants to take it to ISA before involving Rolf.

EJ shows up with news for Ava. He has managed to get the kidnapping/shooting off the table, but she'll still be tried for causing the plane crash and three deaths. The guys who did the plane job are flipping on her and the Irish police and Interpol have gotten involved. Ava tells John she wants to skip bail and flee the country. John says he's going to face and beat his drug charges and promises to help Ava fight the charges against her.

Tony and Kate toast the success of her Hearth and Home. Tony leaves and Anna shows up. Kate and Anna drink and discuss their children. Daniel has decided to stay in Salem and has sub-let an apartment. He leads Chelsea onto his roof and they dance under the stars.

It's baby Joe's homecoming. A nurse gives Kayla and Steve a tutorial on the medical equipment they need to care for him. Kayla is agitated over Ava's visit and she and Steve argue about how Ava has affected their – and baby Joe's – lives. Later, they can't sleep and apologize to each other for arguing over Ava. Marlena and Roman stop by for a visit. Marlena tells Kayla that Bo was acting strangely.

When Max leaves her alone, Stephanie is startled by a smarmy guy on the train. He tried to rob her, but she takes out her mace and sprays him. Max apologizes for what happened and promises to keep a better watch over her. Stephanie peaks fluent French and figures out that the address they have for Melanie Layton is a girls' boarding school. They guess she is a student there.

Chloe comes to say goodbye to Lucas before he's transferred to maximum security. He says he doesn't regret what they did. Neither does Chloe.

Lexie and Abe go over a list of potential therapies for Theo. Lexie suggests they use Theo's college fund to help pay for the treatment.

Philip lies unconscious after taking a bullet for Morgan. He is taken to the hospital where we learn he has ruptured a major artery and needs a blood transfusion. He has a very rare blood type.

Ava learns she is not going to be extradited. Her judge will be Judge Fitzpatrick, whom John has in his pocket. Ava and John have sex. John tells Ava that he is responsible for Paul's disappearance and he is trying to pin it on Philip. He takes Ava to where he is holding Paul. John wants to know what happened to the recording Paul made of Philip's threat. He tells Paul he's not going anywhere; Philip can't pay for murder if Paul is alive. Ava goes to the Java Café with a mystery plan.

Meanwhile, Bo and Hope interview Morgan, who doesn't think the police are doing anything to help Paul's case. She believes John killed her father. Morgan tells unconscious Philip she loves him and Chloe overhears. Nicole shows up to see Philip and the three women stand by his bedside.

Hope interviews Morgan and asks if there was anything else in the envelope from Paul. Morgan says she gave it to Bo. Hope asks Bo and he's evasive. They receive an e- mail asking what happened to the evidence in the Paul Hollingsworth case; is there a police cover-up going on? Hope and Roman trace the email to the Java Café. They check the email against the surveillance tapes and discover Ava at the computer. Roman instructs an undercover cop to focus on Ava. Hope confronts Bo about the missing evidence and he reveals he tampered with the evidence to protect Philip.

Max and Stephanie are in Marseille. Max runs into Daphne, a journalist he had a fling with a few years earlier. Daphne makes some calls and learns Melanie has a rep as a party girl. Stephanie runs into George, a high school boy who dated Melanie but she dumped him when his parents cut him off. George warns them to stay away from Melanie. She's trouble. Meanwhile, in Salem, Nick finds a photo of Melanie online and thinks she looks familiar.

Max is approached by a man, Les, and two of his friends. Les knows Max is looking for Melanie and demands to know where she is. When he learns Max's racecar driver identity, he says Max can have Melanie if he pays Les what she owes him. Max refuses. Les says that if he finds Melanie first, she's dead. At home, Nick realizes where he's seen Melanie before. He calls Stephanie, saying he knows how they can find Melanie. Trent suspiciously watches Nick on the phone.

EJ tells Nicole he is done with Sami and only wants his son, Johnny. Nicole doesn't believe him. Marlena tells EJ she's not happy with the way he's treating Sami. She asks if EJ still loves Sami and he says yes, but Sami is done with him. Now EJ must take steps to protect his son.

Chloe and Nicole are at the hospital visiting Philip when they learn Lucas has just been admitted as a patient. Sami and EJ are bonding over the twins. EJ is not sure they can return to being friends because of Lucas. Sami insists that Lucas is gone. Then she gets a call from Roman that Lucas is in the hospital. Sami leaves and EJ goes berserk. Chloe and Nicole find Lucas. He's badly beaten, having agreed to be a snitch in prison in exchange for his freedom. Chloe and Lucas share a warm moment. Nicole warns Chloe not to come between Sami and Lucas. Sami arrives and wonders if Lucas' new life includes her.

Maggie finds Chloe doting on Lucas in the hospital. Maggie offers the Horton cabin, located on a secluded island, as a place where Lucas can stay for a while. Lucas invites Chloe to stay with him and kisses her.

Nicole tells Trent she's tired of being manipulated. Trent reminds her he has something on her – does she really want to test him? Trent tells Nicole to find out what Max is doing in France. Otherwise, he'll reveal that she's still the very married Mrs. Trent Robbins!

Nicole gets a call from Trent telling her to work harder to find out why Max is in France. She visits EJ for legal advice about Trent. She reveals that she is still married to Trent and he has forbidden her to date EJ. EJ suggests he and Nicole find more information about Trent. Nicole tells EJ that Trent is Max's biological father and he gave him up for adoption. Now he wants to know what Max is doing in France. EJ tells her they need to find out and thinks Stephanie is their in.

Kate tells Victor that Philip was shot and Victor flatlines. Daniel lets Kate have it for disturbing Victor. He is not allowing any more visitors. Victor wants to see his son. Daniel allows Bo to visit. Chelsea thinks Daniel was too hard on Kate.

Steph surprises Max in France.

Lucas is not going to states prison, he's going to maximum security prison. Sami wants to know why he went to Chloe instead of her!?! Sami leaves and gives her father a picture of Ali for Lucas. I have a feeling that Lucas isn't going to maximum security prison because he has to, but because he wants to. Meaning he's going to be doing a job for the police so he can get out early.

Ava and Nicole gossip about their lives.

EJ is trying to bribe a judge on John's behalf. Later EJ tells John that he'll admit he still has feelings for Sami when he admits he still has feelings for Marlena.

Marlena wants Rolf to put John's disc back together. She says if he doesn't he better be prepared because he'll be spending a long time in jail.

Caroline finds out that Max went to France to find his sister, and she is pissed at Trent!

Trent makes Nicole find out where Max is, she tells Trent that he is on a little vacation. Trent then calls Max to find out what's going on, Max just hangs up on him.

Marlena finds out that Lucas slept with Sami, and she thinks it's her fault because of the things she did with John and Roman years ago.

Morgan doesn't want to take the money from her father, she'd rather wait for him to come home...well to bad you'll never see him alive again.

Morgan and Chelsea get Steph a few going away gifts.

Bo confronts Phil about threatening to kill Paul, and tells him Victor has the tape. Bo then asks Phil if he killed a man!?! Phil says he is not a killer, but I don't think Bo believes him, and regrets giving the tape to Victor. Later Bo realizes that Phil didn't do it and he must prove his innocence.

EJ wants to work for John, John wants to know if he can trust EJ, so he has to prove himself.

Kate and Victor listen to the tape, Kate destroys it!

Steph reads Max's letter, and she is very upset! Steve tells her that he told Max not to take her with him.

Max is on a train to find his sister, a creepy man waits outside his door. The creepy guy is a poparotzi and he's looking to make a fortune with Max Brady the race car driver pictures.

Bo's hiding Paul's tape recorder from Abe.

Victor is pissed that Bo won't help Phil out in the Hollingsworth case, all he wants him to do is hold off for a little while, I don't see the harm in that. But I do see the harm in Victor wanting Bo to give him the tape!

Kate wants to know what Phil has done!

Morgan and Phil go to the post office to get the package from her father. Morgan freaks out a little because she thinks the people who did this could have followed her to find out what's in the package.

Bo gets a warrent to pick up Morgan's package, to bad Morgan already has it. Bo and Hope end up at the pub and find Morgan, Phil and the package. Bo and Hope ask Phil to leave, the 3 of them go to the police station to open the package. It's a boat load of money and a note. Bo goes through the rest of the package and finds a tape recorder, with Phil saying "Damn it Paul, do what I tell you or I will kill you!" To bad Morgan left already, I think she'd want to know that about Phil.

Sami and EJ argue about being parents to their child. I love how EJ gets a court order to stop Sami from taking Johnny out of their home, yet he can take him back to Europe! What a hypocrite! Sami has done a few things in the currant situation, but EJ was the instigator in most of the goings on.

Chloe calls her mom to talk about Lucas, Nicole over hears and finds out she and Lucas had sex! Nicole follows her into the pub and confronts her, Sami over hears the whole thing...she is not happy! Sami throws some mashed potatoes at Chloe, then Chloe starts throwing rolls at Sami. Some guy breaks up the fight and Nicole and Chloe tell Sami that she does have feelings for EJ. Right then EJ walks in the door, Sami picks up a lemon cream pie and chucks it at him, right in the kisser! Sami and EJ have a little talk and she tells him that she's taking the twins and moving out of the mansion tonight. Sami goes home to pack and EJ tells her that he has a court order saying that she can't take Johnny away until after the custody hearing.

Chloe and Nicole have a drink together, don't tell me they're going to become friends now!?!

Phil tells Bo that Victor can't die, and how he let him down after Victor gave him control of the company.

Morgan goes to the hospital to check up on Phil, and she tells him that she thinks her father knew who was after him and he has proof. Later Morgan ends up at the pub and a friend shows up with a letter for her. She has a package waiting for her at the post office.

I find it kinda funny how Chelsea's mother and grandmother have both slept with guys she's dated/dating.

Kate and Dan talk about their past relationship, and they have no regrets.

I love how Chloe is going around town telling everyone that she and Lucas are an item! Lucas hasn't told anyone, and I really don't think he wants to. We all know Sami and Lucas belong together, and that they'll be together in the end.

Chelsea and Dan are at the hospital having a grand old time talking about their relationship when they find out Victor's being brought in! He may of had a heart attack or stroke! Dan does some tests and finds out that Victor has had another stroke. Dan has put him on a drug called tpa which should hopefully make him better.

Kate finds out that Lucas is going back to jail, and he was sent back because he took off his ankle monitor to go see Chloe.

After Kate sees Victor she tells Dan that Chelsea can never find out what happened between the two of them, it would devastate her.

Max talks to Trent, he wants to come to an understanding between the two of them. He doesn't want to hate him because he takes it out on his friends and family, which they don't deserve. Max wants to call a truce and go their separate ways. Max will never forgive Trent for what he did to him and his mother, but atleast he doesn't hate him any more.

Max tells Steph that he's not going to find his sister, he doesn't want to be connected to Trent in anyway. I don't believe him, I think he still wants to find his sister, I just think he wants to do it alone.

Victor asks Caroline to a movie, Citizen Cane is playing.

Nicole thinks back to the day she met Victor, along with the rest of their relationship.

As Nicole and Victor are getting ready to sign their divorce papers he starts looking a little funny. EJ and Nicole want to call 911, Victor says no, he says he's just hot. Even though Nicole has had her moments, she still cares about Victor. After they sign the papers Victor passes out, I think he's having a heart attack!

Morgan follows Chloe home to tell her a few things. Morgan thinks Chloe is lying about her father to get back at her, and sleeping with Lucas to get back at Phil.

Max asks Steve and Kayle for help, he wants to find his sister. Max tells Caroline that he may have a sister. Steve finds out where Max's sister lives, and her name is Melanie Layton.

Nicole pretends it was just sex, EJ tells her to drop the act. EJ says that they both know it was more then just sex.

Trent wants Nicole to break it off with EJ. Nicole tells him NO! Trent tells her she'll do it otherwise she won't like the consequences. Nicole then goes inside and breaks it off with EJ. EJ wants to know why she's doing this. She tells him he has no say in the matter!

Morgan gets the letter from her father that was in his suitcase. The letter says he's leaving her something. Morgan has no clue what that it.

Chloe tells Phil that Lucas broke his house arrest because of her. And the man she's seeing is Lucas, and yes she slept with him.

Caroline tells Trent that if he hurts Max, he'll have to answer to her!

Nicole dreams of marrying EJ and how jealous Sami will be when she does!

Max checks all of Trent's recent calls. They're all local, but no full names, only initials. That means he's hiding something. He writes down his 'sisters' phone number, he plans to find out where she lives. And of course Max is still pissed at his father, so Steph convinces him to look at the negative positively. He'll finally get all the answers he's been looking for.

Sami still can't get a hold of Lucas, she wonders where he is!?!

Chloe and Lucas's elevator is moving, when the doors open Chloe plans to freak out so Lucas can sneak out in all of the commotion. Chloe totally freaks out when the doors open and Lucas runs out of the elevator as fast as he can. Of course Sami is there and runs right into him wondering why he's there. Everyone sees him, along with the cops. He's arrested immediately! If it wasn't for Sami he would have gotten away with it! Stupid stupid Sami!

Kate walks into the Brady picnic and sees Dan kissing Chelsea, she passes out. When she wakes up she forbids Chelsea to see Dan and tells her to end it immediately!

Marlena sees that John has smashed Stefano's lab and is a little freaked out, and disappointed. Later Marlena finds a piece of the broken disc and says that she is not giving up on John.

Sami packs up the kids and goes to the Salem Inn in hopes of air conditioning.

Nicole and EJ are making out and getting naked in the elevator when he calls her Sami. Can we say EJ's gonna need a cold shower!?! But he apologizes and they continue making out, and eventually make love in an elevator.

Chloe and Lucas are making out in an elevator, but she feels guilty, like she's cheating on Phil. Lucas also feels weird because he has Sami, and Phil is his brother. But they get over it and get it on. After, Lucas freaks out because if he gets caught he's going back to jail.

Nick is going to help Max find out if the girl in the picture is his sister. Nick calls Trent and asks him for a ride back to campus because he car is broken. Trent says sure, Nick goes to ge this stuff and bumps into Trent, taking his pda. Max finds a phone number from out of the country, he calls it. A girl answers the phone "Dad?". Well it looks like Max has a sister.
